Real Grand Daddy Purp From Seed

Stop coveting the mans ladies ..... LOL

I took the bottom branches as clones today. I also took 4 major fan leaves as well. I want to get light in there. She was also fed another 5ml/gal of BPN Elite 3 part Grow. Micro, and Bloom. I have 6 clones right now and I am not sure if 3 of the ones I inherited will make it but I am not really concerned as I know for sure I will have a couple GDP and a cheese. I also moved her from the lights a bit to help with heat management. That is it for today.

Oh yeah the GDP top has already rooted and will soon be ready for a 1 gal. pot. and the dome has been removed. The other clones are getting a second chance as I inspected them thoroughly and found that the stem was never scraped and appears that no rooting hormone was used. They are still green so I decided to re-cut and scrape them along with adding my hormone. Time will tell. I know that what I have done is very unconventional but it appears as though I got dogs not clones and figured I should attempt to save them. I talked with the guy who I got them from and he said he has about a 75% success rate and has no clue why these have done so poorly and that he did use rooting gel. He told me if they die he will let me cut some new ones with my method as I have never had one not root.

It could be so many things. Even with my clones. They've been sitting in the bubble box for almost a month. I finally painted the bottom container black, added a humidity dome and heated the water. Now, after sitting for a month, one of them decided to sprout roots just two days after making the changes I did. Up until then, I thought I was doing everything right.

The LST has begun.... Here are a few photos of my girl tied up. She likes it. :) :thumb:

So now the question is do I start to LST or do I just let her do her own thing? Also should I start taking some leaves for better light penetration or let it be until flower? I need advice at this point.

Hey buddy:)
Well as she is still just setting herself out, as suggested, let her grow out some more. Once she starts to show a bit of gain on each branch from new growth, then you may want to start working out how her branches are setting out - and where you may need to tether them.
I used stick on Cup-hooks, and rubber gardening wire to great effect!!
My Cindy at about week 3/4 after her branches grew out and up a bit, i secured some branches and left others be as they didnt need to be moved, i didnt put much strain on branches with the pulling of branches, just a gradual progression that i adjusted every week at least, it was hands on, but i like it like that..
In regard to taking any leaves, IMO - No, leave em mate, as theyre still just establishing, i try to keep em as they are and healthy. As once theyre settled, mate, before you know it youll have a 3/4ft plant staring at you in 7 weeks too!!!
But yeah, once the base of her is established, and depending on how you set her out, some growths in her very centre that arent getting much light maybe removed, but i wouldnt go taking much from it until it starts to near Puberty:)
Then work out what youre doing to her and make each site you want to prominant.. Just light trimming of leaves, staggering them from branch to branch is good as not 1 branch is solely being trimmed. The plant is used to losing some foliage during its grow, and certain trimming techniques produce different results, but i try to keep it to a minimum where possible..
GREAT WORK ON HER< SHE LOOKS GOOD THUS FAR MY FRIEND:bravo::high-five: AND IM SURE YOU WILL SUCCEED IN A GREAT PLANT TOO!! Im not sure on how much stuff i posted on setting Cindy out, but im sure theres some talk about the stakes i used at first etc; inmy earlier pages.. GOODLUCK TACTIC!! AWSUMNES... Smokemup

WOAH!! SHIT I MISSED THEM THERE PICS!!!
Topping, tethering.. MY GOD.. So much work in so little time:):) FIRST I MUST SAY.. I THINK THIS GROW IF YOU HAVE A BIT OF ROOM, COULD BE PRETTY HUGE MATE!!!:thumb: As youve topped now, and from what i see youre doing, I hope for you that them branches do all form into Apical tops and grow like STINK ON SHIT!!! That will look MAD AZ BUDDY!!!
Shit so, what are your plans with her?? Veg time? And any further techniques being used??? She will hopefully just grow out from the 6 branches and I PRAY FOR YOU THAT THEYLL EACH KEEP CLIMBING AND BUILDING UP FOR SOME MAJOR BUDS!! Good job Tactic.. :bravo:

I am just going to LST and do some trimming here and there to get light where it needs to be. I have got the 6 tops leveled out with my LST and I am hoping the new branch growth will level off with the existing 6 tops and fill the middle in. I will only tie things up as needed to make an even canopy. I have 4 more weeks of veg before she goes 12/12. My next feed will be the second stage of veg so I will be giving her Blue Planet Nutrients Elite 3 part in the following: Grow 10ml/gal, Micro 7.5ml/gal, and Bloom 7.5 ml/gal. and this feed should be on Thursday. She is going to become beastly I hope.

I will be coming to you to pick your brains on my next grow then TG. I went to try LST with Lizzie and nearly snapped her branch even though I'd watered her before. Didn't like it! *sniff*

I do want to look at improving my yield by topping and LST but am a bit scared now, a lot of the reason I am not a gambler is because I can't afford to lose!

I will go back and have a good read through your journal my darling, looks like you've got it nailed ;)

My first attempt at LST on my first grow ended with "oopps! I just supercropped." I have learned to bend slowly over the course of a couple days, then retie to get her where I need her. I was lucky that my other girl liked the abuse other wise I may have had a Thia girl in the closet. ;)

Aha...now this makes sense...

I am slowly getting through, please forgive me if I ask obvious questions.

What do you use for your LST? I know people use lots of different things.

:thanks: for letting me know I am not alone!

I use some household twine... not the thick stuff. it is like $1 for 150 feet. It is soft so it should not chafe the plant and I just duct tape it to the side of the pot. I tie knots on both cut ends of each piece I cut so that it does not unravel. If I am not clear enough let me know and I will get you pictures. :)
