Real Grand Daddy Purp From Seed

hey guys quick question, How Long Can You keep a clone in stasis for ? and whats the best way to keep it?

Thanks :peace:

Keeping your clones in stasis by using your fridge is a handy way to both store them for future use or keep backups should there be some failure with your original cuttings. I have personally kept cuttings up to eight weeks using this method.

Simply put:

1) Take cuttings as you normally would, but with the one addition of leaving a longer stem, as you will be trimming this down further by at least half an inch when it is time to root them.

2) Place cuttings in a Ziploc bag (Tupperware can be used also.)There should be enough water in the bottom of the bag so that the stems are submerged. RO or good quality tap water should be fine. An inch or two should be in the bottom of the bag, keeping the stems wet.

Breathe some air into the bag, mainly so as not to crush the leaves and provide some cushion as they may get bumped about in the crisper drawer.

**Another variation on this is to simply put the cuttings in a water glass or jar (an ice cream bucket works well too -> basically, wide and shallow containers) and have them sit on the shelf in the fridge (stems also in water). This may or may not be convenient or stealthy for you.

3) I would recommend that you replace the air and water in the bag once a week. I have typically not bothered to replace the air or water at all for up to four weeks, but I continually come across this information and it seems like it cant hurt.

4) When you decide it is time to use your cuttings, remove them from the fridge and let them sit with their stems in a glass of water for half an hour or so to warm up as you prepare your cloning materials.

5) Cut half an inch or more off the stem to make a fresh end that you will dip in your favorite rooting hormome or rooting medium. I have found that fridge clones, if let to sit longer than a few weeks, will take longer to root.

This is fine for most since many are buying time with this method anyway. Clones older than 2 weeks will usually begin to root in 10 days and are mostly established by 14 days.

*Be sure that your fridge does not have a tendency to freeze your food. It should be stable. If your clones freeze, they will die. Happy Cloning.

OH .... that's simple. Just bring it over and put it into my bubble cloner. It will never root and it won't grow at all. But, it won't die either. That's what my clones are doing anyway ...... LOL.

I threw an aquarium heater in there. I'll have to check it later and see how hot it gets. Hopefully it will help them root.

If i could +rep i would ROFLMAO :thumb:

Yeah its definitely the anxiety of having to wait that makes growing such a fun process as not 1 day goes by when you dont think please hurry up, never heard of someone going please stop growing just for a week or 2 (unless height is an issue lol).

you know I think I said that I wished my kids stoped growing.
then I woke up and thought GET OUT!!

Damn guys thanks for giving me a novel to read. :) I just got done checking the garden a little bit ago and can happily say all the clones are showing new growth. The big girl is well getting bigger. She is loving her life and I am loving her. I have yet to get any colloidal silver or make any for that matter but I will be doing it soon. Then the breeding will begin. I am awaiting sex on the initial clone of the top from my GDP as I want to make sure everything goes well. I am getting really excited as the big GDP is almost ready to give me 2 more clones. :)

LOL ... I would also like to start from seed some time. You've got to start at the begining at some point ... just for the knowledge. I think some of the dispenseries in Seattle have seeds. But, they are so few and far between. Still to scared to try and order some.

I haven't found one yet that carries seeds. The one that was a 1/2 mile from my place got shut down for being to close to a soccer field. They were going to start carrying seeds but so much for that. They had a lot of clones and they prided themselves being pest free. To me they were like high on the clones $15. that was some good profit for them.

That's about the going rate for clones. I'm on the West side and they go anywhere from 10-20 depending on size.

You don't have any buddies over where you're at that are also into growing?? Thats how I'd get clones .... if I had too. My problem is, I'm so new to this I don't really know anybody yet.

i just noticed your sig lol cool man!! good onfo here, i tried the frig thing didnt work out so hot after a month i had green mush, i think the frig is to cold, to keep them in stasis i just put them in the cloner with no warmth or heat mat from 50-65 they will take forever to root, but stay alive, after they root put them in coco with little to no nutes,if they get really pale they get a few drop grow/micro/bloom in a gallon and just a 23 watt cfl 24/7 low temps slow em down too

Yea like to rep what I feel is good information for others who will like it as well. And I for one would like to make some CS for future breeding. When ever I get the right strains.

Yea I never tryd the stasis thing. I just got the info for Popcorn since he was asking. Didnt mind looking it up for him ya know. But I guess ill try it how you explained because my fridge freezes food and im pretty sure it will turn it to mush also. I figure why not use the dome any way, if I wouldve known what it was for in the first place. Yea I figure its alot easier and doesnt take much to do so. Unless he plan on keeping them for a very long time. He will have to turn his fridge on 4 or less.
