Damn Rad... ur world looks smelly!

Twelfth Night nears. Tead's considering a drinking outing to catch some early merriment. The Phunny Phorty Phellows ride a streetcar and drink allot. Seems a good start.

Some saint's day today, with parades I'm sure :)

I was just readig today that Saint Marron was one of Marie Laveau's favorites - A saint for runaways and those planning to runaway.

St. Marron is not likely to be at my local Catholc Church, but I'll be likely to find a Saint Anthony du Padua card sometime this month :)

Subbed up Rad!

Thanks!

You must be Australian aswell?
Amy is !

Thanks for subbing.

Life is keeping me busy away from the screen, so I've been slower to read and post on :420:

This might be the new normal for awhile.

I'll be taking a few pictures soon :)

Garden Update: A look at the garden.

The Veg Area

The rooted clones of Lilly, Haze x Kali China, and Guawi (80-100% Sativa) - Carnival has unrooted clones in the cloner bucket

20180108_114114-1.jpg

I've been leaving standing water in the veg area to bump up humidity. The environmentals look good to me.

20180108_114604-1.jpg

Late Veg. Most of the girls are not happy with 50 ml osmocote+ in 3 gallon hempy buckets.

20180108_113948.jpg

The one 3-gallon bucket girl who is doing well is Carnival (80%Sativa, but seems more Indica)

20180108_114006-1.jpg

I've upped the PH Down in the water supply from 4ml/bucket to 7ml/bucket. I don't see a difference.

I've upped the hempy watering schedule to every other day in veg and every day in flower. I don't see a difference.

I tried doubling the osmo+ in the 1.5 gallon tube (Guawi) that looked the worst. It may have made the leaves a little crispier.

When it is time to transplant the next girls into hempy buckets, what would you suggest?

Yesterday, I transplanted a Carnival clone from a 1qt to a 3-gallon. Since she was Carnival, I went with 50 ml osmo+.
Her roots were unimpressive, so I could have waited to transplant.

20180108_114021-1.jpg

The Flower Area

Guawi has been in the flower area for 17 days - she might not make it to harvest. Not at 92 days last harvest.

20180108_112518-1.jpg

Haze x Kali China is 35 days in the flower area - She looks better, but is obviously not happy.

20180108_112630-1.jpg

She'll have an oz of bud worth harvesting.

20180108_112636-1.jpg

Carnival is 48 days in the flower area. Grown in Doc Bud's soil. At 24" tall, she is smaller than usual, but a very happy girl.

20180108_111541-1.jpg

Nice even canopy on this carnival after 8" of stretch. 5 roughly equal tops and another 5 or 6 smaller top buds

20180108_111548-1.jpg

Many of the top pistils have turned brown in the last two days.

20180108_111615-1.jpg

Lower buds have more white pistils.

20180108_111630-1.jpg

She is 48 days in the flower area. She usually goes 55-60 days, so on track to harvest in 7--12 days.

Dam rad she is lookn really good and tastey that's for sure congrats. Now as for ur hempy girls they seem to me like to much nutes. I would transplant one with jus perlite and no osmo + just give her plain ph water for abit and see if she dnt start to green up alil then add in some osmo but less. That's what I would. I did it with one of my mighty grow girls that I used to much ferts on since I cudnt take the nutes out i jus transplanted with plain soil and left her by for awhile and actually skipped the next feeding altogether then on the next feeding after that I did like 2/3rds what I normally would do and she did way better so idk but might be similar issues since my plant was doing the same thing and when I added more ferts she jus turned even crisper. Hey rad i had a quick question if i wana quick dry some bud to smoke what temp and how long do i do it 4?? Thanx for the help brotha and hope ur hempy girls start to come threw and u figure it out y they so sad :namaste:

There needed to type sumthn xtra so it would show up on my subbed list on the app on my phone so I can get notifications when I leave lol but yea hope this year of growing goes good for u in the garden and glad to hear ur able to find a spot to keep cooking soil congrats.

I've never grown anything in hempy but it sure makes me wonder if the veg girls are getting too much nutes too soon. I'd be tempted to repot one without any nutes and see what happens. It's easier to add some later than it is to take it away.

The Osmo+ is a time release nute mixed into the perlite, this makes adjusting nutes complicated.

I tried ADDING osmocote+ to one of the girls, the Guawi in a tube, and that seemed to make no difference, no better or worse.

I used triple the PH Down for 7-12 days, no better or worse. I just started using a third of the PH down and am watching it.

I'll do a photo update in a few minutes and you can see the sad state of the garden.

I'm had a heck of a time with notifications and following threads for a bit there - it seems to be better now, but I'm way behind on all my threads.

I’m going to pull up a stool in the corner if you don’t mind. .

Casually tardy but I am here for the duration. May 2018 bring you fat harvests.

Thanks for joining me here

I won't lie. Off to a rocky start this year, both in the garden and in using 420. It'll get better :)

welcome

Garden Update

The cloner bucket

My cloner, has stopped rooting very well. These are 11 and 18 days in the cloner without roots.
I blame it on my putting PH'd water into the cloner. I'll replace with Reverse Osmosis water.

20180119_112755-1.jpg

The Reveg girls

A clone that went straight to flower, is still growing it's pea sized flower - not revegging. I am keeping her alive out of curiosity.

20180119_112741-1.jpg

Reveg CBD Critical Cure is alive but growing in slow motion. Note that she still has healthy leaves. She is also alive out of curiosity.

20180119_112731-2.jpg

The young plants

The young clones (in 1-2ml osmo+) are doing fine and growing well

20180119_112636-1.jpg

The carnival clone transplanted into the 3-gal bucket is still looking healthy.

20180119_112628-1.jpg

The older girls in veg

Carnival, which seemed a week or two away from going into flower 3 weeks ago, is starting to have leaf burn and isn't growing

20180119_112707-1.jpg

Guawi, the first to get leaf burn, is weeks late moving into flower, I don't think she will make it to flower.

20180119_112657-1.jpg

The way she is 'palm treeing' with crispy lower leaves and nice looking new growth was something that happened to my girls 2 years ago when my PH was too high, which is why I tried drastically lowering the PH for a couple of weeks.

20180119_112701-1.jpg

Lilly is doing the same 'palm treeing' I just left the crispy leaves on for reference. Unless something changes, she won't make it to flower either.

20180119_112716-1.jpg

In the Flower area, crispy leaves didn't get better in flowering. My two hempiest may not make it to harvest

20180119_112244-1.jpg

- - - - Bottom line - - - -

Unless I come up with a solution, my hempy crop is a total loss.

I'll try repotting Lilly to lower the osmo+ nutes. Assuming she has a good root system, this probably means washing the perlite from the roots and repotting with less or zero nutes.

I can think of 3 options for using osmo+ nutes:

Option 1) Zero nutes in perlite, sprinkle osmo+ on top later
Option 2) Zero nutes in perlite, sprinkle osmo+ in bottom reservoir later
Option 3) Use a smaller amount of osmo+ nutes in perlite

I might consider buying a single bottle of bottled nutes instead of osmo+, but I'm living off a low income these days so I can't spend $100+ on nutes.

Your opinions and criticism are strongly encouraged.

Don't get too depressed on my behalf, I have one nice girl in flower and will be planting in Doc Bud soil next month. See my next post :)

Carnival - 60 days in flower

Carnival, 60 days in flower. Grown in Doc Bud soil, pre-mixed tea and/or nutes in about 1 gallon of water every other day

20180119_111520-1.jpg

She is still drinking a lot of water. The trichomes are crystal clear - not a touch of cloudy.

20180119_111555-1.jpg

I was expecting to harvest a Carnival this weekend, but she decided to foxtail, so it will be a bit longer.

20180119_111615-1.jpg

I use foxtail to describe whenthe buds are mostly ripe and the pistils have started to turn colors - then new pistils form and the buds get lumpy with new growth. I like new growth. More bud!

20180119_111624-1.jpg

I like the bud to plant ratio. A good amount of bud for a smaller plant :)

20180119_111542-1.jpg

I should probably use another color of lighter for my comparison photos. Lots of glare from the white :)

20180119_111637-1.jpg

Carnival looks great! :bravo:

What you're referring to is what I see in a lot of HB plants near harvest. They'll be ripe and ready for chop, and then they'll start a new surge of calyx building. I always wait several days now to see if it happens, and it almost always does - one of the nicer traits of the HB method. This behavior should run a couple more weeks before it subsides again. Sometimes I've gotten a third wave. :cheesygrinsmiley:

As long as the old trichs aren't turning, it's well worth waiting it out.

It sucks to see your perlite OC+ plants. I was reminded of Doc's rake. :Namaste:

Finally made it.... Read all 138pages pf your last journal... Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, Some may call it torture but I learn a ton from reading the journals start to finish.... Find most of the answers to my questions that way instead of bothering everyone lol. Shame about the hempys turning to a crisp.. You never know, they could pull through! I'll be hanging out in the back of your basement with the old house parts for the rest of the journey! Cheers :thanks:

Hey Rad! Sorry to hear about your hempy grow. I can't offer any help but glad your getting back to the kit soon. Damn that Carnival is amazing looking! Wish I had more seeds. Gray, you can't help but thinking about the rake with any other grow methods! I've said it before and will say it again, switching to Doc's Kit was worth it for the no more ph'ing alone, I hated that!

:passitleft:

Hey there Rad... I'm pulling up a bean bag and hangin in the back row... :passitleft: with a few friends.

Congrats on the beginning of the year harvest, always a good thing to see full jars. Start off the new years right!

Good luck on the job search. If I was hiring, passing the test for cannabis would be a positive result and hired! G/L

I have no clue on growing plants in rocks so no help for ya, other than I'd be getting that rain barrel out and filling up some #3 and #7 containers!

That's just me.. I'm a soil guy. Doc's kit .... no love?

He was having a problem finding a spot to cook it. He has it cooking now but it takes 30 days. (I have no idea how long it has been cooking for) The switch to hempy was to keep him going while not having room to cook it inside due to the low temps. He has since made room in his veg area to cook the soil.
