Radogast 2 - Return of the Clones

Rad,

Your plants look so good right now, bro. I'm looking forward to see what they produce for you. :)

We took a sample off Hani today.

I started with a bud about half way down about the size of a small shot glass. I thought it would be a few grams, but as soon as I picked it, it was obviously airy. Sticky but airy. After being closely trimmed, then dried one hour at 200F, she was about 1/4 what I expected.
My guess at a yield from Hani is a little under 2 oz. In the recent past, I thought it would be much higher

In trimming the bud, there were many small, single bladed leaves. I removed them and put them in with the small, trichome heavy, 5-bladed leaf trim.
My guess is that Hani will yield a little over 1 oz of very high grade trim.

The high from Hani (68 days flower) is a lot more body buzz than head high. Light, smooth flavors that should improve.
Not a large kick, but giggle inducing, muchies making, body tingles that flow through your vody type of high.
I'm high, and its a good high, but I expected more kick from our test sample.
Some of the trichomes may be cloudy, but they all look clear to me.

We'll take another sample in 2 days (at 70 days flower.)

.

Yeah,

I usually don't sample anymore just because it's so different than what you actually get. Although, I just got my vape back from my sister, so I may give vaping a fresh bud a try. It's supposed to work some, I guess.

I wanted to sample for two reasons: I need to convince myself to pay attention to harvest timing. To tell my brain harvest is actually coming. The second reason is I don't have a good feel for when to harvest - should I harvest at half-cloudy, full cloudy, next full moon? For some reason, I am not feeling the timng. So this sample is to give my intuition a taste of the plants essence. To signal my spirit that it should connect to the spirit of the plant.

I hope my intuitional awareness wakes up :)

Yesterday, a new vape arrived in the mail.

The Innotech iTaste MVP3.0 Pro has a large 4500mah capacity hat supports 3-9 volts, 6-60 watts and 0.2-3.0 ohms.
The digital screen diagnostics include a display of ohms (resistance) to the 100th place. Since this vape mod, also came with a 510 to eGo adapter, it made an excelent tool to diagnose and refurbish a handful of old eGo style vape pens, tanks and wick assemblies.

Parts that had not worked in many months are now parts of functioing eGo vape pens, like this one.

20150719_105100.jpg

All together, I was able to clean and put back into service, 4 of 6 wick assemblies, 4 of 5 tanks, and 2 of 4 battery assemblies.
This took several hours and lots of research, testing, cleaning and testing - but it all came together and I know a lot more about liquid vapes than I did.

Here is how my wife arranged the tanks and vape liquids.

New vape mod pictured with an iSub Glass tank with 0.5 sub ohm wick assembly that creates massive clouds of vapor.

Improved eGo tank and performance was all about learning how they work and adjusting and moving misplaced seals, maintaining high levels of liquid to insure proper vacuum performance. Improved wick assembly performance was about measuring resistance, understanding burnt wicks, cleaning, and discarding heater coils. Improved battery module performance was all about - charging.

I had never studied the vape pens or charger because my wife handled the purchase and care. My involvement was in swapping around parts until we had a working combination. This was going around with annoying frequency until it seemed no combination actually worked. Something not identified at the time, one of our chargers failed right before everything stopped working.

OK this story is getting long, so cut to the chase.

After the working charger failed we were left with a charger that NEVER worked because it was manufactured with the wrong threads.

The charger was made with 510 circumference and depth but a non-510 threading. The charger only screwed in two half turns instead of 7-8 turns to make contact with the charging button - but since we had never seen a 510 adapter before, we didn't know that was wrong. Charging couldn't happen because with the wrong threading, the charger parts don't fit on any known version of a vaporizer - sneaky, lying corporate thieves. They had to know it was useless when they sold it with the vape battery.

Rather than tap new threads into plastic, I modified a picture hanging nail by cutting he shaft and trimming the head to precise eyeball verified standards. The charging button makes electrical contact with the battery button via the modified picture nail without touching the sides of the tube that conduct the opposing current.

After successfully charging a battery that the charger formerly reported as charged when it never made contact (nasty orks,)
I superglued my shaped metal adapter into place and charging works fine.

Wow Rado!

That's some great work!

You should write the company an e-mail and tell them they are dicks.

That's what I'd do.

Still, +Reps for due diligence.

 The purchase was over a year ago.

The non logo company product was model s001.
I doubt they even created a model s002 before they went out of business under that name and opened up again under another business name,.

I have an iStick 50W that has been great for vaping, it too is a variable (2V-10V)/(5W-50W) with 4400 mAh battery.
In the future I will make my own ejuice from home grown produce. Have you tried any of the 'attachments' for vaping raw 'herbs'.

Nice bit of engineering with the nail adaptor :) Those tanks look like the tubes in my guitar amps - pretty cool

I like the iStick 50w. Nice shape in the palm and plenty of power and features. My wife chose this one. I think she did well. If she chose the iStick 50, I would probably also think she did well.

My wife has a MagicFlight for dry herb vaping. We are a nicotine free household (except for potential pesticide use.) The liquid vapes are mostly for oral stimulation and blowing smoke rings :) We will be trying homemade cannabinoid tincture, but if it doesn't work we can move on to sub lingual Rick Simpson Oil without feeling this vape money was wasted. The only thing we like wasted :hippy: is friends and family :)

Trimming question

In the photo below, I have separated an airy bud into two groups: flower & stem, and leaves.
Leaves can be further divided into single-blade leaves, and multi-blade leaves.

When trimming, is the goal to remove all the multi-blade leaves and leave the single-blade leaves?

20150719_110853-11.jpg

I would think that on most plants there are still a some large single blade leaves which wouldn't really contribute to the smoke if left. Not that i have done a bunch of trimming. But just from what I have done there are some small ones I would leave and larger ones that would get removed with most of the multi leaves.

If ever, oh ever a wiz there was,
Then Radogast is one because,
Because, because, because, because, because!
Because of the clever things he does!

Love the post on your fix-itness with the vape pens! Outstanding work! :cheertwo::thumb:

When I trim I'm not as concerned so much with aesthetics (not saying you are) but with the trichomes. I cut off anything without sugar and leave everything with decent frosting in place to curl around the buds as it dries and cures. Those sugar leaves have the most potent trichomes. Why remove them?

When I smoke I always do a mix of sugar leaves and buds in the bowl. It's like a little piece of art with each hit. Makes me appreciate what I'm partaking. That and it's a really sweet high. :cheesygrinsmiley:

This gif almost made me buy popcorn at the dollar store this morning !

Instead, i was a good boy and bought a screen hamper for drying my buds ;)

I can't believe I never thought about this. Thank you.

I absolutely love this spiritual approach to harvesting. Did you by chance watch that video Cannabelle left at the Spot and think of how that attitude translates to growing cannabis, or anything else for that matter, huh?

Incidentally, when I quick dry in the oven I do 225 degrees for 30 minutes and the effects are always incredible. You may be over cooking.

I discovered this morning that it works for 2 out of 3 of the vape pens. I'll have to drop by the local vape store and buy a real charger :)

I'd already used the reps up on you for some other act of brilliance. Please accept this instead. :high-five:

Alright, I've dallied long enough getting somewhat caught up. I've a meditation calling me. Later. :hugs:

The mites are back in the garden room. Flower room is still mite free. Sprayed with SNS217.

It's as if I wasn't watching for a few days. Lots of white bites.

20150720_213007.jpg

The little girls are especially chewed up.

20150720_213001.jpg

Early veg looks sad and tired.

20150720_213436.jpg

White Widow Bellatrix C2 was attacked but she is vigorous (in a fragile debutante sort of way.)

Bella will go into the flower room after she gets clear of bugs.

The last of the C1 clones in veg is starting to soften up and grow larger. After 434 days, she still needs veg time

From oldest to youngest! The Northern Lights planted a week ago poked through the soil.
