Go check out furcifer threads the alien has landed he makes understanding lights and spectrums well or look up dr Harvey on google you tube . I learned so much about spectrum from that man and penny and furcifer .

I'm finding out in January. I haven't seen anything this side of the pond that was worth mentioning using the LEDs. I think it's down to our lack of experience using them and the s*** brands that are available.

I want to do a fair a test as possible so need some recommendations on the closest LED (and/or COB. I'm an ignorant SOB who doesn't know the difference ;) that can do the same job as a 600w HPS

I've heard it all about terpenes, trichomes and yields. At this stage I don't care!! It's an experimental garden that, for me at least, will provide an insight into what is a better light to use.

I'm a guerrilla grower. It's not for fun so I have to consider.

-Initial outlay (I buy the best lights, if you pay cheap it costs you later so please point me in the direction of a solid company!)

-Coverage: Space is money

-Running cost: HPS is more expensive so don't worry about that

-Detectability: again I think LEDs spindly beat HPS on this

If there's anything else anyone could add please let me know

You could check out Neil at growpotcheaply.com he's a member here and owns Perfect Sun Leds. A lot of us are using his lights, his Goliath is a monster.
 
And hes reasonable wit his price for wat the light can do hes not chargin enough in my opion but hes not he a decent person that dont rip people off hope that doesnt afeend any1 on 420 by sayin that but ye top lights hes makin
 
I bought one of his original PS1000 and some diodes went out and he sent me a new light from a later model. Solid customer service.

Out take fan ? So turned off box fan and will aeee what happens won't go above 73 lol

I'm down with my lights, the spectrums, they throw out, LUX, lumens, PAR. It's one of the reasons I want to try LEDS so much!

it's the info I've found online stating the wattage lights run on and what they actually put out. I don't know if it's European suppliers but I can't seem to find anything worth the time. It's not going to do what it says on the tin.

HPS have the same problem. I will only grow with Gavita lights after years of losing half my power (which to me means half my yield, potency but double the electric bill and more potential for fires) using cheaper lights (I know money doesn't grow on trees...er does it? I backed out of a group grow and stayed skint instead of going through the nightmare of using cheap lights for what would have been a big, big garden. Only problem was that it was financially stupid as the crap lights wouldn't have covered the cost of rent and what not. And potentially burned the gaff down which is frowned upon in many parts of the world (Gaff means house/building/place, sorry!)

I have seen what you lot do with the LEDs. I KNOW THEY PRODUCE THE DANK DIDDY DANK. I need to know where I stand with them though.

Am I going to get HPS tattooed on my knuckles or LEDs (knuckles on other hand already have "I LUV" so need an answer from someone quick ;)

What is the most comparable LED to a 600w HPS. I know the money doesn't compare so no 4 grand suggestions please :)

I love led ive seen crystals trichromes form
Harvest on here with 1000 watt led and 1000 watt hps. And I know led produce better then hps plus way sharper run cooler easier to control temps I find .
 
You need to take in accountability of the size of space I love these fushion boards man no heat really .
Pretty powerful light and I would go with white light technology I look for efficiency ppfd what it can penetrate down low how intense it can be? I like lots of blue in veg I want white light so I can see my plants better for issues that can occur . So many factors bro

I started with a 600w hps but it's all dust covered now, hps will generally produce more but led wins in the quality dept.
