ProfessorFlora's Wilma LED Auto Photoperiod Showcase: First Journal

It has been eye opening for sure. I have had equal amounts stress and fun. Hopefully the amount of fun will increase with every grow.
Yes, I can relate to that. Trust me, it's like with anything, soon enough you'll get a feel for things and then maybe get more adventurous and experimental.....then new problems and stresses! Only kidding. But seriously if you keep it up you'll learn to read the plants and get a kind of connection that's unique. Keep up the good work ☺

I've been so preoccupied with sorting out the flowering tent that I've not really noticed how much the autos have grown. I forget just how fast autos can be. I've added some flowering nutes to the res and hoovered out the tent. That's how exciting my day with them has been. I'm going to put a net up shortly so I can keep the main colas down and for a bit of support but I don't expect them to get that big. Things could of course all change over the next couple of weeks.
The flowering tent is up and in full swing. The ladies all seem to be growing fine. There is definitely a small amount (and some big) of growth since yesterday. That means that the transplant didn't hurt them one bit. Now we have the flowering stretch to look forward to. I'll decide how i handle things getting out of hand as it happens. I like to make things exciting!

peace

I got home from work late and the flower tent has been in darkness for an hour so no photos from that one today, don't want to disturb them. We can still see what the autos are up to though. Back in a bit with some pics, just have to do my daily chores first.

Auto Update

They are growing like crazy! Flowers are also starting to appear on the White Widow and the Glueberry. The Purple Skunk will probably catch up in a few days and the Sour Melon will probably start next week. There starting to drink a lot more now as well. Still probably 2 weeks until they reach their full height. Then I may defoliate or maybe not, it all depends how much they fill out, autos can get very leafy. I always worry when I grow autos because of the lack of control regarding their final height. It's normally ok though

Mother update

Just a cheeky little mother update. I'd like to introduce you to ganja kittie! She would quite happily help me to defoliate my crops, hell, I wouldn't even need to ask. I've never seen a creature love weed so much. Anyway, I've reset my plants and will take cuttings from them in about 6 weeks. They'll be back to normal by then however if I had left them too grow they'd need more nutrient feeds more often. So that's more work and more money, oh and more space or i could just....chop their heads off! It looks scary but I've done it a few times now. I only let them grow when I need them and I only need two of each plant. Also the Tahoe OG has yet to show its gender and that's the reason I've not chopped it yet.

Peace

Flowering Day 3

i knew that there would be some size differences with the mixture of strains that I have. Oh sorry, forgot to say hi.....Hi. My predictions are that the SFV OG and Fruit Tree will be the tallest and the Boss Hogg will be the shortest. The Black Kush and Island Punch are unknowns with next to no info on them. The IP has Gorilla Glue genetics so it could be bushy. It also has Purple Punch genetics which I've never grown. The BK is Blackwater X SFV OG. They've all been topped apart from one of the IP's and one of the BK's. I'll try to see if there ready and maybe top them in a little while. Things are coming on slowly but surely. There still a little bit discoloured and look a little haggard but the new growth is looking healthy. In a week or two hopefully they will be looking like normal little cannabis plants. I'm still getting used to used to clones. I've only been doing it for a year and out of the 6 times I've done it 2 of them have failed. This one nearly failed because I got roots really early and got overconfident. Then I removed them from the cloner too soon. It was ok in the end but it was close.
back in a bit with the auto update.

All is good in autoland! They have been so far a pleasant experience to grow offering me little resistance. I know that chances are they will be good to me to the end. I find with autos that if there was going to be a problem i would probably know about it by now. There's still a chance i could get a long/slow blossomer or nutrient issues in mid to late flower due to the fact that they are 4 different strains with 4 different needs sharing the same res. I've just added another 10ltr water to the tank containing only flowering nutes now at just over full strength. Tank is now 900ppm. Hope everyone's had a good day

Hey lovely people. A 2 for 1 update for you today. Firstly the photo tent is doing well. I think it's clear now that We are going to have some different heights come the end. There is 2 in there that didn't get the start i was hoping for and will suffer because of it. I don't think it will be too bad but it's just the way it is. Also I have a feeling that the boss hoggs will be shorter that the others as well. I was wondering if anyone has grown it or grown any chem 4. Apparently boss Hogg is a chem 4 incross. All but the fruit trees have a little bit of nutrient burn but also have decent growth. Other than a few minor issues I'm quite pleased with their progress so far but it's still early. Now onto the autos. There still doing their thing, there growing. There's no sign of any deficiency or nutrient burn on any of them. That surprises me because of their apparently differing needs. They really are hardy. And they are fast. They are still feeding at 900ppm and I'll raise that to 1000 on the weekend. They are starting to show some character now and look more like the finished product but are obviously not there yet. They are still spindly and are forming new bud sites every day. I can never tell how well autos will yield until late in the game unlike my photos which i can sort of tell by week 4ish. And lastly my temp issue has been eradicated. The new LED grow light is running really cool, about 6-8 degrees cooler infact. And the 2 units i have running in the auto/veg tent which are 400 actual watts when run together are running at a similar temp. They are in a bigger tent though so there is more space for heat to disperse. However what you can't see it the pics is that both tent are actually in a large cuboard. I don't have a way of venting hot air out of the cupboard (at least a stealthy way), across the room and then out of a window. Also I don't want to vent out of a window because of noise and bad (lovely) smells that may escape when the carbon filter starts to ware out. Another thing to remember is heat is expensive! In the winter it's great to have a 600w HPS both heat your house and grow you some filthy dank at the same time. That's all for now folks, I think, I normally post my comment then realise I've forgotten something important like talking about my plants.

happy growing people

Good evening everyone. Hope you've all had a wonderful day. Mine was soaking wet but that's enough about that. Firstly the autos are growing faster each day. They're exploding now. I don't think that they'll be very big plants. I'm going to put the net in the tent tomorrow and bend them down into a more workable shape. White Widow is quite stretchy and the Sour Melon is so short and squat at the moment she looks tiny compared to the others. She still has more stretching to do yet though. There is loads of flowering sites appearing now on all but the melon. In the flowering tent there's not really much to report on. The temp has dropped considerably and the humidity has also risen a huge amount. I think I can solve this without to much of a problem. I could add another light to increase temps then remove it if the heatwave returns. The humidity won't be much of a problem, at least not now. Well that's it for this one. Back tomorrow for more on these two. Or maybe later if the cat eats them or something :)

Hi all at 420. Hope you are all doing great. I've got a bit of a relaxed weekend ahead of me. Not much to do in the tents at the moment other than wait. I will be putting a net into my auto tent later but other than that it's just about being paitient. The Wilma 10 pot in the flower tent at this stage won't need topping up or any major adjustments for a week or so. The smaller Wilma 4 pot needs to be topped up much more often. Soon I'll need to top it up every couple days. But for now the autos aren't drinking too heavily. I'll do some more updates later and put on a load more pics for you to see. Happy growing people

What kind of scrog net are you using? Looks like a cargo net for a truck. I was looking at them on eBay last week. I tried a veggie trellis. I ended up looking like a kitten caught in a ball of yarn. No go.

It's a cheap one from amazon. It's called a Light House of something like that and it's ok. It's really stretchy. The holes are really wide and it's a bit weak in my 1m X 1m. The plants will probably push through it a bit. Second thoughts I've changed my mind, it's not that good. It works ok for general support near the end of flowering though. I'll probably look for something at bit more sturdier in the future.
