ProfessorFlora's 10 Strain 200W LED Organic Soil Grow

Hey @ProfessorFlora ...

This is my first swing at this ... but I want to give your "Earth's 7 Continents" grow a real shot ...

I decided to save my FF Ocean Forest soil from my recent harvests ... and I put it in a big heavy duty storage bin ...
  • Capacity: 170 L (45 US gal)
  • Dimensions: 20" x 32.3" x 21.4" (50.8 x 82 x 54.4 cm)
I pulled out the roots ... chopped them up and then put them back into the soil and mixed them up.

I had some fresh FF Ocean Forest soil that I added in too.

I read about replenishing the soil ... so I added in 6 litres (1.5 gallons) of some Advanced Nutrients stuff I had ...

*** Voodoo Juice (beneficial bacteria)
*** Piranha (beneficial fungi)
*** Tarantula (beneficial microbes)
*** B-52 (B vitamins)
*** Rhino Skin (Silica)
*** Ancient Earth (Humic Acids)
*** Sensizyme (breakdown dead root material)
*** Gaia Green Earth Worm Castings

I figured I better get some more advice just in case I'm missing something ...

Right now everything is sitting in the bin ... is this called cooking?

Will the micro-life grow?

Sounds like you have it sorted. The life in the bin will certainly be growing. It takes a lot to truly kill all the Micro herd and its not something you can easily do by mistake or even intentionally. It'll love the environment you've created for it. I'm not sure of the correct terminology but I think that what you are doing could be called cooking. One thing I might mention is that the soil could be what is called "hot". This means that it may be too strong for seedlings. How are you starting the seeds? Looking at your ingredients though I'd say that it's should be fine. Will you be using photos or autos? With photos you'll have a bit of room for error but with the Autos once they're in that pot that's it. Good luck SQ!

The "Police Acadamy 7" Grow Update....

Hey 420! I've managed to work out how to take usable photos with the camera. Basically it won't focus if it's zoomed in at all. The more you zoom in the more unstable it becomes....

That purple is gorgeous in the natural light. Thanks for schlepping it outside for the pics (you must not read my journal if double H was your intro to "schlepping" ;) ).

All those of cotton wool balls on the 7 years war of the roots...sweet!
Lol! Hey Shed. I've only just seen your comment halfway through writing this post. I would be lying if I said that I'd read all of your journal. I'd be lying if I said I'd read 10% of it lol. You'll have to forgive me as it's quite daunting. ive got some more CM pics coming up. She's going insanely dark now and I think I can see some red! I'll need you guys to confirm my discovery though.

Right! Back to the update. The camera seems to be holding out and has taken some ok pics today. I've finished tying down the branches that were in the way and I've repositioned some that were being sheltered. The little fluffy Guy heads are starting to develop some individuality now and they don't all look the same. Let's see what we have today....

I'm getting close ... and what started out as fun with you actually got me inspired.

I'm going to learn a bit more about soil and replenishing ... so I bounced this off of @Emilya and @MrSauga too.

@Emilya ... I think she is a soil guru ... and her answer made my head spin ... so there's a few more things she said I can do.

It turns out @MrSauga is using something called Mega Crop with his soil ... which is all the buzz over on @Pennywise 's thread right now.

In case you're interested ... you can get a free 500g sample if you pay $6.95 for shipping.

Cool ... It's interesting to know that the microlife is alive and well ... I originally thought they needed the plants.

Okay ... hot soil ... I will be careful ...

Right now I am putting clones and seedlings into 2 inch Rockwool cubes before I transplant them into coco.

And I am using Jiffy pellets for clones and seedlings before I transplant them into soil.

I am done with autos forever now ... I can't believe they take a great photoperiod and cross it with a "ditch weed" ... no thanks ... not for me. I will use a photoperiod and the 2 extra weeks in veg to get a much higher quality plant.

Anyway I want to rant about my bad autoflower experience ... but I won't ... grrr!
Thanks amigo!!!

The Crystal METH Auto Update....

Next time it's not raining during the day I'll take her outside for some more pics. The frost is like a Crystal white dusting that catches the light and stands out against her dark hues. If you look closely you can see what appears to be some reddish patches on some of the top bud. It might just be purple though. She seems to be quite happy for now though it looks like there may be some nitrogen toxicity on one of the leaves near the top as it's a very dark green and showing some claw. The whole plant is a dark green though so maybe it's nothing to worry about....

Hello all you wonderful people who take interest in Cannabis!

This will be my third journal for 420 and this time I'm going back to soil. I'm going to essentially be doing the same as before but without the aid of my "make things easy" recirculating dripper system. I haven't grown in soil for over a year now and after being on this site for a few months it's made me miss the dirty stuff. I'm going to be using Biobizz products for this grow. I'm still going to be using only 200w of lighting like I did in my last grow because I like it. There's no heat issues anymore and as far as I can tell the yield of my test grow with them are fairly good. Also I'm really liking the passive cooling, I don't like the fans on cheaper and older models, it's something extra to go wrong and they can be really loud. I'll be using the same tent that is 2'x4' so there's not a lot of space to play with for 10 plants. This grow will be from seed to harvest so I'll be able to document everything. Also I'd like to thank @Preston9mm @InTheShed @Virgin ground @Pennywise @MrSauga @AngryBird @Mr. Magoo @Dutchman1990 and @ddGreenThumb for helping me by picking a seed each from my collection for me to grow. It's given me a great mix and was fun not knowing what I was going to be growing in my garden. Well on with the info....

For this grow I'll be using the following...

Biobizz Allmix 50ltr
Biobizz fish mix
Biobizz bio-bloom
Biobizz top max
1ltr fabric pots
3ltr fabric pots
Gorilla Lite tent 2ft x 4ft
SD Silent fan 4inch
Rhino carbon filter 4inch
Ducting 4inch
Desktop fan 8inch
2 100w dimmable Luminus COB LEDs
Thermometer
Hygrometer
PH pen

And the strains chosen by some of the lovely people at 420 will be...
Purple Chem-Cali Connection
Double Stuffed Sorbet-DNA Genetics
Currylato-The Plug Seedbank
24K Gold-DNA Genetics
Critical Cheese-Dinafem
Dieselicious-Freedom Of Seeds
California Orange-Expert Seeds
Northern Lights-Sensi Seeds
Cotton Candy Cane-Emerald Triangle Seeds
Heavy Grapefruit-Europa Seeds

Well I'm sure I've forgotten something important but for now that is it. Now for some pics of the Great Planting. Happy growing everyone :)

I used 1ltr fabric pots which I then cut in half to make 500ml fabric solo cups. I can use these to keep plants free from becoming root bound for the entire veg period

I think everyone who's grown Autos has one of those experiences lol. Until recently I have been using MegaCrop and really rate it. Definitely listen to Sauga on that one. I'm sure he works for them. I'm currently using MasterBlend but would like to return to MegaCrop when more becomes available. It's not as easy to get hold of in the uk. Emilya is a soil guru and you'll learn a lot from her threads.

Welcome aboard safeman
I think he’s wondering who the heck ever thought crystal meth was a good name for a weed strain?
I can't think of many worse ones. I'm sure there are but I can't think of any of the top of my head.

Finally I thought I'd show you what I've done to the mother plants....
ORG_DSC06537.JPG

I'm keeping them nice and small until they're needed to save on time and energy. When they're this size they don't need as much feed or as frequent waterings meaning that I can just leave them to do their thing. They'll only take a couple weeks to return to a good size again and I'll trim them back every 3-4 weeks. I'll check them again tomorrow and see if they need the roots pruned at all. The Purple Trainwreck and Pineapple Express are getting on a bit for the pot size they're in and it won't be long before they start to show signs of being root bound....
