PotChimp's Side Projects

^ What he said.

I look for a certain gnarliness to the buds - fat calyxes with dried up hairs - an overall heaviness to the plant - sagging top buds, etc.

Unless I harvest very early or very late, the high seems to be pretty consistent, and I get a lot more weight if I wait. :bongrip:

I took a look at the lineage of Zombie Death Fuck yesterday; it's GSC x the LA cut of OG Kush. I've never done any cut of anyone's OG Kush that I was impressed by (even though I've only done about three). I've liked a few of the OG Kush crosses I've grown, but can't remember how many I didn't like. I grew two cuts of GSC when they first came out and didn't really like the buzz of either one. I remember doing a GSC cross that turned up all three males, but don't remember growing and smoking any crosses. So, we'll see..... :nerd-with-glasses:

I've held off running any cookie or OGs for a long time. I finally popped an OG last month so we'll see. I'll try a cookie at some point, but I have a bunch of other stuff I'd much rather run first. I did run a Tangie Ghost Train Haze that I loved....so I know some of the OG crosses are great.

I wish I would have read what Boss Hogg's lineage was years ago. It's Chem 4. Man, now I'm really hoping one or two of 'em grow.
Gorilla Glue #4's lineage is Sour Dubb x Chem Sis (from cede-finder). That one doesn't sound too bad, I guess.
Not only Chem 4 but a select Chem 4 in cross is what my notes indicate.

Somewhere I ventured today they were discussing various cuts of OG Kush. I have the Sour Dubb (reportedly) crossed with the Hell's Angel OG. The cross is Sour Angel bred by In House Gentics and it can make me wobble at any time of day so either or both the Sour Dubb is everything I've ever heard and the Hell's Angel is really good.

That's the other parent that caught my attention. That Sour Dubb. :thumb:

This grow area is doing okay:

I'm gonna defoliate this Ghost Train Haze #1 (speaking of which, I'll be starting my fem seed project of that in a few days):

I like most of these offspring from that Nevil's Haze x Apollo 13 f2 cross I did (I topped the first one because of grey mold):

Apollo 13 f3 offspring; first plant:

Blackberry Trainwreck:

I chopped through this with a machete, saw some dude, and asked, "Dr. Livingston, I presume?" He said, "Yes!", to which I replied "Sorry; I'm looking for Dr. Grinspoon."

:D

I lost one of those Mendocino Chanel Kush seedlings today. It was growing upside down and the top did what the tap root usually does; go downward. I dug around it with a toothpick and tried to wash the soil away with water so I could turn it right side up, but the water dripping on it broke the stem in half. None of the Boss Hogg seeds have popped up yet, either. Oh well.....

How are you feeling about the white LEDs now?

Bloom - I like how few watts I'm using compared to the amount of bud I'm getting (money savings), but CMH has better quality buds (smell, color, and taste).

Grow - As soon as I get the height of the light fixture for each stage of growth dialed in, I have a feeling I won't strongly hate them anymore (like I do now).

I decided to put both the Pre '98 Bubba Kush S1 plants I have under my 315w CMH for that exact reason; to get the best taste out of them. I've got room for a plant if I need to put one in, but I think I better leave room to bend some of these down.
I'm wondering what to replace those duds with. I think I'll go with all freebies, all well known breeders, and definitely all Indicas (or hybrids that grow dense and leafy). Grey mold is going dormant, so I better take advantage of this time I have for growing plants that are prone to it. I was thinking of maybe a Critical cross. I'll decide tomorrow (if none of the other seedlings come up).

Connie Chung.....Hmmm....that one I haven't heard of before LOL

It's LA Confidential x G13 Haze :) I got 'em for free many many moons ago. I've grown LA Confidential, but haven't grown any of my G13 Haze seeds yet. I've grown one of these before and liked it, too. I saw Connie Chung on TV endorsing a presidential candidate which she's never done before due to her impartiality as a journalist, which I'm very grateful for. It reminded me of those seeds.
I think I might drop two more seeds, so I better watch the news again to get me some strain ideas.
Colorado, huh? I got it! Fire OG!

I dug down with a toothpick and found one struggling Boss Hogg seedling. I cleared the area around it, but it's weak. It was almost brown yesterday, so it might make it, you just never know:

As soon as I can find a spray bottle, I'm going to start my Ghost Train Haze #1 selfing project. I'll spray the plant in front and pollinate the plant in back :thumb:

If this works out, I could save myself years of trying to breed crosses out to stabilize them (or get something close to them, if it's even possible). Then I could just breed plants out for the fun of it. :)

Killer A5 Haze update - I've got three of the six plants I grew in a night time tent, and three in a day time tent. These are the day time three. This plant and a second plant in the night time tent have almost exactly the same structure:

These two plants and one plant in the night time tent are very similar, including the flowers. They stretch a lot:

And there's one last one that's kind of in between the two, stretchy but not as bad. I've checked for male parts because it seems like the hairs shouldn't be mostly brown yet (7 weeks and 2 days of 12/12), but there aren't any I can see. I'll try to get pics up of the other three later.

Third Killer A5 Haze plant that stretches too much:

In-between Killer A5 Haze plant:

I tried to take the first two pics so they'd be one on top of the other and match, but they're not lined up :) This is the only one of these Killer A5 Haze plants that's growing decently and looks a lot like that one plant in the last post:

I need to get better pics of this Blackberry Trainwreck plant. It's just as good looking as most of the rest:
