PotChimp's Side Projects

I'm going to do a few grows to their end and see the results before I make a decision, but from what I'm seeing so far I think I may go with a 175w MH and another 315w CMH in the future for these 6th and 7th grow areas. In an open area where I could turn the driver up to full power it would probably be different, but at 70% power I get pretty weak growth. I might even cut out this 7th grow area if I have to. Ahh, it was worth a try.....

Unit 1: 150w LED - seedling stage
Unit 2: (4) 24w t5s - end of seedling stage to 6 weeks old
Unit 3: 250w MH - 6 weeks old to bloom
then -
Unit 4: 315w CMH - all of bloom
Unit 5: other 315w CMH - all of bloom
Unit 6: 230w LED - set at 12/12 and used temporarily for plants that I can't get under the 315w CMH yet.
or -
Unit 7: 200w CFL - set at 12/12 and used for breeding projects

That'll be my setup until I get up some more dough..... :thumb:

You are inspiring me to think again about getting some CMH. I keep completely forgetting about that option. Been looking at getting more LEDs but still undecided. I do need heat for the grow.
I was just looking at a 315 CMH, the Hortilux one, and noticed it says ‘height above canopy -3 feet’. Not sure I like the sound of that but I know we both like to grow plants to the ceiling, so I guess they actually meant to say ‘three inches’ ?

I normally grow to 12 inches away from my HPS bulbs. Seems like as long as the overall temps don’t get too high they don’t usually burn till within six/eight inches or so. When one of those rare sunny days comes along here and the venting can’t keep up, I start seeing more burned tips. Otherwise mostly just upturned leaf edges. But like I say it basically never gets warm here

No problem :)
Well, my Hippie Killer seed is open, but the tail is coming out slow. All 6 Killer A5 Haze seeds are opened and have tails, and 4 out of 5 Blackberry Trainwreck seeds do, too. The last BT is opened up but the tail isn't out yet. I'll plant them tomorrow. :thumb:

You going to love the KA5H!!! Here is mine going on day 24 of flower....big girl.

All six of mine are up too; damn, they yield pretty well, huh? :thedoubletake:
These aren't grouped, but here's those sixteen plants I started about a month ago. The mothers were both the Apollo 13 f2 and the Nevil's Haze plants I've been keeping, and the father was an Apollo 13 f2 that looked similar in structure and had a smell that was close to the female I kept:

I'm looking forward to seeing what both look like, especially the Nevil's Haze offspring.

Nevil's Haze (same plant I was talking about above);

I started these 12 Chemdawg D BX3 plants (from my first breeding of the original seeds) about two months ago, and today after 8 days of 12/12 I culled three males. I have nine females left:

I'm just looking for a female with mostly Chem D traits, and I'll regenerate it then grow some of my Chem D v1.1 seeds (from my third breeding of the original seeds) and look for a father.

Yield will depend on which pheno you get. ACE's site breaks down the different phenos pretty well if you are interested.

The cut I am running is a good yielder but watch out....the colas get very big and you know what that means...potential for Boytris. I Have found my cut likes to grow in its final pot from the get go....much better nodal spacing. They get real tight in small pots. Luckily my cut has very little stretch. The branches just become a branch covered in buds....so again, big buds and lots of them....keep your air flow good. I lost about a third of it on my last harvest to bud rot. I was kind of slack on cleaning up her undercarriage and it cost me. I had to chop her about 10 days earlier than I like to just to save any. So as much as people rave....there is a darkside to them.

Here's the next Carnival plant coming up the shoot! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Apollo 13 f2:

Ghost Train Haze #1:

One foxtailed Nevil's Haze cola (both plants I have to chop tomorrow are like that):

Got greedy with it.....

Which one of these Killer A5 Haze phenos is the one everybody likes the most? All six of these are fem, so I might get lucky and get all four that the website described.

It would have to be the Malawi phenos. I don't remember anyone talking about the silver Malawi, but the NL Haze wouldn't be anything to rave about - gotta be the Killer Malawi influence. That stuff is potent on its own!

A few of them have skinny leaves :thumb:
They're not in order, but here's my latest breeding disaster :cheesygrinsmiley: Eight Apollo 13 f3 and eight Nevil's Haze x Apollo 13 f2 plants:

I'll try to get a pic up if I remember, but I've smoked some of the Cannabis Afghanica x Apollo 13 f2 (same father as the plants above). IMHO, it's an improvement to the original CA I started with (which is the first time I've ever managed to do that). The mother smelled great (like cake batter), but didn't have good potency to it. I'm thinking that means the Apollo 13 f2 father I used must have some hair on its a$$.
