Poor, CFL, Stealth, Maybe a Little Luck?

I have my first set of true leaves! They're tiny but they're there. I don't know if it's the humidity that did it or just nature, guess we'll never know ;) And I want yalls opinion on this, is it weird that the little seedling isn't growing tall like I see in other journals? I'm guessing it will in good time, I have just always seen it grow tall, then grow leaves.
P.S. Is it leafs or leaves?
You can't really see anything in this picture so let me explain. The cotyledon are there, one is sticking up and one is snagged on the seed. In between the cotyledon are the first true leaves, they're just trying to absorb up some light and get bigger :)
84hours in...

Last update for tonight as it's nearly 2am. 87 hours in and the seed shell is almost tossed, I'm also getting some vertical growth, its about 15mm high... see you in the morning

If you give them enough light they won't stretch like you see in a lot of pics of seedlings.

Also, even within the same strain, you get some variation in how individual plants look and grow. This starts as soon as they sprout.

Congratulations on your baby, BTW!

SS

Well I have a 30watt 2000 lumen CFL 3 inches over it so ya. And thanks I'm proud to finally be a father ;) BTW everyone who's following, after the seedling stage is over I'm going to be creating a little collage so you can see it grow. Kind of like a time lapse in picture form.

This is my 123 post ;)

Your girl is looking good! Come on, grow baby, grow! :grinjoint:

Fill that cup with soil ... More soil , more light and you0l be fine ...

One of the things I learned from my first grow was that it's really easy to overwater. These plants seem to like a lot of drainage. When you transplant to a larger container, consider adding about 20% extra perlite to your soil mix. You can get a little bag of perlite at most stores like Home Depot for about $4. This will help with drainage. This also allows the medium to dry out well in between waterings, which these plants seem to really like.

Grats on starting your journal. You might think about modifying the bottom of the box and possibly mount an 80mm fan to force more air in. I know you're going for the stealth option, but keeping that box lid over your 120mm is restricting your ventilation and retaining the heat at the top, almost acting as an insulator in the top of your grow box. Would you be able to side mount the exhaust fan on the back side so nobody can see it? You would get much better air flow that way. Just a thought. GL

FUCKCCKCKC NOOOOOO
I think that is appropriate because my baby just had a major tragedy. I was working in my box and I dropped my knife onto the cup and the cup fell over!!! I thought my baby fell out so I was looking like crazy but it got buried in some dirt so i brushed the dirt away and I'm hoping it will live... See look she's not even in the center of the cup anymore. Talk about shocking the plant, bitch just went through an earthquake.

That sucks! I bet if you give her a little water (maybe mist the surface of the soil with a spray bottle) she'll probably be okay, especially if the root didn't get damaged. Hope she is okay...

I hope so too. Only time will tell I suppose. Also I found some square pots that are the perfect size for me to fit 2 plants inside my box :grinjoint: They're 8.5"x8.5" 10 Liter pots. Oh and I installed another exhaust fan on the side.

Thanks for the support Ms. Fox. I just started germing another seed, I'll stop by my hydroshop in a week or so to pick up the square pots and nutes. I'm so excited about having 2 plants, I'll only have a 25% chance to have 2 boys.

Good luck on your grow, I had a single seed germinating in some soil a week ago and it was about 2cm tall, but it sadly died due to me accidently knocking it over or a leaf mutation:/. I hope you have better luck than I did hahaha(;

Cannabis is pretty tough! I just had a clone in and I knocked it completley over and bascially it fell out of the cup. I put it back in stood it up and sprayed some foilar feed on it as well as some Ph'd Water and it is ok! She should be fine just be careful!!!!! No Meds while Gardening is my new rule after that happened :grinjoint:

Update: I have two seedlings going now, they're 5 days apart.
So my baby survived it's mishap and it's growing at a steady pace.

I put this seed into the ground only 45 hours ago, must be healthy! FYI when I germ I don't wait for the seed to crack, I just soak for 24 hours then plant into the soil. It's amazing how quick they realize it's time to grow.

Also here's a image I made to review the seedling process of my first plant

I like you time-laps photos of the seedlings, pretty cool! :ganjamon:

Glad to see you other seedling is doing good. :smokin:

Yeah, it'll be fine. When I was moving my Mazar-Afghan over, from the cup it sprouted in to it's home, I dropped it and tore half the root ball off. I was told cannabis is a hardy plant and it's no lie. People don't call it Weed for nothin'.

I love seeing them when they're all tiny like that.

Seeds vs. Clones

According to some experts, plants grown from seed grow with more vigor than those grown from clones. I seem to remember George Cervantes said this in a recently published magazine article (or possibly in his grow DVD, can't remember for sure. :smokin: ) Personally, I've never grown plants from clones, but I have grown seedlings with little to no trouble. In the near future I will start taking clones, because that seems like the next logical step for a perpetual harvest. No sense wasting grow space, time and effort on males or weak plants. ;)
