Be gentle on the babies. Go low ppm.WATERING UPDATE
Looking in on them today I found 3 that needed water so they got a full fish watering. The rest will have it tomorrow and one the next day most likely.
The soil surface is kind of sticking to itself when dry. i take that as a sign it's time to get my ass in gear and make some dolomite water for their next waterings!
Thanks, I'll go with their first EWC then. I haven't made up a pitcher of dolo yet. They have had a full water or two. I was going to keep ppm's 50 to 60 if I went dolo water.Be gentle on the babies. Go low ppm.
If they haven't had a full watering yet, that may fix it without dolo-water.
Have you added EWC up top yet? If so, crumble that up nicely and see if the crusting comes back next watering. EWC will always crust on it's 1st drydown.
If it crusts again then an issue is starting.
I didn't mean you should use EWC, sorry, that's your call. What I meant was "have you" used it yet, because if you have it will always crust after the 1st watering, but not in a bad way. That's just all it's calcium activating. Continual crusting after the 1st one is a problem. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks, I'll go with their first EWC then. I haven't made up a pitcher of dolo yet. City folk.Gee, I think squeezing his nose would provide a more accurate reading.
I got that. I have it on hand and have no pitcher for the dolo water yet. No cornfusion . Let's watch and see it work. Since there was no issue showing(to me) I presume if my feel was right on the soil surface it isn't horribly bad and the dress of castings can only be helpful.I didn't mean you should use EWC, sorry, that's your call. If you break up the crusted EWC upon the 1st drydown, it shouldn't recrust.I expect a crusty stuck together surface on first dry but on second it should tilth up nicely.
Thanks I’ll be watching for that.If you break up the crusted EWC upon the 1st drydown, it shouldn't recrust.
Yeah baby! I can’t wait to see better! Thanks!Good luck with the surgery
