Piña's Gone Posh: 2nd Journal, 1st Tent

Cheers for giving me a laugh you two.

It's 6am and I'm on one of Amtrak's finest. Just starting what could be a 30hr journey home, so the laugh is well needed.

No idea about the dry yet, but the trips gone well thanks Shed. Bit emotional, but a non white Xmas in MI is a win for me.

Happy new year all, normal service will resume shortly :p

All aboard! Choooo choooo...chuga chuga chuga chuga. I use to love to ride the rails when I was a kid. Every year at Christmas from Grand Central in NY to Chicago on the 20th Century Limited. Wonderful memories there.

:420:It's time to close this journal. I've made back home safe and sound, and I've had chance to check on my Amnesia harvest. As far as I can tell everything looks good.

The "low and slow" is a bit too dry for my taste, but what do you expect from three weeks of unattended drying. I'm sure a few weeks curing with a Boveda pack will sort that. The important part is there's no mould and it's useable. Tastes good and will only get better with time. :D

As far as I can tell the cobs look good too. They're still quiet wet so I'm giving them a couple of hours to dry before re-sealing. They smell amazing and for once I have no doubt of what, ginger beer. Boozy ginger beer, should be interesting as long as I haven't screwed them up. They're going need a little more time before testing, but initial signs seem promising.

I'm going to leave the third portion of the harvest frozen for now. Not sure what I'll do with it as yet, tempted to go "low and slow" with it. Seems like a great fool proof way to dry a crop.

All in all very happy with results thus far. Thanks for the emergency harvest suggestions all.

Welcome back! Glad the harvest survived your absence...that low and slow works pretty well if you have to leave it unattended.
