Really eh......no soak Cult? I'm the opposite. I do the soak and then straight to soil......Flytiers method......guess it all works. I think missgreenbud isn't agitating the paper towel, she's just spraying the plates down and not opening the fibres up...if I read correctly!?

Missgb...make sure with your " fish tank" that you're able to upside if needed. Also cover the sides so the roots don't get exposed to sunlight/grow light. The roots hate that.

Yeah im just lifting the top plate off the bottom one and spraying the inside of the top plate. I'm not messing with the towel at all unless it looks alittle dry then I'll add more water depending, always keeping it moist. (It starts to dry out sometimes with the heat pad, I don't have that dialed in yet as it auto shuts off after 15 mins).

Seed had 3/4 taproot tonight so it went into a cup of local soil, pencil eraser deep with dirt moved back on top of hole but not patted down.

Guy, I was thinking about possibly using window tint on the outside of the fish tank, do you think something like that would work?

Ill be keeping my seedling in the phototron until sprout then I'll move it into the fish tank with 24/0 light.

I soak and straight to Rapid Rooters. There are many methods to germinate seeds. Just need to find one that works best for you.

Merry Christmas!! Yes so far the soaking in tapwater for 24 hours then to the wet papertowel on a heat pad has been working for me! I just got a taproot on my second seed tonight

Your phototron grow is dialed in! Good job topping, plan on any other training techniques? I cant wait to see the fish tank setup.

So far topping and lst, today has been the first day it seemed like she has been back to "super grow mode" since topping lol. Me neither, I'm still working out how I wanna do that whole setup lol, but it's cool my dad is wanting to participate alittle with this fish tank one!

No need to spray the paper towel. Just cover and place in a dark warm space and leave for 3 days. By keep spraying you are agitating the seed everytime you lift the paper towel. Im not saying that wontbwork but iys unneccessary stress for seedling. I go straight to paper towels and dont soak seeds in water and i get 99.9% success this way.

Have you considered lighting for when your girl gets bigger? I doubt your present lighting is going to be strong enough to produce heavy dense buds.

I haven't decided yet but the phototron is intended for the plant to be grown in it through all phases, from seedling to flowering. So I want to actually see if I get my plant through it all in this capsule! Lol that and it's illegal where I am so I'm not expecting a ton when I harvest! If I can talk my dad into having some on his land I will be working on something bigger though!

Checked on my baby after I got home and took a couple pics of what kinda looks like signs of preflowers? Surely 18 days is too soon though?? Thoughts guys?

I stumbled on the title for this thread and got a huge laugh. The original phototron was a thing back in the 80's-90's. I ordered one of the original units from high times. The units do work but the lights are low powered by today's standards. Good luck with your grow.

Ive seen sex determined in autos by day 20 or so so you're right on schedule......hard to believe they're so young. Yours are feminized.....arent they?

Never heard of one but miss' plants look amazing for their age......plus the space capsule looks pretty sick lol!

They sure do look great! Lol I seriously used to get high and read and reread HighTimes over and over and daydream of my future mansion all decked out with Phototrons in every room corner. It always seemed like "this is how the rich people are supposed to grow weed". Haha I was dumb.

Sorry I have been disconnected for awhile guys! Work has been hectic and haven't had alot of spare time since the holidays. I plan on replying to everyone tonight so bear with me my fellow 420people lol.

In the meantime, a quick picture update of day 20 (last night), also started miracle grow nutes.


Seedling is stretched alittle but I have to keep it in the phototron at the moment. (You can kinda see it in the pic). Seedling is on day 5 now.

I'm not sure if this seed was feminized as I got it from a bag awhile back. Same with this new seedling. Anyway for me to check the seed for indications of it being feminized? Or any other future tips on any signs to look for?

It's all good miss, I'm not the one to help you sex a plant as I have only ever bought feminized seeds but if you got your seeds from a bag of weed, I would definitely be interested to see and follow along. I know that you are looking for something particular right in the node spacing but I want to make sure that I don't give you the wrong advice.

Try posting a picture of your girl's right at the node spacing where your leaves come off the main stem, that's what we will be looking for when it's time to sex the plant.

Hey thanks for checking out my journal! That's awesome you used one of these bad boys back when they first came out and were a hit! Lol. How many grows did you have in yours? Any tips for me? So far the phototron has been doing me pretty good I'd like to say lol. Little tight on space and I could never imagine someone trying to grow 6 plants in this thing at once like it's intended to do?!

Same. I had never heard of one nor seen one until I laid my eyes on this one! Lol. I sure wish I could get my hands on some old high times magazines. . It would be cool to have a couple magazines with it being advertised in and stick in a box after I grow in it a few times and retire it for a decade or so lol.
