I wouldn't argue as my first go was i. summer and set to 600w. still had a great yeild.
After they recover from pruning it's time for the new 1000w EYE Hortilux bulb. (I am afraid the UV will be too intense while recovering)

Ok day 14 defloliation is complete.

ah shoot I keep trying to upload photos but it's telling me I don't have permission to do that so I'm not sure what's broken but I might have to use a different method upload to photos.

Okay here we go de 14 update they were given just plain water today and defoliate it the first two pictures are before from two days ago and the last two pictures are a side and a top view after defoliation.

The good thing is from the top it doesn't look like I lost any canopy which was the goal.

This is the first time I've done something so drastic to them so I hope it doesn't take too long for them to recover their lights are going out soon so hopefully they have enough stored energy to repair during the lights out.

EYE Hortilux Super HPSFTW (or anything but HydroPlanet lol).

2 things, how impressed I am with the Super HPS bulb and a new technology they have called Ceramic HPS has me thinking.

It looks very promising and has a great spectrum. At about 1/3 the cost of the LED I would consider a comparable option based on specification. I still with go with HLG as I like them as a company and the folks running things there are good people (BTW Samsung just officially teamed up with HLG as their official agricultural lighting partner!)

Using the standard Super HPS bulb from them vs the hydroplanet bulb looks to change everything in quality though so based on my run going the best yet and a killer bulb I think we are going to rock it.

I had no idea how bad my old bulb was but now it's actually white in my tent. It was so orange before that a true hps looks white to me now lol. The main observation was the girls showed light stress so I moved up all the way to the hooks. We will be pushing the limit here!!

Here is where I am most excited. Putting my inner forearm under a normal MH light gives me little pins and needle feeling as the UV rays irritate my skin. This didn't happen with my other HPS bulb in fact I could move closer until the heat was too much before feeling the pins and needles.

This new bulb not only appears much more white but is definitely visually brighter and bombarding me with the UV we need to promote resin and trichome production:) Yesssssssss!

Effects of Defoliation: The plants really didn't appear to miss a beat!

I expected that the day after they would be limp and in shock but no. Even the tops that didn't stetch all the way to the support are now standing straight instead of flopping over. Amazing when you remove all that leaf weight. Now they can harden up I hope.
They are all standing up and reaching for the light looking healthy. Pics tonight.

This is so far my best run and if it all goes to plan, may stick with this system and just automate with drip lines and lay a flood table on the floor. i like to be able to use the height.

Tonight they will be fed week 2 flower nutrients,

3ml Grow, 4ml Micro, 7ml bloom, 1ml liquid Koolbloom (this can be somewhat changed, I can use 5ml of bloom and 2ml of Liquid Koolbloom but I have a ton of bloom left but not as much Liquid Kool Bloom. Week 4 I will likely switch to the higher use of LKB.

Well I woke today to disaster 7 of the 8 girls all the same mom have hermed.
shit.
I am keeping the middle plant, kicking myself for not using that one primary, it just wasn't as fast.... every other checkbox is met so far, structure is hearty and supportive as well symetrical, takes stress like a champ, light changes do not appear to have an impact

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet I still have 7 more dark plasma beans as well as a couple of Jack Herer that I want to pop they're feminized, the jack in herer so there's that...sace some time.

It's a lot of hard work and I've been currently looking for work and without luck (damned record makes IT a tough career)... been kind of a huge blow this morning I'm not really sure what to do with it" but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

actually, so far I chopped 3 of them amd as I get closer to the number 5 in the center ive still not seen hermies so fingers crossed. That one is more spicy and shaped like a hindu.
popping the fem Jack Herer and some more Dark Plasma as well potting the only poor close of that one I have today.

I had planned to veg and get clones for the next run before this was finished flowering but now it's all messed up...play it by ear and dig through my seeds, I may have some others too that if im starting over may as well do verity its what I like. I just want those one or two badd ass knock you ass, melt your face shit :)

Sucks getting herm's. I recently popped a few ocean grown " Malibu pie " beeans that I had terrible luck with. One failed as a seedling, one was a mutant that didn't amount to much and the third was a male. I still have 7 of those seeds left, but here in Michigan your only allowed 12 plants total and I don't have time to mess around with weak seeds

You couldn't have put it better...had to get my wife a card to start this project.

of 5 beans so far I got 1 mutant, 2 males, 2 females... I sexed them but not for very long. I shouldn't have tried to tame the taller one, but I heard good things about her. sucks the best are so damn sensitive.

It really was a heartbreaker for me. I went to the cannabis cup here last fall with the sole purpose of getting some o.g. gear. I got my pack of seeds at the ocean grown both ( after doing a dab ) so they were fresh seeds straight from the breeders hand. I even bs'd with Vader for a minute. Cool guy. I really had high hopes

plus, I've never smoked Jack Herer but I just read the reports and the profile is one of a type with (potentially) exactly what I want. very low myrcene (couch lock) very high pinene(creativity, memory, euphoria).

going to try a couple of those, moving to tomato cages and staying in coco.

We live we learn and it might not be wasted. this girl here may be the gem?
