Peoples research on their own lighting

im full of questions right now lol. since my locker is only 6 feet high and i used up about 3 feet with the dwc and the hps hood and i need space between hood to plant that i dont know how much that is, but how can i stop the plant from growing to much so they dont get burnt, and thanks to everyone with all the replies :thumb:

i just got a 1000w hps cool tube hood. do you think thats going to be alright? is it going to get too hot in my locker where and how far am i going to have to hang it so it doesnt burn the plant

That might raise your temps a little, i'd keep a close eye on that for such a small grow area !

Hello "fault" The last two posts above contain what I feel is some pretty useful info. If nothing else it will give you some more information to consider and help you make a good decision. I try and remember a Question is free usually,a mistake can be paid for over a lifetime. just saying.

I think you need 300-500w of hps for a square meter depending on temps, and how much light the surfaces reflect back around.
A friend did a nice grow with a 250W on 16*36 inch. Putting even a 400W there would have probably killed the plants.

Ambient temps are a huge factor in this imo. And also air ventillation.

The air flow form intake to the exhaust is short for 1000w and the 6inch fan is about a foot from the hood. So I think it should grab all the heat I hope. And yesterday I just bought 2 6inch regular fans for air flow inside the grow room.

Run it and see how it works for u then adjust as u c fit. just sayin.

how it turn out? wanna share some photos. I use 6 inch flex ducting, zip tie at or over hard flange on hood.

i have pictures i will put them up 2mrw. ive been trying to make it super stealth. trying to hide the intake hole right now then i have to soundproof the 6inch fan. i did feel heat about 6-8 inch away from light. its not that hot though about to look for ways to cool it down.

I have the exhaust running to outside and the intake is in the same room in the garage that doesn't get too hot

Currently under only 42 watts of CFL @5000K for my clones that seem to have caught on. Moms under a skylight-filtered nuclear source of light in the sky. Grass (lawn, non-420) outside under the orange glow of HPS streetlamps is growing doubletime, lol.

Cool beans... looks good. Excellent use of locker! I like it I had a few under outdoor farm light last year and they never stopped growing. Weather took em down at around 7.5 feet. They were I swear growing by inches per day it seemed.

so im getting 93f, i need to reduce the heat badly if i install a carbon filter up top will that reduce the heat a bit? what should i do to reduce the heat?

lol answering my own question yes it will decrease the temp if i pull air out from the top. but i havent try it yet. i doubt it will drop it 20f to around 70F so i need something that can drop th temp a shit ton
