What do you find is the best way to sex Reg seeds? Run them 12/12 from beginning then flip back once fems have been found or is it worth growing them out in large scale. (If not looking for pollen that is!)
I take a clone and either sex that, or sex the mom once the clone is rooted, depending on how much of a rush I'm in.
Cheers Krip! I’m going to be doing a run of PBB shortly which are all regs and just want to find my females as quick as possible to save on space. Then I’ll veg and flower later for my keeper pheno(s)
It's a lot of stress on a plant (and, about a month of time!) to revert it back to veg from flower, so taking a clone, IMHO, is probably best.
Would you keep the clone or the original as your “mother” after finding sex?

I would flip clones early just to see sex. Then work the original mother’s. That’s just me though.

Flip the clones early so the moms are that much further thru veg. Bigger plants that way.

I agree, I think I’ll S1 most of my keepers to pheno hunt from.
I agree 420%! I'd always prefer to keep the original seedling as the mom.

And it doesn’t take long to grow out the clones as well for determining sex.

Yes, treat them right and the original mom will produce clones for years.
Clones for me are more of an afterthought. I'll take cuts in veg when doing the initial top and cleaning off nodes 1 and 2. If the plant ends up being something special, I can then mother the clone if I want. If not, nothing much really wasted from keeping a clone for a few months.
Now if I were pheno hunting, trying to create the right mom, breeding, or whatever, then I would go with the seed as mom. But for my limited use of mothers, a snip off the original "just in case" works well enough and doesn't cost veg time.

Just a matter of personal preference I think.
You guys don’t like to just let them all grow out til you see preflowers? Usually only takes 4-5 weeks.

If you’re not breeding then culling the males as early as possible is to your advantage.
How much time are you potentially saving by taking a cutting, rooting, and flowering it? How young do you take your first cutting? Are we talking, chop the main stalk almost in half at like 5 nodes?
