You're the man (I think), thank you! I have a great local source for the vegetable glycerin,, no worries there. I'll blog this, thank you!!
Medman, I use dry high quality trim and small buds and fill pint sized jars about 3/4 full. Vegetable glycerine is added and mixed in to make a sludge. Let the jars settle for a day or so after mixing and check them. When they settle there should be a 1/2" or so layer of glycerin on top with little material in it. Add more glycerine or weed as needed.
After that I leave the jars in a cool dark place for at least two months giving them a good shake a few times a week.
For decarb I put the jars into a pressure cooker/ caner. It gets up to 238 degrees. Full pressure for about 40 minutes works great.
After decarb I let the jars sit for another week or two and then strain the tincture through several layers of cheesecloth squeezing as much glycerine out of the mix as possible and put it into dropper bottles.
The tincture has a strong complex sweet flavor that most people find pleasant but I have given some to one person who said it tastes like cough medicine.
I get glycerin from an herb store - not a cannabis dispensary, a store that sells all kinds of healing herbs and whatnot. They sell it in bulk from a huge container and it is cheap. They also sell dropper bottles in many different sizes.
