Osmocote Plus Plant Food: Discuss Its Use With Cannabis Here!

tsboss, the 1st thing is to get u're environment right (rh, temp, light) & remember that u can't overfeed w/oc+.

My room gets no hotter then 75, RH is no higher then 35 in flowering, and I use a 600 watt and 1000 watt light. I measured the PPm of my water and its around 130 so I figured maybe pure water is not allowing the plants to reach its full potential...I water every third day in flowering and every 2 days in veg..Growth is green and rarely do I have any def. besides maybe calcium and I add call mag. I don't know what Im doing wrong

are u putting the oc+ in the water or the pot? it should go in the pot, near the top or just put it on top & water it in. that "130ppm" threw me.

I put the oc+ in the pot...3 parts, in a 3 gallon bucket.Medium is straight perlite. I only use water out the sink to water my plants, no added nutes and I was saying the ppm of my water is around 130 ppm..

most journals I read says the PPM should increase every week or so up to like 1400 ppm...but then there is some guys using straight tap and can pull off 2-3ozs.

ok, u're getting info from too many sources & u're getting confused. let's start over. hempy bucket is a solid bucket (no holes). go up the SIDE a couple inches & put a hole (1/4 to 3/8"). fill w/2 gals perlite, then 1gal top soil, pro-mix, light warrior or anything w/out nutes in it. that's where the baby plant goes. then sprinkle on the oc+ & water in till water runs out the hole on the side. the oc+ prills will disappear almost immediately. pick up the pot to get an idea of what it should weigh & water when it starts to get light. if u didn't put something in the top of the pot, the prills prolly went to the bottom and got diluted by all that water u're giving it. those prills release on heat not time or amount of water. don't worry about ppm's. that is for people who are feeding w/water. u don't have to worry about that. just let u're water sit in an open container for 24hrs to let the chlorine to dissipate. the more heat u have, the more the plants stress & therefore, need more food. that's why oc+ works so well at not overfeeding. you'll need to water often when the plant is young until the main taproot hits the well at the bottom of the pot. hope this helps. let me know.

sorry im not confused, maybe im explaining the situation wrong but I know exactly what a hempy bucket is. I have my hole on the side. I dont use any soil or anything but perlite with 1 part Oc+ per gallon in a 3 gallon bucket. Check out this journal Hempy - OC+ - CFLs & 3 Good Seeds

This is what Ive followed. He uses straight perlite and epson salt with cfls and still pulled some heavy weight. My room isnt hot at all, and they aren't stressed to say the least. I figured my yields were poor because of the lack of nutes but I dont know what else it could be.

don't know what else it could be. u're dialed in on u're room, at least for flower. u could raise the rh & temp during veg. oc+ only lasts about 3 mo. doesn't make sense. how much yield r u getting on the whole crop? i believe u said u were using 1k watts?

I think 1 part OC+/gal (I am assuming you mean 1 tablespoon) might not be enough for a hempy.

I would either add a little more when mixing it in, or use what you normally do, but top dress with another tbsp or two a week or two into flowering.

But if your plants seem healthy green and not lacking anything, it could just be the strain.

google osmocote15912 it is a pdf from Scotts about the application guide

Well I also looked at docbuds grow and he used nutes with his hempy with oc+ and his ppm's were higher then mines. Im using straight tap water at ppm of 125ish so I figured I needed to add some nutes to my water so the plants would uptake more of the nutrients. Do any of you guys reuse the runoff water for your other plants?

Been using OC for 3yrs and hempy's for 2.
The ppm of your tap water maters little, unless it's really hi (450 like mine)
When non-CRF folks talk about feeding ppm they are talking and the change in ppm that is caused by adding nutes to the water prior to feeding.

One tbsp per gal of medium is low especially if you are including veg and flower in a one time set-up. I use 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp/gal and I build my final bucket right before going 12/12.

Also we need to know how long you veg. Longer veg will build bigger girls.
Soil is not necessary to run a hempy, you can use perlite, coco, mapito, I've even seen cushion foam being used.
I use size 3to4 perlite and it's really chunky & have no problem with it falling through to the rez.
I've done sample of ph and ec with feed water and then the same with the runoff, only through coco but will do some perlite tests next run. Here's an average sample.

In ph 6.8 ec .64
Out ph 5.5 ec 1.78

Coco seems to manage ph quite well, and I need to see how perlite works.

Hope this helps

This is a Kannabia - Original Berry, 5 weeks old (4 weeks GLR 1 week 12/12), under 600w since day 2.

600w MHconversion bulb burnt out after the first week, so she has been under 600w HPS since.

Tight node spacing. Side branches are almost caught up to the top.

soil is a mixture of what ever was left on the shelf from other grows, and of course some OC+

she would probably fill the room by her self given the opportunity.

I know this is from last sept., but i gotta say, fucking beautiful man, just beautiful!

Here's the link to what used to be the hempy thread: https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/guide-hempy-just-put-hole-bucket.121141/post-1080462... It was called A Guide to Hempy: Just Put a Hole in a Bucket. I remember laughing every time Doc would say "You didn't follow the instructions!".

:Namaste:

this is the page i was lookingfor and i "dont have permission to view this page"...am i too noob to visit the page or is this what everyone is talking about when they say the thread just "dissappeared?"
