Your so right. They didn't play hard just to play hard, and Jello always has a message for the kiddies. Heres one my top 3 DK songsI wasn't a huge punk fan but I did like the DK's. Clever and funny. I have no memory of who else was on that bill even after I read it on the flyer.
BOB SEGER! WOOOO HOOOOOO!Punk never really got too popular in the Midwest. Even in the big cities like Cincinnati and Detroit I don't remember seeing them touring much
Man you were right. I just looked up punk bands in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit. Other than the Violent Femmes I didn't see a single band I recognized. Thats wild, I guess I never reallt thought about itPunk never really got too popular in the Midwest. Even in the big cities like Cincinnati and Detroit I don't remember seeing them touring much
Haha!Yeah man, he was running against the wind!
Its funny, we took it all for granted. An hour away from LA. Half hour to OC, and then the Devore amphitheater (The US Festival) thats only 20 minutes away. We had so many options.Yeah we would be lucky to see something come to the Twin Cities and that was still over 2 hours away for me growing up. I will say I have seen probably 100 shows of various artists at First Ave, loved that place. That generally drew some names you wouldn't expect, otherwise Chicago was the next closest at like 10 hours away.
My brother LOVED the Monkees, but to actually see Jimi Hendrix damn. Good one! That must have been a blast! I think my first concert was The Monkeys at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium (where they played the Forest Hills Open in the old days). Jimi Hendrix opened for them...for real!
He quit the tour the day after I saw him:
"Jimi Hendrix managed to get through a total of only seven dates with the Monkees, culminating in his final show on July 17, 1967, which may or may not have ended with Hendrix saluting the crowd with his middle finger."
I remember he flipped us the bird.
Test it out on some Play-Doh!
I think old guys with dyed jet black hair look older than old guys with grey hair. This bug anyone else or is it particular to me?
I hear ya yogiwhen your bald both look pretty good
I would of loved to see Gwar not close I want to get any goo on me!Did a lot of metal shows growing up, but the best performance I've ever seen was Gwar.
Damn! I saw Elton John with Billy Joel in their duelling pianos series. That was fun. But I was super hammered. I had to take a leak like crazy so my wife got off the freeway, shes driving my nice shiny suburban and we ended up in the projects. You know, where all the windows have heavy metal screen. I hopped out got it done and we took off. It was kinda hairy thoughI also saw John Lennon's last performance when he came on stage (at Madison Square Garden) to sing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" with Elton John at his show there. 1974, just checked.
We were at the Garden a lot!
My first concert Rush in a 4000 seat stadium with my girlfriend friend I was probably 14 maybe 15. I brought two hits of purple mini mic for us she didn't want it. So I took both it was a awsome experience. Thatb girl friend didn't last long.
