papatater how are you Buddy? My Lucy girls have pretty much looked the same, with no great differences, but I'm sure there are variations. Yes I top almost all of my girls, some more than once. It depends on how each on looks after a week, if I top again or not.
I hope your girls do well when they start budding. :cheertwo: :thumb:

Take care! ;)

I am here brother. I haven't had a chance to go back through your journals yet to catch up. I have a quesation though. What nutrients are you using? The reason I ask, is that we just switched to a vegan line from General Hydro. It is their General Organics line. I cannot say enough good for this line. No ph balancing. No nutrient burn. The plants are looking healthy as ever, with less effort and cost. We paid about $160.00 for the full line, and it is worth every penny. We also switched to a pair 6 bulb T5 units that have really rocked our veg room. Anyway, just popped in to say HI, or HIGH, and I will make time to catch up on your grow. Glad to see you are still here and "growing".

Hey OMM, things are looking great.
been working for a while Comprising a grouping of study's on growing this wonderful plant
check it out all of the references are all listed
Determining Medicinal Potency

Hey Buddy! :)

Hey ALL!:high-five:
Click on the link and look at the wonderful work shaggie has done. It's a good helpful read worth your while. WTG shaggie :thumb:

27 pages later and now I am officially subbed. Things are looking good thus far OOM! I'll be lurking.

:peace:

Hey Marley :cheertwo:

Glad your here my friend....we are just getting started...the girls are in the dark right now and I will flip the switch in the morning. Glad you joined us. :)

even with sun access, I chose 6500k light for vegging......always bushier plants, always minimum stretch. I liked to take them out when they were watered and fed....but veggies stayed under 6500k 24/7 for 4 or 6 weeks...around week 5 or six they'd get 6 hr naps.....but I'll still take the cfl's every time for vegging

Hi Chopper. :)

I sure have to agree with you. Even when I was outside, all my veg girls were inside under CFL's and the next group will be too. Love CFLs for veg.
Hope you and the family are fine. :Namaste:

Oops, ummm.... about the hockey game, sorry man - should have thought about time differences and when you might watch it. Damnit. My bad! I'm assuming you watched it/fast forwarded it by now, but if you didn't Vancouver might have won, or Boston -- who knows? Psyche? DOH!

You'll be dazzling us indoors soon like you did outside. Along the way it'll be a fun ride. :)

No problem xlr8. :thumb:

You saved me some angst. My teams were eliminated long ago. Jo just told me there are having riots in Vancouver. Sore losers I guess. Don't know when a Canadian team will win the cup again.

Hope your right on the dazzling part, that would be fun for all! :high-five:

You have to tell us how the house is doing now and how things are going.
I pretty much stay with OC+ for nutes. I have many full lines of nutes too, just found OC+ much easier to use. Those T5s sound gre :)at...if I only had room. Looking foreword to caching up with you. :high-five:

This is for all the cruisers and lookers, members of 420 and non-members. :thumb:

I want to talk about why we put our girls in the dark before we put them in flower.

First of all, they have genetic programing in their DNA, just like we do.

When we put them in the dark, it wakes up those genetic time locks. By the end of the first 12 hours they are realizing something up, there is no sun.
The darkness wakes them up to the fact that the days are getting longer and that means winter is coming. With winter comes death.
At that point the plant's genetic make up sends a message to start flowering and to put out seeds so the species will survive. We have set the stage for them to have a growth spurt called the stretch. After the stretch, they then start growing buds, the bigger and stickier they are better. It's all about hopefully grabbing some male pollen with their big buds and producing seeds to continue the species. It's this drive for life, that we the growers love.
We do all we can to protect our girls from this pollen, so we can reap the really big buds for our own. :thumb:

Comments and additions welcome. :)

Hi OMM,

ok, I get the genentics thing. The shorter days means winter and all...that's why we go from 24/0 or 18/6 to 12/12 to trigger the flowering cycle. We're trying to copy nature.

Astonr420 is right now leaving his girls in the dark 0/24 for three days or more just before harvesting. How does this figure into the life cycle? Nature doesn't do 0/24. But there are lots of theories on this...he's looked into it.

Well, there are some theories about putting them in darkness right before harvest. The idea I heard is water them one last time time and put them in darkness. Supposedly as the girls dry out they send everything they have to the top of the plant to save it as long as possible. I have tried it twice....the only thing I noticed was they were easier to trim.

I remember one fellow killing two of his plants that way....a little too dry!

Maybe some others will chip in they're ideas on the subject. :thumb:

we put them in to darkness before harvest... its called the "swell".... as OMM said you water one last time and put them in to 24-36 hrs of darkness what it does is sends the plant in to "emergency mode" and will start pumping all its sugars in to the chemical reaction with CBD to create THC... it you look at a tricrome before and after there is a noticeable difference as the head of the tricrome swells....
at my work, as soon as we put them in to swell we pull All fan leaves and any large Sugar leaves (keeping sugar leaves separate for bubble hash the fresher the better)
this takes all the extra "storage facility" from the plant making them concentrate on pulling the sugars from the remaining leaves (this helps i think with the swelling process but it really just makes it easier to trim 300 +plants)

also we bring the time on lights to 10/14 shortening the day just a little for the last 2 weeks during flush (just like fall there is les than 12 hrs of light.... again this puts the plant in to "emergency mode")

OMM glad you enjoyed the post on Medical Potency... i figured u would appreciate it
keep up the great work brother
stop by and see what i have going on if u have time!
Peace
