Old Noob

Great list, HashGirl. I'm right there with you on many of the bands you mention--Linkin, Audioslave, Arcade Fire, Killers, Cage the Elephant. I like Green Day, but not at the top of my list. Not that familiar with Rise Against, but will check them out. I've also been mixing in some alt-country--Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, etc.

Sounds like you are a live music fan. What are your all-time best live shows? My top shows include Mavis Staples (at a small jazz club, where I was right next to the stage), BB King about 5 years before he passed, North Mississippi All-Stars, Billy Bragg playing with Tom Morello and a Guns and Roses/Metallica stadium double bill.

Take care.

Anyhow, you get the idea. :laughtwo: I love listening to music.
And in person too, I see!

I love going to live shows too! I haven't had the opportunity lately. I'm in a high-risk Covid group so I stay away from crowds. I sure do miss it.

The last 3 concerts I attended before Corona were all the same artist, Lianne La Havas. Absolutely love her!

GDB, i'm in the same boat with crowds--my wife is in a high risk group, so it has been more then 3 years since I've been to a live show.

I'm not familiar with Lianne la Havas, but will check her out on Spotify/YouTube. Take care
Well I'll take this opportunity to point you to a nice one (IMO).

I tend to mix stuff like Blackmore's Knight or Enya with the rock mentioned above along with some folk music by Stan Rogers, Joni Mitchell, Nathan Rogers, etc.

My best concerts include:
  • Ian Thomas in 1974. It was my first "rock" concert and my mum's uncle from Scotland took me. He spoiled me by buying me all the swag.
  • The Who in Toronto in 1982
  • George Thorogood & the Destroyers - April 30, 1990 - Massey Hall in Toronto
  • Green Day - July 2009 (It was my nephew's first "rock" concert and I bought him all the swag. He was 12.)
  • Barenaked Ladies (The week of the Plastimet fire. The band said they just followed the smoke to the show.)
  • Metric at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto
Still on my bucket list:
  • Cage the Elephant
  • Rise Against
  • The Interrupters

I'm high risk, too. We have a concert to go to on Saturday but I'll be wearing a mask even if no one else does. And, I have had 4 shots so I'd like to think they help somewhat.

Our next concert is June 25 with the Arkells.

I checked out your Latino singer. She has a nice voice but it's not rockin' enough for my taste. Felonious (my husband), on the other hand, would probably like it as he loves that kind already.

I'm afraid I don't care for Tom Morello at least not in Rage Against the Machine who I also don't care for. The only "metal" I like is 90s Guns 'n Roses.

For heavier rock, I like Rise Against (We were supposed to see them in April but I had to cancel due to my knee.), Linkin Park (with Chester Bennington), Audioslave, and Pearl Jam (scheduled to see on Sept. 6). My favourite band is Green Day and I'm disappointed they've cancelled the Canadian portion of the tour.

For classic rock, I like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Santana, Deep Purple, Supertramp and The Doors.

But, most of the music I listen to these days was written in the 90s up to now. Favourites include The Tragically Hip (seen in concert), Arcade Fire (seen in concert), Metric (seen in concert), Nothing But Thieves (was supposed to see in March but the show was cancelled), The New Pornographers (cancelled), Arkells (seen in concert), The Black Keys (seen in concert), Cage the Elephant (want to see in concert), The Interrupters (cancelled), Fall Out Boy (cancelled), The Killers (scheduled to see on Sept. 23), Lee Harvey Osmond, etc.

Hashgirl Rocks.

I've seen The Who 3x. :battingeyelashes:

Your list of bands sound like all the bands I don't like. I definitely don't like Anthrax. I've never heard of the others but given their names, I doubt I would like them either.

I'm the cool old person at physio who likes Machine Gun Kelly. People who work there keep coming up to me and asking if I'm the Machine Gun Kelly fan? :laughtwo:
