Hello, everyone. I'm a noob grower, but long time consumer--as in 52 years of regular consumption! Retirement is allowing me to finally try growing my own. I'm growing indoors and have 12 Durban Poison babies that are almost 3 weeks old. Seeds are not feminized, so I'll be dealing with the "sexing your plants" challenge soon. I've made my life more difficult by having 4 plants in FFOF, with a Cali SuperSoil base layer. The other 8 are in Vermont Organics soil, also with a Cali SuperSoil base layer. Looking forward to learning from the veterans in these forums!

:welcome: to 420 Magazine! Let me know if you need help finding anything. 420 Magazine can be confusing for newcomers.

Welcome to the party, @Drumshabo!

Enjoy your new retirement hobby! I didn't start until after I retired and it's been a godsend, because I needed something to do.

Why do you think you made things more difficult with the supersoil base and FFOF?

Hi, GDB. Thanks for the message.
The complexity I brought on myself was mixing a soil grow (FFOF, supersoil) and a soiless grow (Vermont Organics, which I now realize is predominately coco coir.) I've ended up with two watering schedules, two ph targets, etc. It was my inexperience--not realizing what the Vermont Organics ingredients list really meant! Rookie mistake that I will NOT repeat!

By the way, anyone who uses Marvin for their avatar is "top of the charts" for me! I prefer Mavis, but always include Marvin in my playlists.

Take care, Drumshabo

I was disappointed to see that GDB doesn't look like his avatar at all. :laughtwo: GDB looks more Sammy Davis Jr. to me than Marvin Gaye. :cheesygrinsmiley:

FROM ONE OLD NOOB TO ANOTHER WELCOME :thumb: couldn't find a better place to make friends and talk about the good old days. there is so much knowledge on this website it makes your hair burn (good excuse for balding hippies)
I have learned so much since I joined 4-5 months ago Im on my 4th grow and thanks to 420 Mag Im not the same dumb noob I was when I started. I'm no longer a noob Im just dumb now. seriously though I made some mistakes but I also had a good harvest. so if you want to learn to grow good pot .you have found the spot. If I can help in any way my inbox is always open WELCOME TO THE BEST WEED WEBSITE EVER!

Thanks, Savvage61. I've definitely got that balding hippie thing going...although I responded to early hair loss by starting a beard at age 18 that is still going 46 years later!

You're right about this website--lot's of great info and fun people. I'm only a month into my first grow and have picked up sooo much info here. I've already added quite a few mistakes to my "tequila list" ("I'll never do that again...until the next time!) Take care.

Hi, HashGirl. I looked at your music list on your Stoner's Random Thoughts blog and realized I hadn't thought about "Knights in White Satin" for a very long time. My tastes have broadened since the 70's--i'm listening to a lot of Prophets of Rage right now, essentially anything with Tom Morello. (My family already knows that Willie's "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Go" has to be played at my funeral and any tombstone has to say "Time for one more hit.")

What are you listening to these days? Take care.

I've got you by a few years, @Drumshabo, and since I been growing a bit longer than you, I know my "tequila list" is longer than yours. :)

But, yeah, if you hang around here and pay attention you can't help but to gain knowledge and improve!

I'm afraid I don't care for Tom Morello at least not in Rage Against the Machine who I also don't care for. The only "metal" I like is 90s Guns 'n Roses.

For heavier rock, I like Rise Against (We were supposed to see them in April but I had to cancel due to my knee.), Linkin Park (with Chester Bennington), Audioslave, and Pearl Jam (scheduled to see on Sept. 6). My favourite band is Green Day and I'm disappointed they've cancelled the Canadian portion of the tour.

For classic rock, I like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Santana, Deep Purple, Supertramp and The Doors.

But, most of the music I listen to these days was written in the 90s up to now. Favourites include The Tragically Hip (seen in concert), Arcade Fire (seen in concert), Metric (seen in concert), Nothing But Thieves (was supposed to see in March but the show was cancelled), The New Pornographers (cancelled), Arkells (seen in concert), The Black Keys (seen in concert), Cage the Elephant (want to see in concert), The Interrupters (cancelled), Fall Out Boy (cancelled), The Killers (scheduled to see on Sept. 23), Lee Harvey Osmond, etc.

Anyhow, you get the idea. :laughtwo: I love listening to music.
