I made a skin balm last year from the stems, roots, and leftover mash from a previous infusion. No fresh buds were included but had I known then what I know now, I would have included the fans. Because the stems and roots have a lot of volume, I left this in a crockpot around 200ºF for something close to 12 hours. I'm pretty sure I used pumpkin seed and grapeseed oil for the infusion, and then beeswax to turn it from oil to salve. I didn't use any essential oils because I didn't need to mask the smell, though some find certain oils soothing or good for the skin generally.

You may want more or less wax, so start low and add more once you get an idea of the consistency. I add enough to use it in one of those "Empty Deodorant Containers Round (2.2oz, Pack of 6) - BPA Free Clear Plastic" from Amazon without it being smeary or runny. It's pretty thick.
This is the stuff I use for hives, bug bites, and abrasions, and I find it works better than the high THC pain oil. Probably good for all sorts of skin ailments!
