Oil update! Tutorial for ol dad!
So I sent my dad some of newty's special gingy trees .and this was his first time tasting my stuff, he makes his own butter and has for years. He taught me the basics and I have been researching and learning new ways to make it better and more potent. So I was excited to hear his review . He says, ok you got to tell me how you do yours... lol enough said. So I told him I'd get a video/picture slide for him to follow like he sends me. headless in the vids of course ..
I thought I'll put the picture tutorial here in case anyone wants to learn.
This particular herb is 25g of Sugar Shack/25g critical kushmass and 30g of frozen/fresh trim from Wanda and Pearl as well as the 7 clones I culled.
The LP herb came pre-milled and then I laid the trim over top for a 40 minute decarb at 230. This process dries out the trim
After I pull the covered herb from the oven I let it cool covered so the vapours settle back in to the herb. While that is cooling I measure out 3.5 cups of coconut oil from Costco and 3 teaspoons of sunflower lethicin. I wait until I get a steady temp of 170-190 then I add the decarbed herb and stir it all together. I had tried adding the lethicin after but I prefer the effects when it's all cooked together.
now I watch this and set the timer for 2 hours. I set a second timer to remind me to check it and stir every 25 mins, keeping it around 170-190 the whole time. I've experimented with longer cooking times but I never really notice it change potency at all for me.
Once the 2 hours is over I set up my mesh strainer with a cheese cloth resting inside, I pour it all through and take the remaining puck and squeeze it through the potato ricer to get as much oil as possible. I then take the squished puck and give it a hot water bath
I take the water and oil and complete the straining process one more time. I then let the water and oil separate in the fridge. I usually get an extra 1/3 to 1/2 cup of oil this way. Now feel free to eat alone, dose in warm liquids or bake with it.
