New Moon Over Guawi: A High Brix Journey

Very true, I bet you do as well. I can’t see how collecting all this information can be a bad thing, can only help when/if you run into problems.
I wouldn’t say you’re crazy at all, a bit over the top but hey that’s your style and I love it, to each their own. And to be honest, I think we will all be thanking you quite profusely as time goes on. This will come in very handy!

Thanks, appreciate the Kind words.

Nope, NOT crazy OR wasting time! It's just that some of us are not dedicated or smart enough (read as me) to be as detailed as you. Your journal is one of my favorites so don't change one bit brother! :cheer:

Thanks Brother

I really do appreciate the complement. Hope I can Find something we can all use to help
grow an EVEN better LIVING SOIL ;)

Dont change a thing Gazoo. Its your journal to do as you wish.:goodjob:

Thanks, i intend to continue. I hope to attract more like minded people who can appreciate
the advantage of collecting the data

Does it matter which area of the plant you pull the leaf from to check brix? If anyone can create a SOP for this it's you!

I have read the leaf needs to be a newer fully developed, NOT old from the bottom.
Also its a good idea to take readings from the same area of the plant each time for better consistency

Just found Icemud thread looks like last input was 2016 maybe I can add to it
"High Brix Refractometer Results Log & Data Thread - Post Your Brix Levels Here
link to thread

EDIT: OK just watched that first video in Icemuds thread and see I need to change
a few things.
First I should wait 2 hrs after lights on to take readings
Second I need to mash up the leaf and not just squeeze out the sap from the stem

EDIT:EDIT: Cool from reading the above thread it seems I will get a higher reading
(more accurate) by crushing up the whole leaf and stem. May do both from here on out,
take stem sap and then leaf sap. Will still do a 3 leaf average to hopefully get a better
result that takes into consideration different areas of the plant

Gazoo, may I ask what kind of refractometer your using? I'm in need...

Sure, we will have to wait until 8pm when I can go into the grow room and check the Manufacture model/name
It is a BRIX reader/meter, apparently there are other types ? Its been some years since purchase but it was off the
Evil Bay and was not very expensive as i remember.

I'll post more info later tonight once I have it in hand :)

You have your rules and you stick to them, that's what I like about you gazoo. I give in and will open the tent whenever lol .

Oh I have been known to go in to adjust the Humidity:) but try not to unless its something that
needs to be addressed fast. Although I do turn the far reds back on for 15 when I have Do ;)

BTW I will be taking some update photos late tonight so should have a picture update early morning :green_heart:

Same here hommes. Not that I recommend, but I still do it.

We do what we have to do AND believe my OCD is in charge of most of the process  so its not unheard of :)

I really don't open the tent that much, only wanted to commend gazoo on his discipline. Honestly growing with the kit I try to stay out of the tent! Just because I let it do it's own thing and don't fuss about it lol, sometimes I forget my feed rates between dunks. The kit is awesome :passitleft:

To each their own. I prefer to err on the side of caution. Gazoo, couldn't the OCD work in the other way and not wanting light to enter the tent when it should not? Maybe it works that way for others...?

:passitleft:

I guess it could but its the constant Feeling/Reminder that something is not correct which
causes the NEED (not a choice) to FIX it, once the deed is done I can let it go ;)

:passitleft:

Thanks Friend ;)

For sure growing with the Kit does not require ANY of the constant checking and monitoring that I
Need to do. I know it sounds like a lot of work and stress to most everyone else but its actually an
outlet for my OCD, letting it go in my grow room gives me a release

Plus I ENJOY getting things dialed in to the point It looks easy and thats were my OCD is an advantage :)

EDIT; I should add I know I am NOT making it look easy on these boards ;) But thats because
I have shared ALL the info most people in my life dont get to see

Gazoo, may I ask what kind of refractometer your using? I'm in need...
