New Guy With Indoor - Outdoor Dreams

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

I have the lights a good 5-7 inches away atm and only 4 bulbs on total instead of all 8. While they get over the transplant shock I am just taking it easy on them. All I watered with was 95% water and 5% b1 complex and most likely thats all i will give them for the next 2 weeks since the azomite removed the real need for superthrive and the soil is uber rich in nutes currently so no need for Jimmys special tea mix for a good week or two.

And my little baby peppers look like sprouting weedlings lol.

Oh and on another note the PO4 (the plants on far left and far right in the front) I found out its parents are Larry OG and Bubba Kush today.

On another note the girl at the hydro shop is so hot...

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Oh and that plant in the front middle left. The one thats got a ton of stalks growing out of it. Thats the one and only plant I topped, I did it once and TBH i think I did it wrong because two new ones did not come out where I snipped the top. However it does look like my lil experiment is going to make it quite a wide lil plant and its not significantly shorter then the other sativas in the front row.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

So I just FIM the tallest plant. I hope I did it right as its kinda hard to tell on these plants which is the main stem and which is just a secondary branch at the top...

Thats Angel heart #1 about 2 months back. the FIM i did. It took well, but usually it takes quite a bit longer than if you Topped it. Yours should take fine but just be patient. You should see 3-6 new growths in the next week or so :Namaste: best of luck brotha

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Lol well I got a lil impatient and i snipped it a tad lower. Like 1-2 millimeters more. There was still a good 2 millimeters of cut growth on top so I think its right. We shall see.

I also saw a white fly O.O so I freaked and went to store got some sticky traps and also grabbed a cheap thermometer. My grow room now has state of the art pest control and climate control.

I don't know...I don't see anything there for humidity!

I use the little little Acurite remote digital weather stations that I picked up at Lowes for $20 so I can monitor from anywhere in the house. The model I have also keeps track of the high and low temps for the last 24 hours, which is nice in case something weird happens when I'm not looking at it...I have some pics in the first few posts in my journal if you want to see it.

I think things look pretty good! :thumb: They're certainly growing like weeds! :grinjoint: Just be very careful with that 9-12-12 fertilizer...I know you said it was heavily diluted, but with what's in your soil mix, I don't think I'd mess with it at all. The beneficials in the soil, especially mycorrhizae, are very sensitive to phosphorous...

Any plans to incorporate compost teas into your routine? Otherwise bro, keep doing what you're doing! :high-five:

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Oh i stopped using the 9-12-12 a few weeks ago once i got my more quality 5-3-3 dry mix (which every pot contains 4 handfulls of) which is where the humus, bone blood feather meals, worm castings and some other junk came from. Then about every other watering I add some of the 5-1-1 alaskan fish fert (great stuff, but its smelly) plus I am about to occasionally incorporate some molasses.

B1 complex i add basically every watering.

For flowering time I am still not sure what I will use. Possibly make some jamaican bat guano tea which is 1-8-1 with some molasses which i heard is usually something like 1-1-5

Or I might get some already made nutes for flowering. The local hydro store has bat guano for cheap (which surprised me because everything else is expensive lol) I can get a 2.2 pound bag for 9 bucks. Might use the 1-8-1 bat guano with some 0-0-3 silica they have plus toss in a bit of molasses.

Iono still playing around with ideas for flowering. but as for vegging I think the supplies I got now are working well. I am hoping these babies will be nice and bushy by their 1 month bdays and about 2 feet tall. All besides those short XXX buggers probably will hit that mark.

I just finally kicked it into overdrive with the lights. and went from 4 bulbs to cranken it out on all 8 bulbs 24/7. I bet the crazy growth will happen soon.

That's cool, just be careful with the guano too...I just recently took the plunge into organics, so I'm still learning...but everything revolves around soil biology with full organics, and even more so with high Brix. From what I've been learning, high P guanos can decimate the micro organisms we are trying to grow. I take the approach of mineralizing the soil, and then just use a microbial tea to constantly provide reinforcements to the microherd, which will in turn break down rock phosphate, and other minerals in the soil, and make them available to the plant.

I veg my moms under a T5 HO and they love it, only problem is the light from fluoros falls off fast, so you can't let them get too big...but you said they are going to finish outdoors, so you should be cool. :thumb:

I might have missed it... Did you say when you're kicking them out of the house? :)

:Namaste:

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Well I kinda wanted to get them to about 4 feet tall with the pots maybe even 5 feet with the pot.

Basically if I am going through all this I aint doing it to get a measly half oz a plant lol. I want some kind smoke and lots of it :). After all there is only 8 of them on this first trial run.

The setup I bought so far I kinda got to keep my options open. I figured I could just keep vegging plants in my little 4 by 4 tent then tossing them outside in early spring and also one in late summer, possibly even once in winter. But then it also keeps my options open for if I wanted to get another say 4 by 8 or 5 by 12ish tent with some HPS. Then start a aeroponics or hydro setup using some sort of SOG style.

I have a great backyard garden. And its a great spot to have a few plants and I doubt my neighbors would ever even notice. However I of course cant be growing rows and rows of weed in the backyard. That kinda shit does get noticed. But a plant here and plant there, even if fairly big can blend in nicely with the rest of my veggies fruit trees and other foliage.

In the end I think I will start to implement both styles. Growing some nice organic soil outdoors probably twice a year. Then making a SOG or semi larger then normal SOG indoor hydro or aero setup. Even mixing just eight 5 gallon pots with theiir new soil took quite awhile. Plus its messy, which is fine for outdoors. But if I was going to make 20 or more plants indoors, well hydro or aero seems like a much more ease of use method. Plus good aero seems to make some killer plants and I know I could make a system like that at home depot or lowes for just a few hundred for both my veg and flower rooms.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

I am hoping to see the plant I FIM begin to grow. However it was probably still in a bit of transplant shock so it could take it a day or two to begin moving again.

Also I let the lights get closer to the plants even with all 8 bulbs cranken now. I mean with the fan blowing i can honestly put my hand where it almost touches the bulbs and it does not feel anything more then a tad warm. So I am going to check to see if I can keep them in a range of 4-2 inches from the bulbs as my sweet spot.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Vape has surely given you some good advice! I think they are doing well. You have a decent envrio for them and you obviously care about them. :thumb:
Make sure to take a deep breath now and again, remember they are weeds and want to grow. Keep reading and I believe you are on the right track.
If you have any questions just post them here or in one of our journals.

I like the ladder plants, funny...

:peace:

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Well I seem to be getting crazy lateral growth, not so much vertical. I guess thats good though.

I still dont see anything happening where I FIM the plant. The nodes on each side are growing normally. But the part I acutally FIM does not seem to be growing or nothing and is turning a tad yellow n dry.

I think instead of Fuck I Missed, for me its Fuck I Messseditup

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

So it seems the Helix does not need as much nutes as the others. probably because it has much smaller leaves in comparison. Most of the growth that started about 1 week ago was a bit too green on most of the plants. On the Helix starting yesterday I noticed a couple of those super green leaves start to show the crinkled tips from nute burn.

However out of all the 4 strains the Helix is now looking like it could be the best yield and given its lineage I bet the buds will be quite potent and tastey too.

Both Helix have multiple stalks growing now. Plus the one which I tried to top in the first week or two has like 7 main cola stalks growing now and they are fast approaching a level height to go along with the original stalk. Maybe me topping it was not a failure after all?

Here is in order:

A closeup pic of the FIM from the other day.
A pic of the Helix plant I topped 2 weeks ago. It might not be the densest plant but I bet this ends up becomming a multi stalked monster like those plants in the George Cervantes vids :D.
Then for those who give a fuck about my veggie and fruit gardening a pic of my fajita pepper seedings.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

So the bottom leaves on the Chem D kinda yellowed so i pulled them off. Looked like Nitrogen deficiency. Which is kinda lame because for the first time I feed them straight water and b1 instead of my usual tea which ive always done.

I went with water last week because the plants where freshly transplanted and the soil was fairly nute heavy with meals and such. Also because the Helix was showing signs of slight nute burn on top leaves.

So my conclusion Chem D loves nutes and can not get enough (ive never burned it in the slightest) While Helix likes it semi mild. The XXX likes nutes a bit heavy and the po4 is kinda in the middle or likes it light.

So I fed the plants the other day with heavier solution for the chem D and the XXX then a more light PPM for the Helix and the po4

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Ok today is my plants 1 month B days. Overall I am pretty happy with their growth in a month. I had to transplant them 3 freaking times in a month... They kept out growing their pots. I got some damn baby huey ass plants.

So I have a few pics for ya fellas (does anyone even look at my journal lol...) or if nothing else I got some pics to help me document my first grow.

First pic is of all the plants
2nd is a close up of that FIM i did 5 days ago on the tallest PO4
then I got a pic of one of the XXX (the super short plants)
and a pic of a Helix.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

Nah these will be vegging at least 1 more month. But probably closer to 2 months before going outside.

Re: New guy with indoor/outdoor dreams

The thing I am finding the strangest is the two plants that were by far the smallest plants in the begining were the Chem D. They where like 3 or 4 inches tall for the first 2 weeks and the others towered over them hard.

I guess the Chem Ds got sicking of being bullied and picked on by the bigger taller plants and begin to hit the gym. Now at the 1 month mark they have gone from being the smallest plants to being the biggest. As they have now surpassed in height even the Helix which is mostly sativa.

I got a feeling the growth is partly due to the massive leaves these plants have. The biggest ones are 5 or 6 inches across. Plus its hungrier then the other plants as I have never been able to nute burn the Chem D. All other plants I have slightly burned at a point but never the Chem D. Infact I had to pull a few leaves off the bottom the other day because they yellowed from Nitro deficiency lol!
