New Grower & It's A Guess Grow!

Once you get the lights set up and check heat go from there. Maybe just an area fan is needed?? But you want to dry/cure some first? Great!!! I hang for 7 days then cut/trim up and put in a big paper bag for a week, shaking the bag daily. Then glass jars. Turns out great!!

Good morning Dutchess. I don't recall reading about the paper bag for a week then shaking it. What does that do for curing?

Im not too sure. The paper bag is left open with about a 6" layer of bud in the bottom. Shaking it stirs it around. the bag has darkness and lets air in too. It cures killer!! Ive had 3 different people say its been cured perfect the last 3 years.
I figured I would standardize my curing process and thats what I came up with. I am afraid of MOLD so I make sure its completely dry before jarred. I cannot believe what jarring does!!!!! Makes it SO much better. Even 2 yrs. later the bud is way better then first jarred

I bought the Boveda 62% and will put one in each jar. It raises or lowers the humidity in the jars depending on what's needed. Not costly either.

I'll have to try your bag trick. I'm guessing the Trich's are sticky enough they won't fall off.

The humidity in my tent is OFF THE CHARTS!! I don't even have the lights in, but I put a meter in there. It's 60, while my veg and my flower room humidity is at 40-45....it's been raining like crazy so I knew it would spike, but that's nuts. I even put a Damp Rid in there and that didn't help. Must be the room the tent is in. I ordered more Damp Rids and they will be here tomorrow...hope that helps. Also got an intake/outtake fan today and installed in ceiling to blow out air. Waiting for it to STOP RAINING so I can think about harvesting one of my girls. If I harvest and leave in flower room, would that be OK (with the lights 12/12?). At least the humidity in there is lower.

I got the Boveda 62% as well. I'll try tossing in a paper bag, after hanging, but before jarring -- just for the hell of it!! LOL

I think I've identified one of the Guess Girls! The choices are Girl Scout Cookie, Iced Widow, Cherry Bomb and White Castle:
Today I noticed this forming on this 30 day old girl

Any guesses?

Hi WillysMom! Cherry Bomb!

That's my guess. Nice growing. Say hi to Willy for me :)

I guess its hot and dry where I live compared to most. Ive noticed when I cure/dry it dosent take quite as long as 2 weeks before jarred when hot outside. Maybe a little longer when cool outside. They are dry after 2 weeks. Thats my procedure and Im sticking to it. Im by far no expert and encourage others (VETERANS) opinions.

Willys Mom, Im thinking you have to exit/exhaust that air from the room. If not you will be recycling the same air. I ran mine to a roof jack. That might help your high humidity issue?
again im no expert but I dont think its good to recycle the air whether LED or HPS.
One step at a time!!
Im also thinking only hang that plant in the tent to dry if you have to because of the light and humidity. I would temporarily make room in a closet to hang.

Yes, I think the NEW guest room closet just got nominated for the dry!! Thanks for the idea :thumb:

I havent got the Boveda packs yet and only plan to use if I plan to vend to a club to make it perfect before hand. My process is perfect to a little dry. Its good the way it is.
I think the different percentages of Boveda packs do different things. The 62% puts moisture back in????
What Im thinking is only use the Boveda if you have to? Im just learning so any experts help is greatly appreciated.

Boveda will put moisture in if your bud is below the 62% level, it works both ways. I'm not sure of a better way to assure yourself stored herb is at the right humidity level especially to prevent mold.

I moved my drying rack into one of my tents. The house was smelling so heavy from having it in my utility room I had to make the change. I don't want to explain an odor to some neighbor or other unexpected visitor.

LOL! Hear you about the odor. I don't notice it anymore until I leave my house for an hour or so and come back home. It hits me when I walk in the door!! Now I make sure to run my Ona bucket with the breeze fan at least 6 hours before anyone steps foot in my house!!
