New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB LED

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Happy Munchday Reg.....looking good in here buddy:).......Great explanation Mr Skunny....even i could understand it:)lol

Hey PlanetJ.....i think to answer your question from my point of view it depends on your media whether you water daily or weekly.....i was taught to let the media almost dry completely up....just before the girl started going droopy........there are alot of variables........like you asked is he giving a sip a day or to run off.....how big is his containers....is another question.......if you are watering once a week and the girls seem happy and showing no signs of over or under watering then i would say you are doing it just right.......i think each of us have to find our own groove......listen to as many people/growers as possible and take what works for your regimine....:)....ok.....i am ddone running my mouth;).......i am sure there will be some more input which is why this sight is so great....different points of view and techniques help us become better gardeners:).....Happy Daze one and all:)

Sorry ....didnt see your post while i was typing this one Cultivator:)

Hey Reg. Looks like you're getting them sorted out. How ya liking the light?
So far I'm pleased with the SPIDER 9 Cajun. Buds are more dense, plant structure is better, and I can't get over how the leafs reach for the sky.

My friend, cannabis connoisseur; doesn't even begin to explain where your held in all our esteem! Your threads are always stacked full of solid tried and tested info, given in a warm friendly atmosphere! you most certainly deserve the title and far more my friend! :)
You're too kind LA but I feel I have a long way to go.
When I first attempted to help out around here I would copy & paste answers from outside sources. I did this for about a week before someone made a post stating that "anyone can copy & paste; there's a lot of bad info out there that could lead to someone following it and ruining their grow".
I didn't think it was directed towards me but figured if the shoe fits wear it. Since then I try to only state situations I've seen in my own grows or other members as advice. When using another member's I let it be known who's it is and if I can find it, add a link to the post so you can make your own opinion of it.

PS B,Girl is still gonna kick your ass fluxing :)
You wouldn't believe all the trash she's talking.

I feed everyday and never to run off. But I don't grow in soil, I grow in coco or hydro. Little and often, judge it so the pot drys out every day. That way u keep plenty air around roots while giving them exactly what they need.
With these 2lt Soda Pop Pots run-off occurs nearly instantaneously. If we stopped at run-off they'd get less than a pint of feed every watering. They average about a quart per feed and dry out on the most part in two or three days; there's 2 plants that need watering everyday.

I'll take your advice and give a plain water feed/flush every third watering Cult, as long as I don't see them asking for something.

Nice to see you around buddy :Namaste:

I think the roots need for air is far too often overlooked. You don't wan't them to "dry out", but they can "drown" if left too wet. I agree with Cult that you want the media to 'cycle'. The goal isn't to keep it in one condition all the time. Sorta like ph drift in hydro. You want to utilize the whole range of ph the same way you want to let the media go through a wet dry cycle. Just not too dry.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

So Hiker, do you think my feeding patterns are inadequate? I trust your judgement.

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

I think your feeding routine is fine, but I don't claim to be a soil expert.

The only soil plants I've flowered since the 90's were a set of old mothers. They made it full term with great flowers, but yield suffered as I had a couple 'incidents' during their flowering such as having to leave for a funeral and putting together an auto feed system less than 24 hours before leaving. It didn't work 'perfect' while I was gone. :blalol:

I was just commenting on Cult's bit about the wet/dry cycle. I don't post as much as I used to, but I still read a LOT of journals. I don't see people talk about this much, so I wanted to emphasize it.

I also agree with him about plain water feeding in soil. He pushes more than I did. I don't think I ever went beyond 3 feeds to 1 flush, but I've always used large pots that did not require daily watering (except maybe the final couple weeks of flower).

With your small pots, I understand why you might tend to err on the side of too wet. This is a 'hempy' style, right? I've always had my concerns about this style. This isn't a criticism. There are as many ways to grow as there are growers. Here is why I've never tried that style...

As I understand the logic, the little 'reservoir' at the bottom is a sort of buffer that the plant feeds on between feedings. This means you're creating 2 different root environments. Afaict, you can't maintain both optimally. If you let the bottom dry out between feedings, the top will surely be too dry and the root hairs will die. If you keep the upper part perfect, the bottom will be too wet which can cause other issues. These are MY concerns about this style of growing.

One of the guidelines I always heard is a plant will grow as wide as the pot it's in. For the most part, this has been my experience. You can of course push this with various techniques (hydro, scrog etc), but in general, a larger pot will grow a larger plant. This does not apply only to cannabis. This logic makes me think the real advantage to using 2L bottles as a pot is plant density. If I'm not doing sog, I would't use them.

As to your lady that lost her appetite, follow Cult's suggestions...
Flush her. Let her dry out a bit, and I recommend a lighter feeding for a couple cycles. If she isn't eating, there is something wrong with the roots. Be gentle until you feel she has recovered. :)

Re: New City Grower 3.0 - Sponsored by Twilight Group Co. - Featuring the Spider9 COB

Thanxx Hiker. I wouldn't go as far as calling it hempy because their run-off dishes are empty within a matter of 2 or 3 hours. Then it takes between 1 to 3 days for the soil to dry, depending on the individual plant. We wait to see a slight droop (not droopy) and check the weight before feeding again.

Will do.

I have a correction to make on the very first post of this journal. After contacting Jason of Twilight about switching to 90 or 60 degree angle lens he informed me that my panel was sent with 60 degree angle lens. Sorry for the mix up everyone.
