Need help and information

Hello. I'm so happy to have found this site and forum. I am really struggling with MS and so discouraged because regular medicine is failing me right now. I've had MS for 25 years and was doing reasonably well (considering) until 2014 when I had to have a knee replacement for arthritis. Since then I've been caught in ever increasing pain and disability. I'm on tons of medicines but to get to a therapeutic dosage they leave me sedated, confused and unable to think, and depressed. I want to try MJ as other patients at the clinic I go to have recommended it.
Here is what I want to treat:
Pain in legs: (burning nerve pain that keeps me from falling asleep and wakes me during the night.
Spasticity (legs, abdomen, hips. Wakes me tow or three times per night, then I have to do a half hour of stretching before I can get back to sleep.)
Bladder pain from spasms (this pain has some anxiety associated with it. More than any other pain I experience, this bladder pain makes me want to jump out of a window to try to get away from it. something to help calm me as well as pain relief would be good.
Arthritis pain: My non operated knee is now also shot but considering how I flared up after the surgery in 2014 I am not going through that again. But the pain in that knee is so bad I can barely walk on it. Is there an oil I can rub on that would help with that?

I have no idea what to ask for when I go to a MJ store. What strains are best? Can all strains be "vaped?" (I've heard that is better than smoking it. I want to avoid hurting my lungs.)

Should I talk to my pain specialist about getting a medical marijuana prescription? I'm really nervous about this. But is that the only way to get marijuana that helps with pain but doesn't necessarily make you high?
Are there some types that you can use during the day and still be alert? Others that help with sleep?

I'm collecting articles but it seems like everyone has a different opinion. One site will say to use sativa, other will say use indica, never use sativa. I'm really confused.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Ok my friend this is what I know so far, Indica that has a high CBD percent will be more of a sedative for pain, and will generally not get you high is a strain 90 to 99 percent Indica genetics. On the other hand the Sativa strain is a head high but yet energetic and creative, a cerebral high. Now there are many hybrids with both Indica and Sativa genetics which have been carefully cross bread for medicinal purposes, they will be rated either Indica dominant or Sativa dominant, the effects each one will depend on the dominance of the strain and its traits. That's the basic of todays medical marijuana cultivation and medicinal industry, well enough to help you out I hope.
Stay strong my friend and in the U.S. we go to a doctor who understands the medicinal facts about cannabis, and if they determine to recommend cannabis based on you medical record, bring all of your medications with you to the appointment, this will provide the doctor with proof diagnosis and previous treatment established, you will receive a recommendation to use medicinal cannabis to treat your conditions. Then you can find medicine that can even be delivered to your door in some legal cannabis states.

I hope this will help you out in your journey, learning about medical cannabis and how it helps with pain and relieves depression and many more symptoms.

I'm fortunate that I live in Washington state. I'm seeing my pain specialist today and I'm going to try to talk to him about this. I know my neurologist will give referrals for medical marijuana but I'm not sure about my pain specialist. But I need to talk to him about it so that it doesn't interfere with the pain medication contract I've signed with him.

I'm currently on a narcotic medication for pain and things have become so rabid here in this state against narcotic pain medications that even those of us who have chronic diseases like MS are made to feel like we're drug addicts when you let some doctors know that you are taking a prescribed narcotic. It's very stressful when you try to get the prescriptions filled at your drug store or whenever you talk to a new doctor. I've never abused the medication and all my records show that I only have one doctor prescribing. But still I get run through the ringer every month when I get the prescription filled. And forget about it if you ever have to go the emergency room for anything.

Besides having a better quality of life what I'm really hoping for with the MJ is to reduce or eliminate the narcotic medication.

Indica : Numbs body pain, Sleep aid more CBD
Sativa : Soaring high takes your mind from the pain. Anti-depressant, promotes activity. more THC

Sativas are harder to grow and in my opinion the best that cannabis has to offer for mind and well being therapy. can cause paranoia, racing thoughts if too much is taken.

Indicas yield the huge buds we all know and love to grow for commercial reasons, and it gives the famous couch lock. can make you dizzy and want to go to sleep if you take too much.

Strain names don't matter if you're ordering online then just read the description of each strain to find the ratio of sativa indica that you want. Today there are thousands of strains so, more important is the ratios thc to cbd
