N420 Grows Barney's Farm Orange Sherbert & Special Guests

Nice job on the cutting and canning, N420.

I agree with you. Those plants look like a set of triplets! :Rasta:

Thanks GDB!
Ya was told they are consistent but this is freaky! I’ve grown multiple plants from seed of the same strain before and there is always various pheno types but not these plants so far…I really hope I like the smoke lol.

Happy Sunday!

Time for an update it’s Day 35 above ground for these girls. They responded well after the up can a few days ago and have put on some new growth, the arms just below the topping site were long enough so this morning they got their first round of training.

Used some lawn staples to tie to and pulled their arms down to get some of the growth in the middle exposed to the light.

I only trained 2 of the 3 because when I was testing pushing the arms down on the 3rd one I heard a little crack, I quickly let it go but she had a little split on her branch. It didn’t go all the way through thankfully but I’m gonna give her a day or 2 to repair herself before I try to tie her down.

That’s all for today, hopefully everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Happy first day of Spring, and it won't be long before those plants spring those staples right out of the pot! :thumb:
Thanks Shed! Didn’t even realize it was the first day of spring lol. We’ve been getting nothing but rain over the last while so hopefully the sun makes an appearance soon!

I have to say the biggest down side of the staples is the plants can pull them right out of the soil but I like how I can position them right under the branch I’m trying to tie down.I also like how I can just push the staple further into the soil when I want to pull the branch down a bit further.

Nice training N420, and sounds like there was no harm in that lil snap. Hopefully it'll even make a knuckle. :cheer:
Thank you Rex, it was a minor split I meant to get a pic of it but couldn’t get the camera to focus on it!
I’m sure it will form a bit of a knuckle when it heals up and will be even stronger because of it!
I’ve done a modified super cropping on my plants before where I roll the stem between my thumb and finger to get it pliable but not to the point of it actually folding , it’s actually pretty effective to slow down a top that’s shooting up above the canopy and makes that branch stronger!

Yup I do that all the time. It's called "pinching" and is very effective, it's something I picked up from a member who's no longer active on here (Penny).
I roll it the same as you, until I feel that soft burst, then I leave it be. If you do the same spot several times it makes that area of the stem become rock hard over time.

You know all the tricks Rex! I’ve messed around with a few different training techniques and “ pinching” is a good one.

Oh ya good ole Penny, he was a wealth of knowledge especially when it came to different breeders as well as the linage of strains! He knew his way around a hydro grow pretty well too!

Quick update before I head off to work this morning,

Got the last girl tied down last night!

Everyone got their first watering since the transplant, they were fed with Flora Flex at an Ec of 1.9. I’ve been slowly creeping up the feed strength with every watering. Flora Flex recommends an Ec of 2.4 for Veg and I’m working the girls up to that.

All my little flat tops all in a row!

Gonna be defoliating some of the inner fans pretty soon to get some more light to the growth tips in the middle, they should really take off with the extra light.

Have a good day everyone!

Even after topping them they still look like triplets! Good job, N! :Rasta:

You know, that could be read in oh so many ways  .

They're looking healthy and happy N420! Is this the first time that you tried the Flora Flex nutes? I've seen a few people using them, and new nutes (new to me) always gets my curiosity piqued.

Thanks GDB! Now that I got the last one trained they are back to looking the same! Thank goodness my OCD was kicking in having one that didn’t look like the rest lol.

Hahaha trust me these are the only ladies getting tied down… Thank god Mrs. N doesn’t read this journal lol.

This is my 3rd time running Flora Flex but first time using their Veg formula. I had some left over Advanced Nutrients I was using for Veg before. I really like Flora Flex it’s a 2 part powered nutrient, part one is the consistency of flour and part 2 is kinda has a consistency of sugar, it dissolves in water very easily and is a breeze to use. I like how they provide a recommended Ec it takes a lot of the guess work out of it. I don’t run any Cal Mag with it, Ive never had to, I think having the 2 parts separated helps to keep the ratios easier to manage.

Looking great after the topping and training!
Thanks Shed, they are really starting to take shape!

Really? Depending on your scale, that's either 950 or 1330ppm. Seems really high for plants that small.
I know it does seem high. I fed them at the last watering at 1.7 with no ill effects.

This is the feeding chart they provide, Ive actually been under what they recommend

I don’t do the foliar that they show on the chart. This chart doesn’t include Cal Mag, they have one that does and the Ec is lower.

I remember when I was using Advanced it had a pretty high Ec too after the second week of Veg.

I plan on just seeing how they respond and will probably go back with a plain water watering the next time they need it.
