My Very 1st Indoor Grow - Bag Seeds In MG Soil

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

Well today I topped them all and I spayed the leaves with some water and 1/4tsp. of epsom salts the night before last and they all seem to still look like they are doing good. Will update picture soon as well. I just want to thank every one again for the advice and comments......and have a safe happy high H:bigtoke:olloween everyone!!!!!

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

Here a few of my favorites but my luck they will be males we shall see. I am watering them today and in 2 pots I am adding Sierra Natural Science pesticide. i got a sample of this the other day since the fungus gnats are driving me nuts and the pest strip was not working. I am going to try and get a better pic of the yellowing I have. I have checked the chart and I am still bumfoozeled. Hopefully some one can help me with that soon.

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

Looks like a mag deficiency. I would add like 1tsp to every gallon and feed with that. Either that or bug problem. Make sure to adjust your Ph and keep it consistent for the next few weeks while it recovers.

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

do you have any other pests??? that last picture looks like it could be either 1 of 2 pests, it could be thrips, or it could be (i don't wanna say it!) Spider Mites!!! when there is greyish spoting on the top of the leaves like that, it means that the life of the leaf is being sucked out, which is what they do... Thrips and Spider Mites make the same markings, you just have to look under their leaves!!!

I have checked all the plants for mites and thrips....no other pests except them damn fungus gnats. I have tested the soil and my water and the soil seems fine but the water is high in PH so i have to get that down somehow. What can I get to do that??

I watered last night with 1 tsp. so we will see here shortly if that worked at all.:thankyou:

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

well you can get GH pH down, found at most Hyrdro shops, or if you wanna keep it organics, then I know that Earth Juice has some natural pH down...what is your pH now??? soil, pre fed water, and run off???

My soil was at 6.3 my water was at 7.2 I dont know about the run off though.

Re: My very 1st indoor grow, bag seeds, in MG soil

I like to keep my soil Ph around 6.5-6.8 too low or too high of a ph will cause your plants to use nutrients in the soil and fed nutrients inefficiently which causes problems. Soil is way more forgiving than hydro in that sense but it is still good to maintain a consistent balance in terms of Ph.

correcting this is in the works Thanks to u and to astoner for all your help. I will update again soon hopefully I can get this under control.:thankyou::thanks:

With a little tweaking here and there, added some epsom salts, watered and also raised the lights some. Things are looking great. Think in 1 week we will go to 12/12

That Sounds exciting, you are gonna have your hands full soon.:thumb:

I am sorry its taken a lil while to get an update on here. Always have to take time out for family drama and BS. Moving to another state is extremely more stressful than i thought, things are so different here,,,,,,,but anyway here goes.........
I think I have fixed the mag problem and also got rid of the fungus gnats FINALLY. I am 3 days into 12/12 and now watering every other day since these babies are sucking up water like crazy. I am thinking of adding a third light in there so that I can spread them out more. That would make it 3000 watts over 27 plants. Any thoughts on that idea??
I am going to add super bloom to the next watering, directions say 2 tsp. to one gallon so should I add 1 1/2 tsp per gallon for the first time?
I have a thermometer in there now with a humidity reading. I dont seem to have any problems keeping those at a good range but I have 1 plant out of 27 that looks like the leaves are claws. I have tried everything with it from moving it around the room for more and less light or heat and nothing is helping it. I am at a loss since its really just one plant.
Here are some updated pics for you to enjoy if you see any problems please let me know.

Here is group shot 1 just before lights out

The next few shots are individual plants. It amazes me how some are very branchy and some are more shrubby looking.(short and bushy)

When starting a new set of nutrients it is always good to work your way up to full strength. 1/4- 1/2 would be a good start for this feed. you can also do a transition feed you can take 1/4 of veg formula and 1/4 of Flower and do that. Then next feed you will do 1/2 or 3/4 bloom formula. Then after that you can start working with full feed.

As for lights, You can never have too much. If you budget allows it then add it. The more lumens the better. Your space can accommodate it so it would benefit you but things you need to consider: Electricity and Heat. Will the extra heat be okay in your area? Can you afford the slight increase on your electrical bill? Things you need to weigh the pros and cons for. More lights = Bigger yield and higher costs.

:thanks: TOG,
I think I will go with starting with a 1/4 strength and see how they react to it. I really didnt do much feeding while in veg because I wasnt sure about how much the MG soil had in it. In doing that I found it actually has to much nitrogen and not enough mag. Trial and error I guess.
As far as the lights go...I have the means to use all 5000 watts but the heat is a issue. I think we will go ahead and try the 3rd light for this grow and see what happens.

Thanks again for all the info keep it coming

Its been a few days since my last update so here it goes.....
The last time I watered I added 1/4 tsp. of super bloom and looks like it really did the job. I have no more funky leaves, and I have no more discoloration on any of the new growth. Next feed I will go up to 1/2 tsp per gallon.
I am very glad I planted so many this first go round since I sexed them this morning and 12 had to die ;0( 12 males, 11 females, and 4 are still a bit young yet. They have no signs of male or female yet. So, tonight when lights come back on we will be rearranging.
I also had some bad new about my NY Diesel seeds. Apparently I got screwed!!!! And out the money............grrrrrrr very pissed about this. Can anyone give me a good seed bank to order from? My low budget grow is beginning to be not so low.
I will add pics after the room is redone.
