My new grow space

Thanks @Van Stank . I've got 5 in the Stank soil and all are looking stellar. One of my Blue Dream is a prime candidate for cloning, shes already 4" taller than her sisters. So 3 Blue Dream, 2 Critical Mass and 1 Critical Mass CBD plant are all organic this time through. Once the TTBs are sexed, I'll be reporting them in your mix as well and shipping them off to my brothers. I can't wait to see what the 3 in stank soil on his deck are looking like..... I've asked him to not send me pictures unless he notices a deficiency.
Hey, what's your take on the new Miracle grow all organic soil? I mean it's got everything we discuss including worm castings, kelp meal Etc..... your thoughts would be great?
I think Scotts/Miracle Grow has gotten a bad wrap. They were definitely behind the times for the cannabis community, but seem to have figured out that the market is enormous now. They have been releasing a few new products that I wouldn't mind trying in my garden. Seems they are trying a bunch of new organic products.

At the very least, it is widely available and easy to grab in a pinch.

Breaks my heart to think that I went out and spent between $7-800 to create 200 L of custom living Organics soil, and then 6 months later Miracle-Gro puts out a bagged product that costs $80 a piece and ultimately has some of the same formulation...... great learning experience for me though as I got a pretty good rundown of what all of the organic amendments in my soil does. Also allows need to change my custom formulation accordingly if I see any deficiencies.....well Van's formulation lol.

You should be able to make a lot more than 200l from what you picked up Guy. I am figuring I will get at least 3 batches if not 4 batches and the soil is very easily reusable and should get better as you go. Will simply require a smaller amount of amendments on the 2nd and subsequent runs.

Your costs will be negligible moving forward. A bag of EWC, some humus, the restock of some of those amendments after 4 or so batches (mixed from scratch). Once you have everything, its much easier and cheaper to keep making more.

And I can guarantee that what you are making is far better than what you will find in a bag on a store shelf. I pulled 28 ounces from a 4x4 in that soil from 6 plants and 2 of those plants from the sponsored grow are only responsible for 6 of those 28 ounces. I got 4.5, 6, 6, and 6 ounces respectively off those other strains. And lord knows what I am going to get off that damn Northern Lights. Just wait until you smoke some buds from it.....especially if you aren't adding any salt based nutes to it! So freaking smooth brother.

I haven't even heard they released something like that. I will have to take a look at it.

I still say making your own (at least for me being able to source things cheaper than you) will still be cheaper in the long run especially if you are growing as many plants as you and I are. If you were only growing one or two at a time, i would say consider trying it. But we grow a lot of plants at once and in my case, I like growing in bigger pots (7s for small plants, 10s for average plants and 15s for the monsters) and filling up a 15 gallon pot with bagged soil will get pricey.

Plus I am not sure how many runs you can get in their soil without needing to amend it with additional things for future runs. So you would likely need to buy many of the amendments you already have to get more than 1 or possibly 2 runs out of it. I am thinking that despite the fact you had to invest heavily into the soil amendments for your initial set up. Your costs per plant will be pennies on dollars moving forward, especially if decide to get into vermi-composting. You could probably take spent Stank Soil and just run it through a vermi composting cycle and it would probably be about perfect for your autos without any additional amendments. You would probably want to do some minimal amending of used soil for photo runs. But you don't need nearly as much. I will come up with a formula for re-amending used soil for you.

I know the initial costs were steep for you sourcing the stuff but you should be very very very happy with what you are getting from it. I might even attempt using a unamended used soil with a photo just to see how it does.

I'm being as patient as possible for sure lol. I have definitely noticed the difference in watering time when it's time to take care of the girls in Stank soil. Seen below, the 5 medium sized pots are all your mix....one of your ATFs back right.
So what have you found gets used up primarily? My batches are 100L each but 1st time around I made 2 full batches. I still have a hundred L tote full for the future. I do however water that batch about once every 30 days. I wish I had the space to get into vermicomposting..... I just think that's adding another element of unknown for me if I need to make it outside. Our municipality has been composting for over 20 years.

A couple of more up to date shots.
Definitely noticing what appears to be nitrogen deficiency in one of my ATF plants in flower. This is presently approximately day 30 for them.
Speaking of ATFs, my 3 girls in flower are really getting there now. Stacking up, filling in the voids between the flowers. I've never had three plants that tried so hard. Interesting in the growth difference too. The two that are are together are under one particular type of LED, and the single plant by itself is under and other type of LED along with my Crown Royal. You guys tell me what you think.

Here's my Crown Royal under the same light. This girl is chugging along beautifully.

I think that's it for now. I didn't get a lot of time in the grow room over the weekend as I am building a new fence around my property. The neighbor complained about my dog barking at him LOL.
You guys have a great week..... Be safe!

I am not sure whats getting used up in the soil. One thought that Ms Stank and I had was sending in a couple samples to be analyzed. We want to send in our original unused recipe sample, the new recipe unused sample and two samples from used versions of both. I can probably better answer you question when we do that.

Lucky to have somewhere to take samples too buddy.
Turns out my leaf colour issue was linked to PH. Somehow I had spiked from 6.3 to 7.3 from when I mixed 3 days ago. Maybe my air stone I use to help prevent things getting stagnant? I remixed, gave them all 2L of the new mix.

@Van Stank, one of my girls in Stank soil......any idea? Could be as simple as too much water. This one got hit twice 2 days ago by accident.....the only one showing anything questionable.
Otherwise, my girls are doing great! My ATFs in flower are stacking.....

Veg is getting super tight so I flipped my Trailer Trash Betty's into flower to fully identify sex (@Jackalope). Need to know by next weekend as they are migrating to my brothers for some deck love. It'll also give me a chance to uppot them into some 5 gallons . I'll be taking some clones first mind you lol. My dream, my critical mass and my critical mass CBD plant are all doing great in veg.

My ATF mother that I may very well flip into flower next round as I have taken a pile of cuttings that I plan on using to create a new mother. I will also be taking clones off my critical mass, my CBD critical mass as well as my to dream before they get flipped into flower in about 10 days.

My Gorilla Glue Auto......loving life!

Next is my Crown Royal in flower, shes turning out beautifully!

My buddy KCCO77, explained that when my girls in dwc are in late flower, that I should be raising my pH Up slightly higher than my normal of 5.7 into the low 6's so that my girls can take up magnesium a lot more easily..... I thought that 5.7 is exactly where I should be all the way through flower.......Learn something new everyday.

Think that's all...... I will update this one more photos tonight if I get a chance. I hope you all have a fantastic day.

The strain I have going now seems to have a sweet spot of 6.0. That dwc plant is a beast can’t wait to see how the the Gg plant grows in the bucket.

Guy, it looks like it very well could be overwatering. Give her another day or two and see if she looks like she wants to grow out of it. Whatever it is, doesn't look overly troubling to me brother.

Just keep your input water at a pH in the 6-7 range and you will be fine. The only issues I have had with my Stank Soil is if I use my tap water without lowering the pH level of that water. You should really be good without having to add anything other than plain water.

Ok cool. Yes I thought earlier (who knows where in my journal, lol), that I had read that I didn't need to pH my water, just use it right out of the wall.. Being said, last winter when I checked my pH coming out of the wall after 24 hours in a bucket with 7.0. When I checked it yesterday after you sent me the message, it was 7.6 so that should explain why she looks the way she does. It's actually shown up on both of my Critical Mass now but not the Blue dream, so mental note on the Critical mass.
Thanks for your help buddy. I was actually reading through your recommendation yesterday as I sat in the tent staring at her so your timing was perfect.

So on the advice of a good friend, last night in my flower room I decided to raise my pH in my dwc bucket to 6.0. I know I'm having really good luck with her, but I learned that they require a little bit higher pH than 5.7 in mid-to-late flower in order to take in all of the necessary nutrients to be able to stack up nicely and provide some nice fat Colas. I was using Canna PK 13/14 for the past week, so I know her phosphorus and potassium levels are up there now. If she could take advantage of those levels in her system for the next four weeks then she should stack up huge.

I'm thinking now that Van has chimed in, I have my yellowing leaves as well as my curled leaves on my critical mass in check. Ph swing was massive in my tap water, so I've adjusted accordingly , and according to my trendier, fish Emulsion fertilizer should help to bring my pH levels down in tough water too, while not burning the shit out of your leaves.. For yesterday's sake, I used lemon juice for the organic aspect. I guess the bonus of the fish Emulsion fertilizer is it will only benefit the plants.

Two days ago I put my five trailer trash Betty's that have not shown the sex yet into my flower room to stimulate them a little bit. I checked again last night and I do not see sex on any of them other than the one that I've been previously identified. I'll tell you what though, they are getting pretty big .....sexing them is mandatory as I certainly do not have the room for them to grow in veg so that I can keep them around. These girls are supposed to be going into the ground outside in 8 days.

I also took clones off both my Blue dream and my Critical mass last night, just in case.

That's all for now......have a great day all!

There's a lab in Ontario tgatcdoes just that for MJ. I met them at a show

My PH for sure, and your tip regarding the fish fertilizer has been indispensable so far, especially for the extra nitrogen. Still waiting on one of my Critical Mass to come around..... I hate seeing her leaves droopy like that. No worse, no better.....
