My Mystery Indica Reveg

I hope she doesn't become a bonsai, but I know what you mean. My main aim has been to try and convert the vertical growth into horizontal growth to try and fill the space, but the internodal growth has just been too explosive and I've had to keep hacking that away. I really should have taken clones very early on and used them all to try and fill the space.

I shall leave her go vertical for a while and then bend her down some more until the two clones I took from her start to catch up and then let it all go vertical.

Well, she ain't so bushy no more. As much as it pained me, I had to hack away some branches for the greater good.

That being said, I must also shoulder some responsibility for the bushiness as the very act of bending down the branches has allowed the light to reach the nodes, thus fuelling internodal growth.

Hi
I was of course refereeing to the shape and not size :hugs:
She will shoot some nice buds for sure :thumb:

Trust me, the thought of it actually turning true bonsai has crossed my mind on more than one occasion :)

I would imagine a plant fully scrogged would have a similar profile (except for the massive trunk on this girl - it's at least 1" in diameter) before it's let grow vertically. Although a regular single plant double topped would be a lot easier to control and a darn site less bushy.

So, I attacked this young lady again today. I pruned out another few branches in the centre and supercropped quite a few of the others. As she was putting all her energies into bushing, I decided that it is time to start decreasing the light schedule to try and encourage stretching. As I said earlier, she was on a 20-4 regime and I've decided to emulate nature somewhat. Rather than put her straight into flower mode, I've decided to reduce the lighting schedule by one hour every 2 days so that come boxing day it should be time to leave her on a 12-12 schedule. At least that is the plan and, as with all my plans, this is open to modification depending on the situation - including my whims :)

Sorry for being away. Got a bit sad after having to cull all of my plants... Back again though

You made me smile, but not 'cos of your sadness. That, I can understand. You sound like you need a big hug. Looks like they don't have a hug smiley here :(

I'm just about to upload some new pics I took a few minutes ago and took a bonsai view just for you. I noticed the previous bonsai image is no longer available for some reason so I'll re upload that one as well.

So, I've started reducing the light hours and tomorrow they will be on 17 hours and I will continue cutting down one hour of light every two days. The internodal branches are stretching nicely, but the main growing tips are remaining stubbornly compact.

Here is a low down 'bonsai' view from Dec 6

Contrast that to today, albeit at 180 degrees

It's funny, with the lights going off at 3.30 pm (I have cheap electricity at night so she sleeps early) now, I kinda miss seeing her so much. I like to go in and spend time with her or even just flip down the window hatch just to say hi, but my window of opportunity is burning away like a candle. I don't even want to think what it will be like when she goes into 12/12. :)

As an indication as to size, the pot she's in is about 1.5 ft diameter and the young lady is about 3 ft in diameter.

And the leafy little things you may have spotted at the bottom right hand edge of the pot? They're just some branches I trimmed and decided to stick in there in the hope they'll grow and help utilise the space better if they come good. If not, nothing lost. If they do, then maybe an extra few grams or so that I would not otherwise have. :)
