My First Journal: GG#4 In DWC & Soil

Soil plants still growing vertically as well. They are about a week behind the DWC plant in terms of flowering. Expecting this to slow down this week. Bloom nutes have been started as well.

My other flowering ladies....

...and finally my veg box.
Love Potion #69 is back left. GG#4is back right. That was the 2nd soil plant I had started a few weeks into this current grow.

Sounds like Walkerton Ont. Can. Not that far from me. Maybe an hour away.
yea I am not 110% sure it was there but if my memory serves me right then I would almost bet it was....I am pretty sure it was something used in fertilizers that was contaminating everything.

I think it was field run off, manure, caused E-coli poisoning. A few people died because the water treatment plan was slacking off and didnt keep up on the water quality.
Its kinda funny.. I recently thought about that while checking my res. and that happened years ago.

Most of the fertilizer contamination issues are from phosphorus. The runoff from the farmers fields causes algae blooms in the fresh water systems. That is what is listed as the cause of the toxic blooms in Lake Erie.

That aside plants are looking great. You are going to be swimming in bud here pretty soon.

Yea I remember the Lake Erie problem. I live right by it and sure hate the snow we get from it. This grow has also taught me alot more then I thought I had already knew. Since I am changing over to DWC and seeing how big the GG#4 got in just a couple weeks of veg....it made me have to remap everything Since 4 plants will be extremely big. Its a win win for me. Less plants to worry about.

So I was adding some water to my res and looking over the plant. I have some fan leaves showing signs of what I think some extra calmag will clear up. It is mostly on the largest fan leaves only. Nothing on top but more of the middle of the plant. Something i should try adjusting or just keep an eye on her but change nothing. Pic may not do justice but the leaf is huge. Thoughts?

That looks like the start of it. I had my Chem 91 get extremely deficient when I switched lighting just as flowering started. The LED's make them hungry for it. The beauty of hydro is it's an instantaneous fix.

Certain strains can require as much as twice as much as others in the same environment.

Not seeing much vertical growth now. Thankfully!!! Starting to see the bud sites form much better now. Also seeing some trichome production on the sugar leaves. I will be adding an extra 5 mgs of cal-mag this res change. 20 to 25mg for the entire res. Will be keeping a very close eye to see if my problem spreads at all. Doesn't seem to be now. I am about 3 weeks in so far.

The soil GG#4 is the very back right.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but just water it down.
Or was it kinda rhetorical?
Legit question....My first time growing where I had to keep track of PH and such as I was a soil grower prior. If the amount per gallon is the same and I water it down....would that not start problems? That would be like adding half the amount then? Or am I just thinking about it too much?

Love Potion #69 after a very heavy feed. She is eating at 125% of the rec dosage. Hoping the extra 25% controls her hunger. She sure is a very very heavy feeder. I did top her again after this picture was taken.

Its exactly like using less nutes. I

Oh believe me; I'm always thinking to much..lol.. If ya want to lower the PPM only use 2/3 or 1/2 the nutes and see what the pen tells ya. I'm tryin to use less on this grow and the plants are doing great, I keep the PH around 5.7-6.2 and the PPM around 850. just starting the 4th week of flower now.

I have been following the Fox Farm Hydro schedule to the T. I have GH Flora series nutes but I did not want to switch midway through the grow and cause problems. I have had my PPM up in the 1400's this past week. She is drinking around a gallon of water a day too. My PPM level has been over 1000 now for about 3 weeks and now I am where the schedule decreases in PPM but the nutes dont change at all. If anything I may keep her where she is for the next 3 weeks and once I hit that final stretch of flower....I can then let that PPM level drop a little and let her leach a little if needed. I just dont want to starve her this early in as I am only about 3 and a half weeks into flowering.

I grabbed a bunch of these from Dollar Tree a while back. Once the plant starts packing weight on and her colas start to fall, I'll be using these to tie them up. I think they may be the best option for me to use as it will allow the plant to move when needed.
