My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium - Advice Welcome

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

heya Dasher!

looking just awesome brother, your caramel is PUMPING and not even half way done! :thumb:
how are you yellowing issues going bro? it will be nitrogen- especially seeing it in the older leaves first... you can add some N to your soil bro- water it in. what ya could try is raking in with a small fork or fingers some blood and bone into the top of the pots and just water it in.. its safe as houses and will provide needed N as you still have a little way to go yet.
taking old crappy leaves off is allgood bro, they wont be doing their job and will only be sucking energy out of the plant... if they arent storing energy and sugars etc.. and arent able to contribute to photosynthesis or transpiration then i would just take them off.
yeah bro.. as they get bigger their watering requirements will go way up.. in my last indoor soil grow i ended up watering the girls every 2 days at about 4 litres each(35litre containers) they got THIRSTY.

all the best brother! :ganjamon:

Thanks Alks, the yellowing issue's actually starting to get worse and some of the big leaf at the bottom of the buds is yellowing now, I have some blood and bone so im going to do as you say now, was just going to post the photo with a HELLLP !!! lol Removed the lower dead leaves just had to touch them and they fell off anyway and hell yeah they're just sponges for water at the moment so think thats a good sign. The Cream Caramels looking nice but maybe not as good of a producer as the ?/Ice although that is starting to show a few orange trykes now so think that means they'll be finishing first, we'll see.

Hope alls well on the homefront bro thanks for dropping in when i saw your name on my thread i knew i'd feel better about things as your advice is always so welcome, helpful and re-assuring. :adore:

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Just removed lower dead leaves but the yellowing has crept right up close to the buds now.

Remember, your plant is posturing to finish it's life cycle, I have had perfectly healthy plants do the same thing. I have a question; are the leaves that are dying supporting a bud site, or are they the ones that are just at a node with no bud? Oh, another thing...that is a most beautiful plant!, I was just here getting loaded with people I love, I showed them the pic and we all agree that this is a lovely thing! +reps!

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Watered in a couple of pinches of blood and bone each of the larger plants and have just got some molasses, going to warm it and give it with water to all the little ones, off to look at wiz's journal to see how much to use.

I'm willing to bet that this is a manganese def! I was looking online at all sort of weed defs and I'm pretty sure that's what this is. As soon as I found it I came back here to tell you, so I didn't get a chance to see find any remedies or causes. I'm almost POSITIVE.

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Oh yes, and your budding plant looks AWESOME!!! I would give you more reps if they would let me.

Good luck with figureing out the spotting on your leaves, the pic i saw of the budding plant looks beautiful

Thanks mate glad you see her beauty as i do, just got to get her home :bitingnails:isn't it hard to decipher all this fertilizer def/exess/lockout business, i looked at a leaf damage chart and im like oh it's this one... um no more like that... or maybe this..:scratchinghead: still no bloody wiser lol

Cheers for thinking of me mate :thanks: just had a look and does looks the same just don't have that yellow line running down the centre tho, which part of NPK has Manganese in it lol im hopeless..

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Dasher,
Sorry im so late lol. I agree its a deficiency and i think adding some calcium and magnesium aka cal mg would really help, also a quick way to get some N to your ladies is make a compost tea or you could use some guano and top dress the soil a bit and water it in. I think your doing well and love the room. If it were outdoors I'd say use some fish emulsion but you might not want that smell, used it indoors once and the wife gave me the sideways evil eye for a few days lol.
Keep at it and youll do fine. Youll be amazed at how the plant seems to protect its flowers and when everything else looks bad the buds look better.
Plus reps brother

Dasher,
your right on time mate welcome, appreciate you reading through S1ingblade and thank you for the reps :thanks: I did read right at the start of this grow that plants under lights will need extra cal/mag but i didnt follow thru on it kinda got lost in the fertilizer Twighlight Zone iv'e been stumbling around in. iv'e added a touch of blood and bone for now and just going to wait and see how that goes for now. My plants are in the garage so no worries about the smell of fish emulsions i get a lot of fish so regularly have guts and skeletons available so was going to try whip up some sort of folia brew with that in the future.
wife gave me the sideways evil eye for a few days lol.
Yeah mate know that look well lol when i get it i usually duck on suspicion.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and support S1blade.

I looked some more and I'm pretty sure s1ingblade is right. CalMag should do the trick. Italy associated with those nutrients.

Utterly humbled, Thank you to you and yours mcloadie. It didn't get there alone I put it down to a good strain and the help i have received from you and all my friends and supporters at this site.

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Isn't some yellowing normal during flowering though? Due to the buds absorbing so much more of the nutes than the rest of the plant? It may not be something to scare yourself over yet but what do I know!? I'm sure the treatments can't hurt, so hopefully you see improvement!

Another thing, I don't know where in the world you are Dash, but assuming you do encounter a high increase in electricity costs maybe you can consider a small, quiet run generator. You'll have to exhaust it outside, but fuel costs may be lower than electricity?? And todays generators can run for hrs on minimal fuel. Just food for thought.

Good luck man! I'm keeping my eye on this thread. And I feel your pain in diagnosing... Who knew groing Marijuana would turn us into Doctors :thumb:

Re: My First Indoor Grow 2400w HPS Soil Medium- Advice sought

Yeah yellowing is normal, i think your right im scaring myself lol it was getting close to the bud tho :bitingnails: i didn't add to much blood and bone just thought it shouldn't hurt if not help. You know if the electricity costs are that high i will do the sums on a generator no problem having it running around my area as they're quite common here.

Dr Dasher :geek: I like the sound of that.

howdy bro! :cheesygrinsmiley:

yep, some great advice there! added cal/mag would not go astray AT ALL :cheesygrinsmiley: the reason i recommended blood and bone is its so darn cheap here and its all about N... but as you'd expect when you have a deficiency with one mineral it more than likely leads to deficiencies in other minerals.. as you notice with humans, vit D aids in the absorption of calcium and is intimately symbiotic with magnesium.. as is vit C and iron.. and so on through all of the minerals and vits. the same obviously goes for plants.. the fact that your leaves are yellowing all the way up to your flowers AT THIS EARLY STAGE(not even halfway through flowering right??) led me to recommend an N BOOST- sure plants are more about phosphates during the flowering stage but an added N boost during flowering if you are getting premature yellowing all the way up to your flowers would do no harm. what i heard when you mention it initially was "yellowing leaves" which seemed obviously N to me. personally i would use a small handful PER PLANT and rake it into your top soil... it wont harm your plants at all and wont disrupt your plants ability to take up phosphates etc either. when i used to grow in soil i would ALWAYS add a top dressing of dolomite lime and blood and bone and then add a thin mulch layer of compost as i flipped to flower- if i didnt transplant to bigger pots with new dirt, and they NEVER showed adverse reactions to it, quite the contrary..

so if you just added a pinch per pot i would'nt be afraid to up that dose to a small handful.. its not going to harm your plants one bit.. scatter it around the base of your plant until the top soil is lightly covered then rake in and finish with a good watering.

what you mentioned about your fish guts and bones is GOLD BRO! my mate grew two plants of the same strain last year.. one in his primary garden amped to the T with his fish guts, bones etc.. and the other standard dirt with added compost.. the prime plant grew to harvest over 1kg where the secondary garden and plant yielded 4 ounces!! use it brother! not to forget kina shells too!! they are like sponges that absorb alot of the minerals from the ocean- the perfect home-made, au natural, 100%organic super duper plant food right thur :cheesygrinsmiley: :thumb:

good luck with your plants bro! :peace:
