My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Movers

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

I have a pretty exiting update for the growshed im building in the spring.Ive been eyeing up a 17 000 watt propane generator, the kind that is conected directly to the main panel of your house. It will cost alot less than hydro this way and im going to add 4 more 600 watt led's to the flower room and get rid of the movers. This wont happen all at once,Im getting the generator next round and I ll add 2 lights a grow after that.I ll probably have to upgrade the a/c and scrubber to a 10 inch as well so its gonna take awhile but im stoked!!!the shed is beeing built 400 feet from the road so Im pretty sure sound wont be an issue and my grow will be 100% of the grid:)

All kinds of stuff can make it change colors. I have used all kinds of butanes and 5x butane or higher has given me some nice wax crumbles. But from what Ive read some strains just wont butter up. Ive cooked stuff for an hr trying to get it to wax but like you said it was still damn impressive. Your buds look better than some i have grown so I cant imagine how good yours is.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

anybody have any experience with something like this?the customer review I read said he runs his entire 2500 square foot house with hvac washer dryer, microwaves ect with no problems at all and it cost $20 a day to run so $600 a month with twice the lights I have now.I pay more than that now!

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

yep it is, but its alot more efficient in the long run.not to mention I live in the bush, the power goes out for days sometimes during the winter. It happened to me twice last winter,I had to hand water the girls several times a day with a flashlight until the power came back on.

Holy cow Jon hydro must be damn expensive in your neck of the woods mate! I thought ours was bad! Awesome idea to use the gen and be off grid and a nice attempt at budder. Did you find the process fairly easy? Have always felt nervous about making that stuff with the butane and all but i would like to get into extractions and stuff!

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Such a great idea jon!
That genny sounds like it will be more than enough..
But it says the motor needs maintenance every 2 years, or 200 hours..
Most people using these are only using them for emergencies.
What if you're running it non stop to run your flower room.
Does that mean you'll be changing spark plugs and doing motor maintenance every 2 weeks? (200 hrs).

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Thats a good question Vick:) Thanks for giving this stoner a heads up lol...I might have to look into different models designed to run camps or jobsights,im sure the price goes up but it would still pay itself off fairly quickly with twice the lights, twice the yield and pretty close to half the cost to run.

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Yeah maybe one that's designed to run for extended periods of time..
Even though it could be fun changing spark plugs and doing oil changes in -35 weather, plus you'd probably get pretty good at it after the 10th time and losing a few fingers to frostbite. lol
But you'd always have your house Hydro as a backup for your genny just in case.

Damn right it would pay itself off though, especially with more lights!!!
Wow, that just makes me think about this workshop of yours. It's going to be incredible!
And an excellent investment IMHO.
I'd love to do this some day too, as well as solor powered hydro!!
Get the hell off the grid, and make medcin!

the job site ones pending on size of tank and fuel may only run 5hrs before they need a refill of gas.
if you look for one see if you can either get one that is hooked to natural gas or diesel.
the diesel will run for longer hours with out service but you will still need to refill the tank and change the oil.
the natural gas could be hooked into the house line if you have it. but you would still need to service it on a regular basis

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

hey everyone, heres a rough draft of what im picturing for the workshop. The structure is a 20x30 prefab workshop.Im going to divide that space into 3 rooms, flower, veg and trim/res room.I might switch to organic just to make this easier.20 plants in the flower room 4 coming off every 2 weeks in a perpetual system.I did the math and the veg room will be run with hydro and everything else,floweroom,a/c and dehumidifiers will be run from a propane genny.the structure has an attic so I will use two 4 inches inline fans to exchange air from the flower room and the veg room.

Its definetly an ambitious project but I have 5 acres of cleared land to build the structure.Im going to start collecting things over the winter like the genny just to spread out the costs.
what do you think?

ps:I suck at blue prints lol...but you get the idea:)

Re: My First Grow Journal-Holy Grail Kush- Purple Kush 6x12 Scrog 4 x 600W LEDs On Mo

Thanks X:) Yea Im exited about the Chernobyl!I think I have a male.I was all gun ho to try some pollen chucking but now im not so sure.Ive been reading alot on the subject and now im terrified im going to pollenate the flower room and that cant happen, so now im on the fence about it.My plan was to flower the male in the veg room and seal him in a large garbage can for his night cycle everyday. The problem is I have to go through the veg room to get into the flower room.the rooms are completely sealed from each other but I would have to do my thing in the veg room then wipe everything down, strip down, shower, put clean clothes on and then go into the flower room.even then theres a good chance of contamination. There is alot of negative pressure in the flower room, sounds like a wind tunnel everytime I open the door so theres a good chance of some sneaky pollen getting sucked into the flower room.If this project cant be contained to the 2 rooms then it aint happenin! My wife has already upped the master bedroom for my set-up if I hijacked another part of the house for this she would go nuclear on me lol...any suggestions?

Hi Jon -

Sorry I didn't catch your post sooner... As far as males, you are right to be cautious. They do need to be well isolated and kept well away from females or ventilation sources for females.

When you can isolate the male effectively, you should definitely consider giving it a shot - I had a blast doing it, honestly. :) In fact, seeing your post inspired me to document the process I used to selectively pollinate and make unique seeds/crosses, and I added it to my blog here (check it out if you get a minute!):

Selective pollination - how to dabble in breeding and make your own unique cross

Finally, cool plans on the grow space upgrade! I know nothing about generators, but your plan sounds like it makes a lot of sense as long as you aren't having to do lots of maintenance to your generator as mentioned... I was drooling over the space for sure! :thumb:
