My 1st Attempt At AutoFlowers!

A quick question i know someone will know the awnser to... Im 7 days in on some autos using a 250wMH, i have a duel spectrum HPS and wonder when would be good to change. I have herd that MH for veg is better but would like to have your opinions!
:grinjoint:

I would switch when you see pistils, but that's just what I would do, metal halide lamps are supposed to keep the nodes tighter in veg. My buddy uses a dual spec hps, and he uses cfls for veg, because of the tighter node spacing, and less heat.

HPS during veg can cause stretch as the light is of the wrong spectrum. Even though there is plenty of light, the plants stretch searching for the correct kind. HPS during veg can be really helpful if you are looking to go heavy on low stress training as you will have more stem to train.

Those broads are lookin' real nice! I just dropped three autos Monday night. So excited for these babes to break dirt! Hope my girls grow as smoothly as yours have. Great thread.

Hello everyone and green wishes to all ! :)

I agree with DankLover ...

I switched to an HPS from CFL's when I personally thought they were strong enough to cope with such intense light ... (This was around the time of the 4th/5th nodes showing with internode branches very visible). But the Auto Critical had already shown atleast 4 sets of pistils by this time.

I kinda have to agree to disagree with the node stretching though because since they've been under the HPS the node spacing have been a lot tighter and there's no stretch from the 1st-2nd nodes upwards (Which the only stretch that occurred was under the CFL's) ...

But because my Auto's have started flowering maybe they prefer the HPS rather than a cooler spectrum. Since they are now showing signs of more growth in pistils and branches more than anything else. Especially the Auto Critical. Her 8th node is now visible and her branches are getting thicker and longer by the hour! Also every time I check her she's thrown out atleast 2 new sets of pistils. The Auto AK 47 is now also showing fast signs of growth in pistils. The Auto Kannabia Special is yet to pre-flower but I have very high hopes for this girl as she looks and smells amazing ! :)

A full update will be uploaded later today.

Thanks to everyone that's still here for the journey and I can't wait to see your Auto's compared to mine, Berri and SweetLeef so good luck and great to have you aboard :)

Peace and love to all

My Auto Critical literally grew and vegged for 19 days from seed before she shew signs of pre-flowering. I put them all under my 400w HPS a couple of days before this but only because it was more convenient for me at the time.

My advice is wait until you see dominant signs of pre-flowers then hit them with the almighty sun god :)

This should keep them nicely spaced between nodes throughout their life time. Aslong as you keep the light a sensible distance from the canopies. With a few days of testing I found out that with a 400w HPS the perfect distance which my ladies prefer is about 18" away for the 1st week or 2 of introducing them to the new intense light source. Then gradually reducing the distance to a more suitable height when you think they are capable of more intensity ... Just be aware at how fast Autos can grow so check them daily, ensuring they don't get too close to the HPS and make sure its nice and cool on the canopies. Just use a desk fan or something to blow away most of the heat :) ...

Hope this helps :)

Mate they luck very healthy for having recent nute overdose :)
Realy looking super well done
And arrrrrr I see.... Nug bud it's al the same.... Get it popped in next month

Thank you Alex :)

Many thanks my friend for the very kind words on my journal about the demise of Gert. Means alot thanks!

I know you would do the same for everyone here !

Have some well earned reps LA my friend !

Hi buddy. Hope all is good. I'm waiting on my autos to arrive :) Should be a good laugh :)

Hey dude ! ...

All is very well thank you :)

Mate you're going to be like "dafuq?" when you see the Auto Critical ...

She's growing at an AMAZINGLY fast rate after that slight over feed !

Hope you're ok bro :)

I'm sure ALL your girls are looking great mate :) I was wary of autos because they're so unpredictable lol. But, because I'm doing LA's flux style with my Tutts I thought I'd give em go for a quick turn around :)

If I could find an Auto strain that has a longer vegetative period it would be awesome !

You'd then be able to do some slight bending and shaping :)

I'm going to Gert "The Runt" so that will be my next objective ... I think she's finally decided to pull through now btw ... She's showing fast growth at the 1st set of internodes :)

I'm going to go get my girl out and under a CFL so we can see how pretty and green she is ;)

Lol. I've just placed my 2nd order with them buddy. 1st one came promptly, discreetly and was spot on. As you know, 10 out of 10 germ AND sprout so no complaints from me :) Alex has just ordered from them and it arrived the next day lol. They do some NICE freebies too :)
