Day 116 - Flower Day 55 - Day 62 from Flip

Well well well... I could dribble on for a minute, but I'll wait. Let's get to the good shit, eh?

In the past week, the Durban Poison has started fattening up her buds, the Strawberry Lemonades are about a week behind her, and just starting to think about the swell. Blue Dream? Meh, who knows what's going through her mind. Typical woman, so whatever it is I'm sure it's being over analyzed and blown out of proportion.

A closer look at the DP's corner. She's close. Damn close. I'll break out the scope and give her (and the rest) a look over later today.

A look into the corner of batshit crazy. Er, I mean the Blue Dream corner. Yeah, that's it.

She's humming along, but obviously taking her sativa traits to heart and taking her sweet damn time. That's alright. If we aren't used to waiting on a woman to get ready by this point, well, I don't know what to tell ya.

A closer shot of SL #2. (This is the one that went into the setup initially.) She's getting there, but just lagging behind the DP a tick.

Tighter in on SL #1. (1 and 2 is just positional reference, and this is the one that replaced the GDP when she was a runt.)

She's started to really eat herself up now, and may be behind her sister at most 2 or 3 days. Of course that's visually, not by the trichs. Either way, I see them probably being ready at the same time.

And now Blue. Her sugar leaves are long, thin, and loaded with sticky trichs to the tips.

Now for the stuff you've come to depend on for lining your bird cage, mkay? (Mkay Mr Mackey.)

Today being Saturday, time for a res change. Over the week I've observed (again) a rising EC, lowering water level (from the top-off) and a slowly falling pH. What's the handy dandy chart say??? Yep, lower the damn EC.

You may recall that last week we dropped from 6g/gal of MegaCrop to 5g/gal. While that curbed the rise a bit, it still went up from 1.55ish to 1.65ish (about 70ppm on the 700 scale).

All this being the case, I dropped it to 4.5g/gal this week. This put me at an EC of 1.41 (which includes about 20% tap water, and 1.5ml/gal of Protekt silica) or right about 990ppm on the 700 scale.

We'll see how it goes. Still have food, just a little less. Regardless, one thing is certain. Blue is going to finish last.

The Harvest Watch starts on Monday, so yeah, I need to get a peek at the trichs to get a better handle on planning. Wait, not like I got other shit to do in the evenings now.

On another front, I'd like to jump back to December and the little deal with the light (GC ROI-E680.) At the time I was ok with it, but now I'm not so sure. Yeah, it's fine, but I've had issues with the controller not wanting to "wake up" now and then. It happens about once a week, and is to the point where I make sure to check on it to make sure the light comes on in the morning, and then make sure it's not froze up before lights out. Combined with the "gift package" that never showed up after I called up their support (since I was willing to work with it instead of doing a return/replace), I think I'm going to say fuck it and send the light and controller back. I'm not 100% sure whether I will go for replacement or refund yet. I'm tempted to go for the refund and pick up the 500w Budget LED panel and call it good. That will still leave me with some leftover after that light, and just happens to be enough to pick up another 250w series 3 panel. Or maybe 3 of the 250w series 3 panels instead. Hmmm... Might not be a bad option, and I'd save 200 watts on that tent's usage while I'm at it.

Don't get me wrong, I really do love what the ROI-E680 does. It does it damn well, and the results are great. However, I could do just as well with the Budget lights, and maybe just a tick better?

Anyway, that's where my thoughts are on it at the minute. I get that the first run of those lights had a minor issue. Fine, whatever. But their controller has been around for a bit. Even with adding in a little bit more for LED's, they still shouldn't have a damn issue with waking the controller from sleep. There's no call for that, and I wake it up at least twice a day. So it isn't from sitting idle for any length of time, it just happens when it happens. I think the real kicker is I was cool with the initial deal, and when they offered up some accessories and swag for willing to do so, that was fine. Then when that never showed up (not that I really cared about the actual gear, but it's the point of the matter), and the controller having issues, yeah, I'm done with the whole "work with it" shit. Not 100% sure if I'll go for replace or refund, but whatever. They're back ordered all over the place right now, so they're probably cranking them out like mad. That being the case, their QC may not be up to snuff at the moment. It may be, but just sayin. Guess I'll see what the deal is when I finish off this run in a couple weeks and get back in touch with them.

Hay MV , I Love my @Budget LED light. I got three of the series 2 + red spec 350watt lights and I Love them, They did a Great job. They are a Great company and the costumer support is Outstanding even after you buy the light. :high-five:

Absolutely. They've been really, really good. I have ordered 4 of the 250w red spec's, 2 each of the series 2 and 3. I haven't went overboard, but if I can get a refund on the other setup, I think I'll take it and swap in some Budget LED's for that tent too.

Checked out trichs earlier.

DP’s a week off, SL2 is maybe 10 days. Didn’t look at SL1, and Blue is clear, thinking about cloudy.

Strawberry Lemonade 1 (SL1) in the bottom left didn't really stretch much, and is obviously lower now than the rest. Her sister did better though. I bumped the light intensity up a tick (98% to 103%), but left the height the same. Get a little more oomph for the last couple weeks. Durban Poison (DP) is swelling well. Really well. She's getting a couple thick fatties on her, and still going. The Blue Dream (BD) is coming along, but a bit longer to go than the rest at this point. She's still not even turned her pistils.

Now onto the trich/harvest watch!

First up, SL 1:

And finally, just for shits and grins, the BD:

I'll admit that I was a tick surprised to see some of the leaf trichs on the BD starting to turn amber. I would have thought it would be another week or so before the leaves began turning as (most) of her pistils are still snow white.

DP is getting there. I thought she would be a hair farther along than she is, and was honestly thinking she would be ready this weekend. Instead, it looks like she'll be another week most likely. I'll check her again in a couple days, but right now across most of her top flowers she is a hair clear, a fair bit cloudy, and a sprinkle of amber. Close, but not quite.

With that in mind, the SL's may be done about the same time. They look a week to 10 days away as well.

I feel a tick bad about not putting a ton of content into this in the past few weeks. Just really nothing to report. Just waiting on the swell, and then chop. Like watching grass grow. Wait, wut?

However, have no fear... things are humming along, and Saturday is res change day. :)

Definitely!

DP and SL2 for sure. SL1... kinda meh, but she's getting there. Maybe I should have put her in perlite too.

DP is definitely in the swell. She has some fatties on her. One just looks like a big cylinder shape all the way down. No taper at the top, just straight into fatty land.

All of them, even the BD, are sticky AF. So I guess they got that goin for them. :D

Tomorrow I'm going to drop the UVB strips down a little closer (6" lower, make for about 12"-14" above) and run them a little longer. Just at the right time, me thinks. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Be careful around uvb it’s dangerous stuff.

Yes it is. Can mess ya up real bad if you're not careful. I use painters tape and write the times on it, then stick it to the front zipper of the tent. I also look over at the timer they're hooked to and look for the power on light.

Thanks, Chef! Glad you stopped by!

It’s water change day, and all that jazz going on starting about lunch time when the lights come on. Then time to look real close and see if an extra week was enough or not. :D

Water has been initially mixed, now getting the circ pump for further mixing.

3.5g/gal MC, 1.25ml/gal protekt.

Well, crap. It's that time of the game. Chop? No chop.

This is a pretty decent representation of each of the plants that are on the edge.

These are all calyx action, and their little petals. No sugar leaf at all.

In the first and second examples, I think they could go today, or any time this week.

The third example I think needs another week. While the plant itself is visually ready, getting to the trich level shows she's probably a hair off yet. Some places are different than others, and not all spots I checked had amber. Most did to at least some degree.

Which one is which?

That's all part of the fun!

If in doubt let them go another week.

I did.

I think the first two are there, just opening the window.

Third one, just not quite. This is the one I thought would be ready this week, that I left last week. Yet this week, the overall profile didn't really change and she looks about the same "give it a week" stage.

These are all of the third example above:

You can see she's pushing new calyxes, trying to get knocked up. She started the swell a little over 2 weeks ago, and there isn't much change visually to the unaided eye.

She's ate herself up pretty good, really. But other than the trichs, she looks way done. :(
