MVortex's Perpetual Thread For A 4x4 Tent & RDWC

Sorry, history and stuff like that fascinates me. :D

For example, the big square on the north side of Notre Dame... underneath it are ancient Roman ruins. Guess they originally found them when they started digging several decades ago to make a parking garage or something. It's pretty crazy.

We just don't really have that kind of stuff here.

Pretty sure the dirt smell is normal for hydro roots and what u want to be smelling.

Sounds good to me. :D

I haven't ran into it before myself. Used to run SM90, so well, not much going on with that in your res.

Sure wish it would get back on the market, but Z7's rocking it and no complaints. (As long as you remember to use it, and don't have light leaks.

Nice I am currently alternating between h202 and UC roots. I had some pretty solid rot and that took care of it. I am thinking about switching to Z9 ( Canada) but know nothing about it other than reading a few tid bits on here.
I am really excited to see your plants take off once they get some root mass in the water and accustomed to those fancy lights you have :) It should be a great show!

AFAIK, Z9 is the same thing. Probably just a tick of an ingredient difference or something, I dunno. It's good stuff though.

I'm also excited to see how it gets going. Three of the girls have their feet wet, and here in a bit I'm going to go take a look at the new addition. I don't think she'll be quite in the water, but I bet I see roots. She was going hard already, so I doubt a better environment slows her down a bit.

Light is about 24" over the girls right now, and set at 40%. I figure that is probably a good spot for vegging early on. I'll probably bump it to 50% in a few weeks once they are really going.

This isn’t the main, but a piece that got trimmed off one of the big ones. Couldn’t let it go, but would have been odd on the whole brisket.

So what do ya do? Cook it too!

It’s on point, just like it should be. Moist, tender, peppery goodness.

Ugghhhhhh

Looks terrible

Do NOT suffer through that nasty mess of smoked dead animal

Send it to me, Tiggernado will dispose of it properly

Lol

I personally dont like Z7. It foamed up on me, which usually isnt an issue, but the foam turned to concrete as it dries and made a mess. I have a lot of air blowing through my water (RDWC) which was the main culprit. So, if you dont have that, you'll probably be fine. I also didnt like adding it every couple of days. I use Hydroguard. No foam. It works well, and it's not too expensive.

GDP made it into perlite this morning. Little root to show, but she’s trying I guess, and has shown a slight growth. More late tonight on that, with a pic.

@multiVortex Merry Christmas and hoping your New Year is green and plentiful!

You too brother! The girls in the lab are gettin sticky icky. :D

Vortex. Dude it was good to get to know you this year. I want to thank you for hanging with me during my trail of hydro tears a couple months ago. Let's all have a great new year.

Absolutely. It’s been great getting to know you and everyone else too. Nice to be able to not live in fear over a silly gardening hobby, and be able to share and learn with others.

Happy holidays Vortex it’s been fun following along.

Thanks Jamers, and the same to you and yours.

Surprisingly, I’m not bursting into flames right now, so all must be good!

There’s the runt. Guess she’s trying to prove me wrong and give a little hope.

Not much, but there’s progress

And a different shot perspective from the back access panel towards the front.

You can see where the runt is taking up temporary residence. A few inches from where she was.

Strange never seen it foam hardly and never seen the hard junks on the side

Maybe ya used too much, hardly need any of it, and I just add at rezz changes, never mind stream

Love the stuff, mixed with hydroguard, fantastic pair

Not much to report. Will most likely change the water Saturday. Honestly, the EC/PPM is still where it started, and the pH is barely drifting. I reset it to 5.7 last weekend, and it's at 5.8 now. There are roots, but not much being used. I'm alright with that, and the girls look well and are growing.

Haven't checked out second strawberry lemonade down below yet, but she's catching or caught her sister.

Still haven't made up my mind if I'm going to actually scrog these girls, or just quadline and call it good. I'm tempted to play around a bit with a quadline and maybe some type of open structure (like a round tomato cage) to keep that center open a bit. Haven't decided, but have been trying to think ahead.

So the short of it is we're vegging, and so far all is well.

Our little runt? Damn that bitch is full of spite. She's taken to her perlite house it seems, and pulled out of her funk a tick. It looks like I'll have room for her in the Lab tent, as one of the strains looks like it's going to stay fairly compact and short. Going to run a hempy/dutch/bato/whateverYaWannaCallIt bucket, and have a 3.5gal set aside for that.

She's still in her little solo cup, sitting on top of one of the bucket lids in the RDWC tent still. She'll stay there for the time being, until I need to move her as the others take up real estate.

So other than fighting a humidity problem and tinkering around with various things in the Lab (working on some drip irrigation stuff right now), we're moving along.

While I'm at it, Merry Christmas and/or happy holidays to all y'all.

I'm a bit preoccupied, and apologize for not making the rounds to everyone's journals to be a bit more personal. However, the best wishes are still there and wishing everyone well!

So far so good. I'll see if I can remember to take a few pics later on. I'm bad about getting involved with doing whatever task is at hand, and not snapping a pic or two.

Here’s a shot from the back access. I was filling the humidifier and it was easier this way.

Here is strawberry lemonade #2, with a sideshow from the GDP runt.

Durban poison is looking well.

And finally our blue dream.

The leaves really aren't ragged out, I timed the snap wrong and air from the fan was moving her.

Well today is the day.

We're going to do the first res change. This mix has went a good bit, and is the first mix that saw plants in the system (on Dec 10th.) Although being the first, it's not really being used yet. The ppm is still 610, pH still 5.8, and the water level still right where it started.

However, they have roots in the water, and have to be eating/drinking a tick. So I'm going to go ahead and get it changed up.

Will be moving MC from the seedling level of 2g/gal up to 3g/gal, as the plants are over 3 weeks old already and growing well. I've even considered 3.5g/gal, but will hold steady with 3g/gal for this week.

So the big picture of this weeks mix will be:

ProductPer GallonTotal
ProTekt3ml150ml
CALiMAGic3ml150ml
MegaCrop3g150g
Hydroguard2ml100ml
Z70.5ml (each of part A and B)25ml (each of A and B)

Once the RO is filled up (it is now, but I'm going to take 5gallons for top-off and let it fill back up) I'll be off to the garden to get it mixing up in the barrel. I'll mix it initially with the drill paddle, then let the submersible pump mix it around for a bit. After an hour or so I'll pH it, and then do the drain and fill. :D
