outside and trapped in a container are two different things. A culling of the herd might not be the disaster we proclaim, but in a marginal grow it could make the difference.
and you are an expert. try this in a newbie's shoesNot sure what you mean. I run 2 gallon containers ln flower, no issues.

So is the point of Grizzwalds comments...is that chlorine does not kill off soil microbes? And if so, it would be great to link some science that explains it.
Everything I’ve come across says chlorinated water will kill off microbes. And at the price of microbes, I’d really rather not take chances with wasting them, or losing their benefits.
Please feel free to clarify!
Tap water will not kill off your entire heard of microbes and your plants will grow deliciously, was my point.. I'm assuming your tap water is drinkable and doesn't smell like a swimming pool.. a little intelligence is required, you know. I'm not saying to add chlorine to your nutrients,if that's the point, your trying to make me out, to make, lol
Here's the deal.
Will chlorine or Chloramine completely kill off your microbes, fungus and etc?
Not completely no, even my horrible tap water which is 1.5 ml chlorine and 2.7ml of Chloramine wouldn't completely kill off the microbes.
But so phucking what.
Why the hell would you want to kill ANY off?
I dump at least an average of a gallon a day on each pot and I keep my soil very moist as you should with LOS no-till.
Why in the hell would I pour any antibacterial into my bacteria.
Why would I super oxygenate my water with my mycorrhazae inoculate and let it sit in chlorinated water?
If you're bottle feeding then it makes little to no difference if you use chlorinated water because the nutrients are coming out of a bottle mostly.
If you rely completely on your mycorrhazae herd to feed your plants then it does make a difference, wont completely sterilize your soil but certainly isnt going to help any.
So if you have the option to use totally dechlorinated water then why wouldn't you even if it only helps a little bit.
I want my soil as alive as possible and I take great care in achieving that symbiosis between my soil and my plant.
Dumping a freaking gallon of chlorinated water especially as bad as mine is onto my microbe herd everyday just doesn't seem conducive to that goal to me.
So I will err on the side of caution and simply and easily use RO water as my blank slate that I add what I want in it.
I don’t even let my water sit that long, I fill a 10 gallon trash can in my tub and dump that in a couple times when I’m doing my nute change.. I also run bleach in my system, no living bacteria in my buckets, nice and white roots, healthy plants, my grow is in my signature as wellKind of funny, I have read a few statements that say if in hydro you should dechlorinate the water . I run a perpetual in an ebb and grow system ( buckets) not a flooded table and will drain, clean, refill and mix the nutrients about an hour before my plants are fed every other Sunday. Zero issues with straight tap water to the plants. Current stuff is in my Signature.
Peace OG
citing something like this which pertains only to outdoor soil conditions is disingenuous and not at all helpful to a community consisting of mostly indoor closed container growers.
