Munki's Ebb n Flow 3 x 3 SCROG 400W HPS Grow

man munki, great great job.

those look killer under the uv. i always love to play in blacklight. just get me a michael jackson glove and im good for hours. lol.

it looks as if some of the buds are developing midway through the screen, with only 1" mesh, and wire at that, it might turn out to be one bugger of a job getting them out of there.

but it looks fantastic. im so interested to see if the uv side develops or smokes different.

LOL. Sorry (to waste a post) munki, but shit's just funny. Ain't sayin much bout ur grow cuz right now I'm in  mode. All this lighting stuff is beyond my scope at the moment. Lookin good tho. Just think of me as a semi-silent observer here.

The next 3 weeks are gonna be torture not to cut off sample buds. So has anybody confirmed that scrog increases growroom efficiency yet?

Depends on your definition of growroom efficiency?

If you're talking about yield per plant I believe there's plenty of documentation out there and I don't know if I've confirmed it but I'm willing to bet that if I had grown those 9 plants without the screen, that I wouldn't have harvested anywhere near 27 ounces. (over 3oz per).

In fact, I'm growing the same strain again without the screen to see. I'm betting I'll be closer to 1 1/2 oz per plant this time (between 13 and 14 ounces).

The screen can help yield if your prior grow method did not allow for efficient dispersion from your light source to the canopy. ScrOG allows a a large portion of the plant to get similar amounts of light so it grows evenly. You get more buds, but they will be smaller than the single large buds produced by SOG.

A comment about the last set of pics. The color change is not from the UV. I do not run it with me in it. The color change happened from me setting the white balance to the HPS color. If I now take a pic of the plants under the HPS, it isn't so yellow. But any area not getting lots of the HPS light will only have the flash light and it is now shifted towards the blue so that is where that icy color is coming from.

California with their dispensaries makes waiting much easier though I still can't wait to try my own.

Munki, next round of pics, can we get a shot from the ground up from beneath the screen? I wanna c how that light penetrates or if it can at ll. Might be hard cus the whole screen isn't covered. If possible can get a close up shot of where the foliage and buds are most dense? Perhaps I can get an idea of how much light would actually get thru to undergrowth if there was more.

munki-
now, aren't you glad we got on your case to trim the undergrowth?

Love this grow bro!

Thanks Andy. I was going to trim underneath anyways, but you inspired me to pull out the whole plant so i could really go to town on them.

I'll try but it is hard to really show it. When the tent is closed, the light will distribute differently as there is another reflective wall and the sides suck in with the negative pressure in the tent. But the screen does not cover the whole floor space and the canopy did not fill the whole screen. Furthermore, the front left section of the screen isn't totally dense like the front right area. I run a fan that blows air underneath that area to encourage some airflow.

hey M, Just stop by to say howdy. Still learnin ta get around on the site & not sure how to hook up on the friends thing yet. Cool set-up! Just learnin bout the Scrog method. Why is it called Scrog? Perhaps a dumb question but a fella has to start somewhere. LOL Look forward to sharin ideas...peace n good luck...MF

nice video give such a better prospective of you rgrow munki!!GReAT JOB once again

an di got to agrre with you on the light distabution to the plants. Its funny i've grown sea of green for years and i ussually snip the tops then let the bottom growht finish out fo another week befor ii chop the rest this help give a heavier harvest but i do this just cause i have the space to switch the next crop to 12/12 in another room as i finish chopping.SCROG cuts this method out.I'm just stuck in the sog method for now.i think my next run may be scrog. But the 420 fied way. just push the under and not weave them throuch.Cause the bubbas stalks get WAY to thick to even go into 1 inch wire so im going to opt with a trellis.I honestly hope it comes out as even and consistant as yours.

thanks WMac...Duh, reckon in was a dumb question. Here I was thinkin it was perhaps a Euro thing. Ya know, let's drink some grog n grow a Scrog sort of thing....LOL Thx again Peace n good luck...MF

**one last question, I promise. The silver tube hardware suspended of above the grow. What is that? Fan, humidifier? Air cooler? The grill off a 59 Edsel?? Thanks...MF

Weedy got the answer up. Don't worry about not knowing the terms; I didn't know anything just 6 months ago. No dumb questions if you are earnest. We will be happy to help here. Oh yeah, in the upper right of your computer screen, look for the "User CP" link. You can accept friends there.

No real threading going on. During training, you may twist tie a bud stem to a certain area of the screen that has few nodes but no need to thread them through. When a stem is pulled under, it acts like LST tie downs forcing the plant to create smaller but more numerous bud shoots from the side of that trained stem and up through the holes in the screen.

Thanks Weedy.

Oh, the unit in the back of the grow is one of those tower fans. It is really one long squirrel cage type fan. The bearing that holds the top spindle made too much noise for me to use in the home. So, I took off the base and used zip ties as holding points so I could suspend it horizontally. It constantly blows air from the back to the front of the tent. It's primary purpose is to keep the canopy top cooled from the radiant heat of the HPS lamp. If I had an actively cooled light, it wouldn't be as necessary but it works well and was cheap. I can get the lamp very low without burning the tops. The issue I have experienced with this setup is the bleaching of some fan leaves in the middle of the canopy. I moved a few leaves around and the are striped with darker green areas having been shaded by another leaf.

Just wanted to put up a couple of pics of the clones I took. Note the trichome production on the leaf shown. Is this an effect of taking clones while in flower? This clone was taken in that manner and its parent too was from a flowering plant (I think). Growth rate is very quick.

yeah clones from a flowering plant has trichs on them, check out my tron grow, i have a purple haze clone thas taken almost 2 months to start vegging, also justaddwater has a few with the trichs still in his clones

The strange thing Weedy is that this leaf wasn't on the original cutting. If you look back on my cloner thread,

Wick Cloner: simple, cheap and effective

you can see that the leaves earlier did not have any trichs. They have already made my garage smell like weed for the past few days. I will of course keep monitoring them and will post anything interesting.
