MrBubbles Perpetual Grow

Congratulations on your harvest!
Thanks KC!

Yields were def a lot lower than I was hoping but I did have take her down about 2 weeks early. Smoks pretty good so far. Still needs to cure a bit for the lemon to come out. It'll probably be gone before that happens tho lol.

Can't wait until I can build up a stockpile. With the new hps I'm now able to run 64 2L under 1 light and 9 5gal under the other. Besides increasing plant counts I'm also focusing on increasing plant health.

My condolences mrbubbles87

Thank you! :Namaste:

Mr B. what made you decide to run so many smaller plants? Multiple variety? or are you trying to go for the sea of green type tactic? Just curious. I wonder how much one of those little 2 liter plants will yield? Seems like it would be a pain in the ass watering all those two liters lol :thumb:

All your pics look great. Happy belated birthday. I hope it was a good one!

Thanks!

Just an iPhone camera. Def need a better camera but just a waste buying one compared to the phone cameras that'll be coming out. It was a great bday :)

A variety of factors made me try this method. The grow bible from Jorge Cervantes def prefers high counts of small plants for indoor growing to maximize electrical use. He lists several case study comparisons that favor the SOG method vs larger plants. This is my primary argument against plant counts. I'm a firm supporter of a sq footage allowance instead.

Josh also influenced me quite a bit with his success. He's able to average 15 grams per 2L plant and sometimes more. I'm able to run 32 plants between 2 trays in a 4'x4' section. It's actually even a little smaller. That's 64 plants so even if I get only 7 grams per plant it's going to be a lb.

Another reason is it's a way of diversifying my portfolio. The problem with only growing a few plants is if you mess one up and have a small yield your f*cked and have to wait a month for the next harvest. Unfortunately this is a lesson I've had to learn recently. With this method even if I mess one up or even a dozen I have plenty more. It also will help provide a consistent variety.

The final reason is productivity. I'm basically testing two methods of growing in my tent. The small plant SOG is my production line or my Budweiser. This method is focusing on yields, consistent supply, and efficiency.

The 9 plant 5 gal porta SCROG will be my micro line or New Belgium. This method is more about focusing on quality and learning to grow gigantic organic trees. If I mess one of these up I don't have to worry about going without meds.

Unfortunately if the laws stick with plant counts vs sq footage eventually I'll be forced to grow all large plants. I'm just trying to provide a steady supply of good medicine while I learn to stay within these strict guidelines.

Watering isn't too bad actually. I have a 2gal watering jug with a long narrow nozzle. Seems how I have the plastic tubs i can pour the water into all of the plants without even bending over much. I spill a little but my aims getting better :)

Planning on adding a reservoir auto drip feed system. Already have everything except the feed tubes and drippers. I have one in my amazon cart already. Also have to build the table. I have all the wood it's just too damn cold outside lol. Might even switch the auto fed plants to coco down the road and then run high brix on the 5gal.

:Namaste:

Sounds like you got your shit figured out man! Mabey one day in the future I will have to try this out. Thanks for replying back with such great detail man shows that you have passion for this!:thumb: Ill be interested to see your drip system once you get it all set up.

I wish I had my shit figured out. I never lack a plan though lol.

This is definitely my life's passion. I dream of the day where I can do this as a career. I've got a long ways to go before I will considered myself a skilled grower. I believe in perfection and I'm far from that. I'll get there though.

Should be a few weeks before I place my order. I'm really excited to switch to the drip feed. It will definitely help cut back some of the work. Slowly going to work towards running SCROG single crop trays. Then I'll run the 5 gals perpetual.

Thanks for stopping by as always! :)

Update:

Sorry I've been slacking on here. Been so busy lately I don't have a lot of time to update this journal.

I should have some exciting updates in a few weeks once I get some new goodies with taxes. In the meantime here's an update of where I'm at now.

Veg:

My veg tent is packed full! I have a combination of 2L, 1/2gal, 1gal, Dixie cups, and 5gal plants. I'm working towards eliminating the Dixie cups and reducing plant counts.

Starting to kick myself in the ass for using the 2L bottles. I'm averaging .80 per bottle and now Home Depot is selling 1gal nursery pots for .98 ea. Eventually I'll convert but it's low on the list right now.

My perpetual right now still goes from the cloner to Dixie to 2L. Then a select few get 5gal. Usually the really bushy ones. I'm vegging the 2L SoG plants for about 4 weeks right now. 2 weeks in the Dixie cup and 2 weeks in the 2L. The 5 gal are getting 2 mos of veg.

I know my veg times are slow. I attribute this to low temps during lights out. Sometimes as low as 60. I'm noticing some wrinkling leaves which I also believe are a result of these colder temps. Not something I can really do much about right now. It'll get better once the temps outside warm up.

Anyways on with the pics...

Here's a Blue OG I just moved into flower last night. It didn't fill out nearly as much as the other strains but still think I'll be happy with the results.

I also recently harvested my 3gal Wild Thai. Guessing she ended at about 10 weeks. Had to harvest her because we were out of meds. Was pleasantly surprised. Ended up with a full jar and the smoke was very smooth. My first 100% sativa so I'm happy she wasn't a total let down. The 5 gal version will be next. Trying to hold off as long as possible but will probably be harvesting her in another week here.

Flower Tent:

I'm running two different setups still. One is the 5 gal porta SCROG's. Only able to fit 8 of these max under my 600. I love these screens because the really help spread the plant out to increase tops and also because they help to keep an even canopy. I can run plants at different ages and still keep a fairly even canopy. I'm not yet sure if yields will be better this way it all naturale. It's something I'll be testing for in the future. My debate is that I have the height for full grown plants but then I have an uneven canopy.

Under my 2nd 600 I'm running two 2x4' SOG trays. I'm testing between creating multiple tops vs single cola. I'm also considering going from 2L to larger plants. Right now I can for 32 2L per tray. Would like to drop this number in half with larger plants.

I'm sill hand watering all of these now. In the future I'm planning an auto drip feed for the SOG using Coco. I'll run the 5gal plants in high brix and water those by hand. In addition to these changes I'm also in the market for a larger veg tent. Thinking of getting a 4x4. I have a friend who will buy my 2x4 so it won't end costing me much. Beforehand i still need to install an independent breaker for the grow room. Once I do this I can run a thermostat controlled space heater to help regulate temps more.

Here's some pics of the flowering tent...

Update:

It's been really tough trying to keep up with this journal. Hopefully things will start to settle down soon here. I really do enjoy this forum. I have learned more on here than anywhere else.

Here's a few pics. You'll some of the updates I've made to my flower tent. Still have a long ways to go but really excited about having the second light now.

I also included some pics of the lemon Thai kush I recently harvested. I took her down at about 9 weeks vs the recommended 10. Only flushed her once with a gal of water and sledgehammer 4 days before harvest. I discovered on my two small auto flowers that I harvested last week that a long flush isn't necessary. I would prefer a 2 week flush just to be safe but I've haven't noticed a big difference between flushing and not flushing.
This one could've gone a couple more weeks but were almost completely out of meds and the trichs are 50% cloudy.

Have to say this is my best plant to date. The yields aren't huge. Maybe only up to 2 oz max but the quality is fantastic and I had perfectly green healthy leaves all the way up to harvest. I credit this to the ease of the strain vs my own skill tho lol. It smells just like lemon gasoline.

In the veg tent I'm still spinning the gears. Running my Dixie's to 2L to flower and occasionally growing a really good one in a 5gal porta SCROG. I did recently transplant a lemon Thai Kush into a 5gal with earth worm castings added. Hoping to see a big difference.

My critical mass, blue blood, and bubba Kush need about 1 more month of veg to get them where I want them. Hoping for big single plant harvest followed by a herd of SOG clones I get from the preflower defol.

The northern light x skunk seedling has two sets of leaves. Guessing about 2 months of veg for this one.

I'll try to post pics of the veg tent soon.

*************************

Today is my golden birthday. It seems fitting after the recent events in my life. I believe in always looking for the positive side of things no matter how bad they seem. There is always someone worse off than you.

I have learned a lot this last year and that's because of the obstacles I have had to overcome.

I believe I found my passion in life. It's funny once you finally see things clearly. You realize all the signs were there all along you just never saw them before.

My whole life has been about weed. I loved it from the first moment I smelled it. Everyone who is close to me needs this medicine. I have already had to endure the death of more loved ones than most people I know. Almost all of these people could still be alive today with this medicine. Many of them were victims of alcohol and tobacco.

I have a lot of regret for letting fear prevent me from helping people and doing what I love. That guilt burns like a fire in my heart that drives me to work harder. I stay up for hours every night in the garden. I keep pushing myself harder and harder to do better because I will never let a patient down again.

I welcome the day I have to stand before judge and defend myself because I am not scared anymore. I will gladly sacrifice my freedom for this cause.

Expect a lot in the next few months guys. Income tax is coming and my wife is behind me 100%. I gave up drinking this year just to make sure I keep all of my focus on weed. Were also planning to make it out to Denver for 4/20 this year! Hoping to learn a lot and see how my homegrown compares to the pros. This might be the year I start to grow full time :)

Thanks for following everyone! I appreciate all of your comments and supports. It's truly feels like a community of friends.

:Namaste:

Dude I had to bump this. Your garden looks green and happy bro great work. The wife behind you 100% and you quit drinking. I am an ex drinker as well and I must say I don't miss it.

Awseome job brother. +Reps ordered

Thanks Shotta! Means a lot coming from an awesome grower like yourself. Just had to learn not to be scared of the nutrients lol.

Loving life without alcohol so far. Haven't had a single drink since New Year's Eve. This was actually my first sober birthday since I was 13yo lmao. Just had to quit because of the cancer, risk of a DUI, headaches and just sick of drinking stuff that doesn't taste good nor is it good for you.

I was surprised by how many people ridiculed my abstinence from alcohol and criticized my use of weed instead. When will this world learn the truth? It's so frustrating trying to convince these people that weed is a better alternative than alcohol. Guess it's just like racism. Some people will just never learn. I actually feel sorry for them because I know they will suffer needlessly. They all shun the one medicine that could cure and prevent some of the most terrible diseases known to man. Ironic especially considering the recent article from the WHO concerning cancer.

I'm still stuck in the corporate trap for now. Dreaming of the day I can get free and live a healthy life where I don't work my life away doing something I hate. Sick of eating unhealthy food and living an unhealthy lifestyle. Just gotta set goals, work towards them, and if you don't reach them don't give up.

Hey guys,

I wanted to show you some new toys I recently purchased and a couple fun pics. I don't work for any of these companies or anything lol. I just believe a big part of anyone's journal is the different products they purchase. I trust the opinion of forum members before I trust any website.

First is a Magic Flight Launch Box. This thing is amazing! I got it for $75 on eBay. I've tried all kinda of vaporizers from volcanoes to convection table tops to portables and this is by far my favorite. The only one I would prefer above this would be a volcano and that's for $400 more dollars and a big bulky scientific unit vs a small compact artistic piece like this. I can easily get 5 trenches per battery. I plan on getting the power adaptor, concentrate tray, and water pipe whip in the future.
A2EECE52-2255-41AF-AEC4-9AEB5DA51087_zpsiydc9yls.jpg

Next up is a Ryot 7"x7" double screen dry sift box. I got this one for $79. Kind of spendy but high quality materials.

As you saw in my last post I've been getting into a lot of Bubbleman videos lately. That's really turned me onto the art of dry sift full melt dabs. After hearing the way he explains dry sift vs water extract or solvent extract it sounds like dry sift is the best. Your able to maintain all of the terpenes and still get a purity of up to 99% once you master the art.

Obviously this little unit won't produce a lot but it will be a great way for me to practice learning dry sift. I like this idea because bubble hash, concentrates, and edibles all leave the material virtually unusable afterwards whereas with this method I can collect the pollen passively by just rolling my joints/grinding my material over it. Also these methods are very time consuming and labor intensive. I still plan on practicing these more complex methods but more for large runs of trim or big oil runs for RSO.

In the future I'll be making my own large wooden frame screens mainly to trim over and maybe to do large dry sift runs. I would've like to get bubble mans bubble box but $250 is too much for me especially when I could get a tumbler for that price.

0C2DAAE7-85BB-42EF-BEAA-3286DFCE322A_zps04tjlwhf.jpg

I also ordered this smell proof hard case from Ryot. I've noticed our homegrown stinks a lot worse than the bud we used to buy. Anytime we bring any with us the car reeks. I figure being able to store my MFLB and bud in this case without any odor is worth the $18. The best way not to get busted is not to get searched right? :)

And here's a pic of the my last bud of the Lemon Thai Kush. This is some of my best bud yet. Super dense, sticky, and reeks like lemon gasoline. Tastes amazing out of the launch box!

Enjoying your tent mrbub, you have got a great deal of plants going on :Namaste: Your lemon thai looks absolutely fire! Great job :thumb: I keep up with bubbleman constantly, Subd to his page when he had less than 100 :) He really knows his stuff, his macros don't lie! Dry sift can produce some kill! I love his ceramic d nail hits & the ti hits in slow-mo haha.. I have been wanting to make some videos like that. & the greatgardener.... DUDE.. I had a little freak out moment when I saw his drying racks!!! Such a clean & easy way to keep everything labeled and contained, now that facility, would make me a happyHAPPY camper ;) Do you known the micron sizes of the screens on your box? I have been looking for a kief style box like that for the longest time, they all looked way too expensive to me, or Im just really cheap

Loving the tent bro but realizing that a 2x4 veg tent isn't enough for a 4x8 flower tent lol.

I do have a ton of plants going. Hoping to get that number down soon. Thinking of maybe doing 1 gal or 3gal SOG auto drip feed vs 2L. Right now it ties into my veg tent size. I can't veg the plants large enough. Hoping to get a 4x4 within the month.

I was super impressed with the lemon Thai. Mainly I think it was just an easier strain to grow. It could've gone 2 more weeks but still pretty damn good. Have one vegging in a 5gal now. Going to do a porta SCROG of this strain for sure :)

I'm amazed everyday by all shit I find online about growing. Feels like I've been in a cave my whole life. I have found tons of awesome Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube pages. Sometimes it makes it feel like weed is already legal everywhere. It's hard not to create my own grow Instagram or YouTube channel lmao. Any others you recommend following?

I love bubble mans philosophy on dry sift dabs. I can't wait to be able to do that myself. Hoping to be able to produce full melt dry sift with my new box. Then I can try vaping it in my dube pen or in my launch box.

Ryot used to be called Wikka boxes. I literally spent 8 hours researching these boxes online yesterday lol. Ironically I could not find the micron sizes of the screens so I'm taking a bit of a gamble based on other peoples reviews. Guessing the first screen is 100micron if it's similar to their other models. Couple other good ones I found include exotic zombie, hazemaker, 00 black leaf, and one in Cali called mrkiefman who makes them custom and only ships to med states. Your looking at $50 -$100 for a decent one IMO. There's cheaper ones on eBay but I was worried about the wood flavoring my bud and also flaking from the lacquer. I think it's well worth the money. I waste so much kief. I'm guessing the launch box and dry sift will pay for themselves in a month. I just can't wait to get bubble mans 4 screen set for $175. That would be perfect for trimming large amounts and getting tons of kief.

I'll still be running oil, edibles, and water hash but probably using trim for those seems how the leftover material is virtually useless. Then ill use the dry sift method for buds. Then I can still smoke them with 80% potency afterwards plus a pile of hash :)

The house of the great gardener was so amazing. It's exactly how I envision my own operation. It was a perfect combination between a scientific commercial op and a small family farming op. Thought it was awesome how they converted that old building. You can easily see how they handcrafted everything. They put a lot of love into their product and you can easily see a huge difference between this and some of the large commercial ops in the states. I want I visit that place so bad someday. I literally started researching moving to Vancouver island right after watching the video lmao

Man Mr. B looks like you are getting all kinds of new toys! I also love my MFLB and just sold my Volcano on ebay! That Lemon bud looks outstanding! Keep up the good work man, looking forward to your future grows and what you decide to do!

Thanks BP! Income tax is always the best time of the year :)

This MFLB is so awesome. I haven't smoke a single Jay or bowl since I got it. Really can't say enough good stuff about this product except the price tag for a power adapter lol. I still want to get a volcano someday tho.

The LTD is by far my best strain yet. Thinking I might be getting this growing thing down. My upcoming Dinachem smells amazing compared to the first attempt. I guess practice does help. Still a long ways from where I hope to be but getting there.

:thanks:

Pretty psyched! I recently upgraded from my iPhone 5 to a Note 3. The camera on this thing is unbelievable. Hoping this new toy will help improve my journal for you guys.

Sorry for the sideways one. Not sure why I'm having trouble getting that one to upload correctly. Guessing it's a size issue and that's not what she said! :yikes:
