Mother of Berries, M.O.B. Maine Strain

I was wondering if you leaves had burnt or what was going on. I see a lot of soil growers that will star in smaller pots and gradually move them up to bigger and bigger pots. I veg in 1 gallon pots and after they get rootbound I will move them to 7s and flip them. This is the way Doc Bud recommends doing it and I have good results doing so. I am going to try going from 1s to 3s and then into 15s when I flip at some point in the future. I should be able to get some BIG plants in 3s. I get some monsters in the 1s even. Some times they get too tall. I need to work on training better to avvoid height issues.

Lol nope not burning. I know a lot of growers do transplants and so on as it’s supposed to be better for plants. However, I’ve remained content with using big ones almos from the beginning. The only move that’s been made is from Solo cups to the big ones. I think I’ve talked my way into a better light (HID) end of June so hoping I can get a slight veg boost before I flip. I’m pretty much Solo now so have freedom to do what and when I want so it’ll make more sense to use the larger pots. Part of the reason I used them to begin with was the expectation of a bigger light as we talked about previously. (Still going 600w btw). Secondly, the reason I went for a larger pot was to expand root space and the larger theoretical amount of mycorrhizae it could use to help produce large pearly white roots and create greater resistance to problems. I also have been thinking about adding an dehumidifier to the tent for flowering purposes. I haven’t had mold yet but If I can help avoid it or at least minimize my chances I intend to do so.

Mold is never fun to deal with. I have found lots of airflow is key to help prevent it. You want 45-55% humidity when flowering. If it is less than that you can stress the plants and actually cause them to be more susceptible to mold even though you would not think that is the case. I am glad to hear you are getting a new light , but you being solo sounds like it may or may not be a bad thing. Hopefully things are well for you bud.

Week 7, Day 2 I have a few different angles to check out. Plants really seem to be picking up the pace. Made a few tent adjustments to ensure efficiency and optimization of air flow, exhaust and import of cool air. There appears to be a slight mag deficiency going on the lower inner leaves of plant so added a little epsom salt to water hoping it will help.It appears as though that the lights are penetrating the canopy as that was my initial concern. If it's calcium related I'll either order cal-mag from botanicare or use one of the calcium-nitrate and mag solution or a simple home recipe I've read about egg shells and epsom salt. (I've read a lot of ambiguous content about how these LED's can cause these issues that don't occur with other lights, it's been my experience that is the case).

4 weeks and 5 days to go until flip.

Any ideas on the best way to address this? I can’t get another light until next pay. I may set blue LEDs to one side and as T5 over the others. Until I can get HID in here.

Week 7 Day 3

As mentioned previously, I have thrown in the T5 to help a bit with a richer spectrum, working with what I have until I can get a good light (2-3 weeks). Plants are coming along. Temps this morning at 74'. Probably going to need a watering today.

T5 is closer than it appears. I know it has limited distance capacity.

I can't believe I didn't figure this out. Plants at bottom were turning orange because pots were filled up all the way so because it partially encased the lower portion of the plant it basically cooked it by making it almost 5 degrees hotter so I pulled the sides down. I've completely lost interest in this grow and flipped tonight. No point in moving forward any longer with a fucked up plant.

Plants at bottom are pretty orange. Rest of plants seem ok but I know I'm limited now so going to run with what I have. I'm so mad at myself.

It is hard to tell especially with the lights on. I have been spoiled using the kit because most issues that arise are fairly benign and even when plants show trouble they will typically make it to the end without dying. I will say that I have lower leaves die off when they are not getting sufficient light. They will typically turn brown and shivle up and die. Is that the main issue though? I cant say bud.

Skunk Kush Week 1 Day 3 of Flower. I raised the Lights a bit and doing some readjustments to accommodate stretching and all of that. Average temps have been 76' (F). How far into stretch can/should I use "Grow Big" before switching to big bloom? Also, I know it's kind of late now but was wondering whether or not FF's box set of "dirty dozen" is worth it, it includes Holy Mackrel with special stuff for root drenching, etc. I'm sure it adds benefits but more specifically, I'm asking whether the investment (whole box is around $100) is worth it in addition to the light and all the other good stuff I plan to bring on board.
(Pics are a lower quality because my phone broke so I had to use my backup and as a result lesser quality).

I only ever used the grow big and the tiger bloom, but a guy I knew used all the dry ingredients and everything and had fantastic results. Much better than i did. Fox Farms supplies a feeding schedule that he followed and had good luck with. i would try and follow that if you can. i will say I remember him using less of each per gallon than recommended and that was when he was doing his best.

Having taken almost 2 months to reach nearly 3 feet. I have to assume that with a good light I can reach this height more quickly in future grows with HID? I'm also going to reduce plant size. Having said that I've done some research and was wondering if the adding coco pads at the bottom of each pot is worth it? My understanding is that it helps w/ aeration.

Ive never used them or heard of them so I do not know. I have found plants from seed take a long time for me to get to any size. Yours are already bigger than mine are at 2 months from lanting. I tend to have better growth from my clones earlier on after they throw out roots. Hopefully at some point you find something you will deem worth cloning so you can run the same plant a few times and get it dialed in!

HID means High intensity Discharge a general reference for HPS/MH. I like this strain and now that I have an idea how they respond to my specific methods. In my next grow I’m considering cloning from there and with a little more preparedness the next time fulfill my Long veg goals but may shrink pot size. I have some really big flowering sites right now with very even growth.

Respectfully I must ask and you can tell me to shove it (I can take it) if my growth is strong w/ even growth, etc. why would I want to incur a higher light bill from HID when I could simply increase the number of Similiar LEDs that I have?

(New Camera better pics)

I was talking about never hearing of the coco pads. I know what HID is and I should have addressed that you would have had stronger growth probably with a better light. You are welcome to do things however you see fit and a lot of people do not care for the cost of electricity when using HID lighting. You asked for a cheap effective light though and you will not find a cheaper light than HPS or MH, especially right now. By all means you can keep buying LED panels but it adds up. I suggest that if you want to stay LED that you look into cobs or board tech and that if you go that route you should build one yourself. Check out Growmau5 on youtube if you want a crash course hon how to build lights. Two of my panels would probably be plenty of light for your grow but they still pull 520 watts as opposed to the 600 I was suggesting you grab, but they cost 4+ times what that package I suggested does up front. Since I started using them though I have happier plans that are getting larger and yielding more. If we are going to spend months of our lives growing these plants shouldnt we try to get the most back from them as we can?

Just making sure I have the facts . I wasn’t questioning you so much as looking for clarification. I’ll have to look for the mention of pad use at the bottom the pot.
