I like the fan since I already have them going I just point 1 at the soil line.
Mosquito dunk question

Pretty sure I got some from a new bag of soil. Just ordered some dunks to get rid of them.
What chemical is in the mosquito dunk that kills gnats?
And the more important question, is it OK to use in soil to grow plants for human consumption?
It's a bacteria- Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (BTI)
When consumed by the gnat larvae in the soil, it destroys their digestive system (kills em from the inside out)
It's totally safe to use on your plants- it's only harmful to mosquito and soil gnat larva.
BTI is closely related to BT, the stuff that kills caterpillars, and is also totally harmless to anything but caterpillars.
From the Summit (Dunks)website:
"Are Mosquito Dunks® safe to use around fish, birds, wildlife, pets and children?
Yes. B.t.i., the active ingredient in Mosquito Dunks®, is very target specific for mosquitoes and does not adversely affect other organisms in the water. Mosquito Dunks® are also safe for use around birds, wildlife, children and pets. The EPA has registered Mosquito Dunks® for use in animal watering troughs and fish habitats. More recently the Dunks® have been approved for use Organic Production and Gardening, under the National Organic Program guidelines."

I know about BTi - just asked that as a general question for all chemicals or biologicals used on cannabis. We should be reading labels and asking questions. Its a healthful thing.
