MMJ Journal - One Man's Healing With Cannabis Experience

IVe been experimenting with cbd isolate this week.

Sparing the details .... Making my own cbd tincture is a good way to use it.

I mixed 20 ml of extraction oils ( 15 olive 5 LSL) with 200 mg cbd crystals. Simmered in water bath for 15 stirring a few times. Put it in 25 ml dropper bottle. This cost me $20 which compares we'll with purchased cbd products.

I can add it to anything to change the cbd level. This is a 10to1 mix but it could be higher.

Edit to add: I was always uncertain if hemp extracted cbd was as good as from cannabis strains. Oh yes I can confirm that now. Very pleasant.

Holy hell moment.... I just realized I'm fluently bilingual....yup I can communicate with Farenheight people and Celsius people back and forth even changing in the same sentence. I'm doing better with cc and ml and mg too but teaspoons? That's too much to ask.

A follow up to this ...

The cbd mixture has been resting in a cool cabinet for a few days. I took a half dropper full.

Something interesting is while still liquid it is like some type of a gelatin. When I swish it around, it sticks really well to all skin surfaces. That has to help with absorption and bioavailability.

I've adjusted the extraction formula to 3 olive oil and 1 LSL. That may be what's causing this.

I've been in mourning. I killed her :thedoubletake:

My poor little sprout was left in full sun for a couple of hours. Cooked. Fried. BBQd. Toast.

So now I have no seeds remaining. The seed shop in a nearby city was shut down. Raided and all goods confiscated.

I need to order some but I'm not liking the reviews I'm seeing for in Canada seed banks.

I'm reluctant because of a couple of online ordering fiascos. If anyone knows of a reliable and trustworthy seed bank I'd love to know about them.

O'Bear, I bought seeds from GYO Seeds, a sponsor here. My seeds arrived, but the order was wrong. They (GYO) claims it was my error, I claim it was their error... he said/she said. In any event, I didn't get the seeds I wanted and GYO made no effort to produce a satisfied customer. I won't order from them again, but that's not to say they can't do well for others.

I was in denial for so long. But I have finally started something new. Motivated in part my less than desired results of countless treatment scenarios, I have started a no sugar eating habit.

I have completed 4 days of this and feel differently for sure. It's hard to describe. There is a calmness, clarity of thought, don't feel rushed, or stressed. There is also a lack of feeling down or sluggish. I suppose this is the absence of a sugar rush and sugar crash.

I've gone through countless cycles of that over the years. I'm enjoying not experiencing that.

Speaking to a neighbour at the cabin who did a no sugar trial and she says the sugar cravings reduce significantly after 3 weeks. That will be welcome because it's pretty hard right now. As Sue mentioned in CCO thread, the cravings are strong and the enticements are everywhere.

I'm approaching this as a lifetime event but I'm focusing on one temptation at a time. Winning so far .....

Caffeine Detox: How to Quit Caffeine and Break the Addiction

Caffeine Addiction
quitting-caffeine
A caffeine detox may be needed for many reasons and some of those could include:

Caffeine may no longer have the same effects it once had.
Daily caffeine consumption amounts are out of control.
Caffeine consumption is leading to health problems.
Doctor’s orders.
Whichever the reason, quitting caffeine isn’t easy since most people develop a strong dependence on the daily dose; both physically and mentally.

You can get expert help for quitting caffeine here.
There are generally two ways to detox from caffeine and we describe each of those methods below.

Two Methods for Quitting Caffeine

1. The Cold Turkey Method

With this method, a person simply ceases to consume caffeine. While this can be the fastest way to detox, it does come with a price.

Pros:

The fastest way to detox from caffeine.
A realization of caffeine’s influence on body functioning.
Cons:

Can produce severe caffeine withdrawal symptoms.
A person may be out of commission for 1 to 3 days.
Can lead to loss in productivity.
Produces more of a tendency to give up.
Did you know that rutaecarpine can remove caffeine from your system faster? Find out how here.
Prepare in advance for the cold turkey method!

If you choose the cold turkey method it’s important that you know what to expect and to prepare in advance for the debilitating withdrawal symptoms that can follow.

Plan ahead so that the first couple days of detox fall on a weekend or work holiday.
Have pain relievers on hand and avoid driving.
Have plenty of food on hand to avoid the need to drive anywhere for food.
Prepare some meals in advance like soup or other easy to digest foods.
Talk with family members about what you are about to do, what they can expect, and how they can help.
Inform your co-workers and/or your boss about your caffeine detox.
The method of preparation is relative to the amount of caffeine you had been consuming. Those who had been consuming large amounts of caffeine should prepare more than those detoxing from smaller daily amounts.

2. The Weaning Method

With this method, instead of quitting caffeine all at once, the person gradually reduces the amount of caffeine he/she is consuming daily.

We recommend stepping down the dose about 50mg less every two days until the zero daily caffeine amount is achieved. This can be achieved by just drinking less of your typical caffeinated beverage or by drinking a less caffeinated alternative.

Pros:

Withdrawal symptoms are much less severe.
Most people can continue to function and be productive.
Mild to no caffeine headache to deal with.
Less shocking to the system.
Cons:

Can take longer to detox depending on the beginning daily dose amount.
Requires tracking caffeine and being intentional about what’s being consumed and how much.
Either one of these caffeine detox methods will work, but a person has to decide which one will have the least impact of his/her lifestyle and which one is likely to be the most successful given the unique circumstances involved.

A Personal Caffeine Detox Story

Ok, I feel lousy.caffeine-detox

I’m tired, unmotivated, and my head’s foggy.

I have half a headache and I’m cranky. Why?

Well, thanks for asking. Yesterday I decided to start a caffeine detox.

For several weeks I’ve felt the need to reset my “caffeine clock”. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, I need to return to the time before I had such a tolerance of caffeine. A wonderful time where one coffee would bring feelings of elation and joy, leaving me ready to take on whatever task was before me.

Unfortunately, the occasional coffee turned into one a day, then two a day, then mixed with energy drinks and chocolate covered espresso beans. Wham, I was hooked. I soon noticed that I wasn’t really getting the benefits of caffeine anymore and really just needed it to maintain a normal level of tiredness so I decided to detox.

Yesterday I cut back to one coffee and it’s been over 24 hours without any caffeine.

The withdrawal symptoms are making it very hard to get my work done today, but I’m plugging on as the receptors in my brain learn to readjust from their caffeine fed state.

Caffeine detox isn’t as easy as one would think and I can definitely see the ties to addiction that caffeine possesses. There is also the little voice that keeps telling me to make a pot of coffee and all of this will go away.

However, I’m listening to the bigger voice telling me how great a cup of coffee will be at the end of my two week detox from caffeine.

Other Tips to Break Caffeine Addiction

HealthyEater.com has a great piece on weaning off of coffee. They believe going cold turkey is not a good idea and supplementing higher caffeine items with lower caffeine can really help. They suggest replacing a coffee with green tea.

Another thing to do is to take power naps during the detox. However, that is not realistic for most of us. When was the last time your boss was happy with you taking a nap under your desk?

There are also some supplements that claim to help detox the body from caffeine, but we are researching those before we make any recommendations on that front.

:thanks::thumb: Enjoyed reading your healing journal and your old bears den journal today. Thanks for all the info, saved a few links for reference. Good luck with detoxifying yourself. I've been able to quit sugar not trying to quit coffee. :Namaste:

Are the terpenes and cannabinoids on a small fluffy flower the same quality as on a larger firmer bud? I understand there will be less of them, at least I think that. Im not really sure how many terps and canns are on the inside of a bud.

What is the plant material to cannabinoid ratio of a firm bud compared to an airy one.

Does firm vs fluffy change how well it decarbs, or how efficient the extraction is?

Whole buds, crumbled or toasted - which is better?

Subbed...your journey has me hooked. I have an interest in making effective home remedies and you have some fantastic ideas that are worth exploring! I am in the beginning stages of learning all things cannabis and hope to be able to contribute more once I have a better understanding.

Wowser I have neglected this place. Almost 2 months.

Ive decided I'm going to try a Grow, but I'm going to put the 'journal' here. Too much pressure for updates in the forum and I'm not sure how often I'll do them.

What is known so far:

Ill start with a Channel feminized photo period.
Grow space will be a stand alone wardrobe with 2 compartments.

Light for sprouts and seedlings will be an led grow bulb from Lowes.
Light for veg and flower will be a Mars reflector.

Soil will be Promix HP.
Water will be city, left standing to remove chlorine.

Will start in solo cups and likely go from there to a plastic bucket.

This is a practice run for summer outdoor grow. Need to time them (the next batch) so will be ready to flower when put outside end of May. I also need to work on odor management. Its not the neighbours, its the family that cant stand the smell.

The seed has had an overnight soak and is now resting in a warm paper towel on top of the fridge.

This is a Channel:

I keep looking at picture like this. The volume of trichomes on the leaves is significant. As my grow progresses, I'm going to harvest some of the flower tops at this stage.

My theory: Keeping things trimmed will help with canopy management, will provide an early (compared to long bud development times) source of meds, and should keep the plant in a perpetual flowering state with ongoing trichome development.

We'll see...

Grupdate: my bean has sprouted. Broke ground overnight. She needed an assist with her helmit but all is fine. I'm testing this tiny light for a while. I've seen a few cooked with big lights at this stage
