It's awesome, until a bullet goes through your brain at 22, then a young man or woman, all that training and education, and , that son or daughter, mother or father, ends.

We need people like that. What we need more of is leadership that understands what war is, as well as how, if, when; Leadership in the U.S. as well as the people have to understand that war means destroying the enemy, and everyone fights in one way or another. It is not a sacrifice of the young and those lacking wisdom and experience, or the costs of bombs and tanks.

I trust a guy that inhaled to be in this position of leadership more than one who has not.

Yeap, I think a stoned president is more apt to say, "let's work out our differences without killing each other."

I can see why you would think about joining the millitary during troubled financial times like these. Bottom line if your going to join the millitary enlist in the Air Force ( mostly non combat deployments, more laid back attatude, most "civilian feeling" service, better loking women:smokin:). I was in the Air Force for 4 years and it was a large mixed bag of horrible and great. The millitary will give you direction and focus but will also give you micromanaging superiors and a constant need to ask "why?". One thing to consider is what job you will want to do, remember that you will have at least 4 yrs of service to dedicate toward a carrer after the millitary. As an example I was a firefighter in the millitary and now work as a civilian contract firefighter in Iraq making $110,000 per year at 25yrs old. As far as you not being worried about getting deployed as you stated, I will tell you that you have no idea how you will react to some of the shit you will see over here. I have known some hardcore mofo marine friends of mine that still wake up crying and not knowing where they are, although in the Air Force it is less likely that you will see combat. If you go and see a recruiter just remember that they have a monthly quota they have to reach and will tell you ANYTHING to get you to join. I've got a ton of info if you have questions about the millitary life so send me a message and I'll help you out as much as I can

Thought I would ask you guys what would be a better decision I'm not new to any of this I used to grow and have a lot under my belt ahaha and I love it. I've been clean now for 3 months and every now and then I just start to miss smoking more and more.. I stopped because I was having problems with aneixty.. The last 2 years of my life have gone by without many accomplishments either besides getting a job, working.. I'm currently not in college anymore and it's been two years now..

I'm now debating going into the military (Army or Air Force) and getting deployed is really not a concern for me.. I just feel like I need some guidence and I'm just tired of the same routine it's the same as it was when I smoked just not as much fun.. ahaha I just feel like I'm not getting anywhere and need to make some kind of decision. I just want to get somwhere in life and have good benefits and be able to enjoy myself more.. I mean I could always smoke once I'm out of the military right??

I want to know what all of you guys think.. marijuana has always been a passion of mine.. from growing to smoking.. I love to travel and have always wanted to take that trip to amsterdam and see europe stoned and take things in more you know? I am only 20 going on 21 and still young but would it be a big mistake to waste 4-8 years of my life in the military or stoned?? I want to follow my heart but I'm just so lost right now at first I thought I was doing the right thing to not smoke anymore but was still for it.. Now I'm at this point and I'm just even more confused..

I need some advice people help me out.. :allgood:

I think you summed it up completely.

Military? You got to be kidding! You ever been wet, cold, and hungary for what seemed to be forever? You ever been out in 110 degree heat for long periods of time? You ever had your ass shot at, or had to be around booby traps and roadside bombs?
Take it from an old vet, the military is not what you are looking for.
Unless you are looking to live around a bunch of other men with damn few or no women in the picture, except for maybe the municipal camel.

I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I was in the army for a while and deployed to Iraq for 15 months. If you enjoy the little freedom you have outside of the military then don't join. I smoked throughout my 6 years in the army but just planned ahead for the random testing. However I failed my last urinalysis before I got discharged and my own Company commander tried to screw me in the ass by giving me a dishonorable discharge. An old ass CO who has never been to war was trying to give an Iraqi vet a dishonorable for smoking the reefer. So I had to get a JAG lawyer and fight it which was a pain in the ass. Point of the story.... The army treats it's soldiers like shit... even after sacrificing 15 months in Iraq they'll still screw your ass. My advice... stay out of the military PERIOD. It sounds like you've figured that out already though. Good Luck

P.S. Another reason not to join... Bush's protege McCain is fixing to start a war with Iran if he wins.

If no one joins there will be a draft. Not telling you to join, even though its been like 5 months since he posted it. I wouldn't join and I tell my friends not to join, but someone's gotta do or they will make us do it.

gangaman, you've gotten alot of great advice here, and i agree: DON'T JOIN THE MILITARY! its not the good career it used to be. there's great careers out there that don't involve shooting people,or getting shot at.

the government is putting so much money into the military now, (for war, not education, or programs that benefit us at home), that by the time this war is over, military spending will be cut to a minimum. who wants to work for an outfit with no money?

as for whether to smoke or not to smoke, if you truly love it and do it responsibly the cannabis lifestyle can fit in with almost any career.

good luck in finding your path through life, even if it takes all your life, it probably will.

Yeap, I'm 50 and still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. Well, I guess that is not really true. I'm happy, celebrated my 29th wedding anniversary today with the love of my live, smoke cannabis everyday, have a roof over my head and food in da belly! I'm poor, but you know happiness can make poverty quite enjoyable. In other words, find something you enjoy and do it! Life is too short to hate a job 40 hours a week.

Everyone thanks a lot for all the input I really appreciate it. As for my decision I'm staying out of the military.. I absolutely love to travel and yea in the military you do get to do some traveling but you don't really get to see or experience the things you would want to.. What I'm trying to say is that I like to have some freedom especially when traveling.. and the whole situation with money.. well I have that all figured out and I'm actually starting to put money aside in a good mutual fund and might start up an IRA soon.. when the market gets better I'm going to put extra money in stocks that I've done my homework on and get into the housing market. Now is a fantastic time to take advantage of buying a house or getting ahold of forclosures.. haha Hell I'm only 21 so I can make a lot happen in the next 10 years you know?? Just play your cards right and take some risks you can't always be too cautious because that will never get you anywhere.. :allgood:

Thanks for the input everyone :grinjoint:

Remember this:

RECUITERS LIE !!!

ask anyone who is now, or ever has been, in the military.

Couldn't agree more!! Let me guess, did they win you over with the free college or was it all the great career opportunities? Don't believe a word they say and keep in mind, America is far from the days when even the governor's son joined the military to defend our country. Now the main recruits consist of lower class Americans who have nothing else going for them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're probably lower class on the fiscal scale, and you have no direction in your life. You are their prime target. If you join, be sure to look around and notice, there are NO RICH PEOPLE in the military. Now, I'm no socialist since one day I would like to be rich, but the fact that the wealthy rarely find themselves in the military is suspect in my opinion. This has not always been the case. In both world wars, the rich and the poor fought side by side to defend this country back when we were great. Now, this country is a fiefdom and the poor are sent off to die for the rich. If you have followed Roman history at all, you will see the same pattern. The patricians sent the poor off to battle and when they returned, their houses were sold and their jobs were gone. The once heroic warriors became the roving masses in need of the bread and circus's Rome is so famous for, and one can see this very same pattern developing in this country. I hope you decide to find your purpose in some other way because I am here to tell you (from experience) that the military is not the answer. And by the way, they drug test regularly and the drill sergents watch you piss. And when you get out of training, a senior officer will watch you piss and if you test positive, you will receive a dishonorable dischange which will stay on your permenant record for life.

Ok, You have a job, you want leadership and money. I'd start a business and then set your sights on city office. Some leadership, give back to the community. You could be like Doug from Weeds. I say thats the best option, and you can still smoke if you choose. Or you can just bring vodka to the meetings.
