Mikedin's 2022 FC-E8000 Run!

Just finished up everything, I raised the lights up 2” but kept power the same they already lifted their leaves up twords them lol.

They got 1tbs of the coast of Maine stonington blend organic plant food the lobster kelp and *worm castings* I think yesterday I said it has ouster, it does not, regardless it is a (5-2-4) then added 1tbs happy frog fruit and flower dry amendment (4-9-4), followed by 2 heaping tablespoons of the coast of Maine earthworm castings (made sure to get at least 2 live worms into each pot lol, and then about 1/2 tsp of myco in each one

Watered it in with about 1/2 gallon of 1/3 diluted neut tea per pot… hopefully nothing but water for the next 2 weeks till the next tea and then another 2 weeks for the last top dressing

Well today’s daily update is additional LST only, and moved the cookies kush seedling into a 1/2 gallon pot with strawberry fields some perlite, worm castings, happy frog jump start, fruit and flower, myco and for now is in the tent with the autos once she’s a bit bigger I’ll move her over to the other tent to veg out till I can clone her

But besides that some of these plants are putting out tons of tops, one I counted 27 I think lol some much lower count but looking decent so far

Yeah when I saw that I couldn’t resist they had 3 other brands that where cheaper but I said hey, I’m using the soil, one of the amendments etc why not their castings too lol, this run is really a guess, I saw some shit I figured would work together as a good blend and went with it lol. So far they seems to be liking it, I noticed a few burnt tips on a Few leaves so it may be a bit hot but in fine with a Few burnt tips as long as it dosent get out of control.

I wish they carried other dry amendments but I made do with the fox farms amendments. I figured I’d give them a tea Every 2 weeks, and a top dressing every 4 weeks, there autos so I figure 1 more top dressing and then let the neuts run out the last month. Last run I finished in 11 weeks so about 77 days average some a few days more some a few days less. Using the same genetics with the addition of a master OG so I’d assume it’ll be close, if needed I can give them one last neut tea halfway through the 3rd month if they look like they need to go another week or so

They do a have a kelp amendment and lobster and another one I can’t remember maybe oyster shell, separate so I may pick those up for the next run

Also my teas are light, and the younger they are the more % I water them down, these where at about a 1/2 strength dose and minor tip burn (very minor maybe about 10 leaves between all 6 plants)

They say it’s not a hot soil but experience and other growers have shown me otherwise. I used their seedling starter and still got a slight burn when transplanting in week 2 of veg to a bigger pot with the Stonington blend.

I did A LOT of research and reading on the different companies and their products. CoM seemed to fit my outlook the best. In addition to the OG Plant food (that’s the slang for the 5-2-4 Stonington plant food) and fish bone meal, they’ve got like you said, the kelp meal, lobster meal, squid concentrate, and lobster compost. They also say that you can pickup the bar harbor blend and mix it with the amendments and it’d be like running their silver bag organic soil.

One thing that has stuck out to me is the potassium.. only the OG plant food had potassium and it’s in a 5-2-4 formula, so I’m interested in seeing how that’s gonna play in flower, hopefully the soil is packed with it. Once I have my stash in a place where I can afford to experiment, I am gonna run an auto in a 15 gallon pot from start to finish and see if it can really hold up the entire grow.

While I do wish they had a more diverse selection of products, the newbie in me appreciates the simplicity of their lineup. It lets me get a foothold on growing so I can start figuring out the whys of everything.. Looking at all the different nutrient lines out there combined with the different growing mediums was overwhelming. I have tens of gallons of nutrients my buddy gave me and it’s daunting just looking at it lol.

I also added in the happy frog fruit and flower, currently also using the jump start as a top dressing in conjunction with the CoM, and the fruit and flower if i need added potassium I can always find something organic to use in my next top dressing just in case. We’ll see how it goes.

I did my full last run with fox farms happy frog only, and I felt with the PH issue they had, they missed the PH buffer in one of their runs, and of course I had that run, I fought the last month of the last run with a 5.7PH even feeding at 7.4-7.5 I couldn’t ever get it back up in range, so as much as I liked the soil the first month it killed me with PK uptake in the end, one of the plants felt it the worst, but still put out decent buds. I’d imagine it would have been much better if the plant had optimal soil conditions I was also using their full organic liquid neut lineup but with the PH issues I’d imagine it wasn't fully up taking every thing

The plant below was actually a gorilla glue auto in a 1 gallon pot, yield was about 2-2.5 oz dry was a plant I started late just to compare to a 5 gallon pot

Mikedin heres a good little tip/guidline for organic growing when ph gets out of whack like you were just talking about. In soil we all likely agree that weed likes a ph of 6.2-6.5 strain dependant. Lets say we want 6.3. 7 is neutral so 6.3 is slightly acidic. What does "slightly acid" translate into? Microbes like a ph below 7 and fungi like myco fungi like a slightly above 7 ph so, 6.3 means the soil needs to be microbe dominant so add a compost tea with the only ingredients being fresh earthworm castings to bring the microbes, and organic molasses in the tea so when bubbling the microbes can eat the plant sugars in the molasses to stay alive and bubble while their population explodes. Feed the microbes only tea to the soil and it becomes more microbe dominant and sways the ph down. Add great white or any myco and the soil will become more fungal dominant and sway the ph up. Weed likes it with slightly more microbes than fungi. Microbes will eat fungi so I have found that if you start your seedlings in more fungal dominant soil and then in veg you introduce teas to lower the ph the fungi will establish and the microbes cant kill it off.

So noticed some leaves curling back when I was at 750PPFD so I backed the power down a bit and we’ll see how they are tomorrow, theatres massive Hindu Kush can’t get enough but she’s closer as far as her top goes, the shorter plants seem to be telling me it’s too much so I backed it down a bit on power but light height stayed the same PPFD readings are at between 20-24” depending on plant you choose to measure from lol, current power settings and a visual of the plant heights to light
So pics are
Power level

Height visual

Full spectrum PPFD
..tallest plant
…lowest plant

Red /Blue spectrum PPFD
..tallest plant
…shortest plant

Red blue spectrum DLI for 19/5 light cycle

And I’ll check back tomorrow morning to see how they respond when I get home from work
