Michigan Growers Unite!

Hello everyone, the purpose of this thread is to unite Michigan growers so we can all share some experiences, tips, tricks, recipes, etc and keep the Michigan marijuana community growing.

With the recent full legalization in our state, some of us are looking to learn to grow ganja at home or are experienced growers already looking to branch out and continue to learn. I feel like there is no better place to learn and share info than here!

So with that said, I am calling out all Michigan growers (I know you are all scattered around here) newbies or experienced ones, to come introduce yourself and keep this going.

It is up to you how much information you want to share (considering this is a public site and the interwebs is full of all sorts of people). Please remember to follow all forum rules, be nice and above all keep it legal (no discussions of selling or buying cannabis products).

To keep things organized in a way let's try to follow this format for intros. From there on, let's see where this goes!

I will kick things off.

MI area: Livingston/W. Oakland county area
Grow set up: Indoor basement 4x4 tent
Grow medium: DWC hydroponic for right now

Favorite edible: cookies or brownies but want to branch out to homemade hot sauce!
Favorite team/sport/university: They all suck now but always a Lions fan and MSU bball/football

Hope we can build a cool cannabis group!

MI area: I'm from the tri-cities area.
Grow set up: 3x3 indoor grow

Hobbies: I'm the guy you might want to know if a zombie apocalypse ever happens. I also make up lies for a living.

I plan on growing outside this summertime, figuring I'll get some things started in late March in my tent along with what I'm doing in hydro. The strain I got from seedsman has such a low THC I think it comes in under federal protection for hemp and won't count against my 12 plants. That'll leave me 6-8 plants to grow outside and I'll be doing autos inside. My goals overall are to make our own cbd oil and low thc products for her. For me? I'm growing some mild strains because the doc said my liver panels are crap and I need to lay off the firewater.

Nice Good call. I saw the mention of it earlier and was thinking on something of the sort way to get the ball rolling.

MI area: Central Mich
Grow set up: 2 4x4 flower tents, walk-in veg closet, clone shelf, and my beloved spacebuckets
Grow medium: soilless, Dewey cloners
Favorite strain: I love the diesel and Chemdawg family, anything gassy gets my attention
Favorite edible: smoked meats
Favorite team/sport/university: Detroit fan, MSU fan
Hobbies: Huntin', Fishin' and Jeeps take the rest of the time and money I don't use for my plants.

I have been called out! Thanks turbo.
I should really sum this up with a little explanation. In high school, 1986-90, I only knew of a few types of pot: the really good stuff with seeds, and the so-so stuff with seeds and stems. That's it, two types! There was no names for the stuff we bought, even in the U.P. during college. Occasionally you'd hear of Jamaican, maui or columbian, but I was never able to buy any. Holy hell, it was $75 a quarter! I think the biggest bag I ever held was a 1/2 oz, and I had to split that with a buddy. Fast forward through marriage, two kids, wife and I with careers that do not permit such activities, I stopped cannabis about 2002. Once Michigan opened up medical, I wanted to hit that badly, but it would have messed with my firearm habit, so I dismissed it. THEN, it was made known that recreational cannabis would be on the ballet, and I said Oh hell yes. Once I started the research of growing, I realized everything I thought I knew about cannabis was a lie. So, I've never had the pleasure of going into a dispensary, never tried a single edible.....nothing! Only weed I've gotten a hold of since was freebies from a few coworkers, Blue Dream and OG 18. Hell, I've been buying up seeds, and I'm not even sure what I like. I'm guessing sativa.
Sorry for the rant, but now you will understand some of my answers. This is my first grow.
Mi area: thumb
Grow area: 4x4 and 2x2 gorilla tents, indoors
Grow medium: fox farms ocean mixed with pro-mix, about 40-60 percent with perlite
Favorite strain: Who knows, I'm still waiting to try them all!
Favorite edibles: see above
Sports: Not much
Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, old cars, stuff that goes bang, and now this

@1969gtx your post made me laugh at loud! I am on my mid 30s but I completely agree with your statement. All I knew back in college was "midgrades", which was usually any kind of weed that smell skunky and had seeds, and if we got lucky some "chronic" with seeds as well that was smellier than the other but not great quality either.

I tried to get my wife to get a card as she suffers from very hard anxiety so she can stop taking those damn prescription drugs but it was not an illness Michigan recognized as approved. My ADD is also not in the list so now that I can grow what I want I can cater to both of us and have a new hobby :)

Central Michigan here. This will be my first time growing in years. Starting outside at this point and then inside this fall. Enjoy organic gardening, kayaking, metal detecting, privy digging, cutting wood, and anything outside. Oh and life in general. I am looking into building my own light set up either quantum boards or led strips. Thanks for the invite.

@pointer80 I am also considering making my own grow lights for my next grow but I am leaning towards COB LEDS.

Cob builds can get expensive fast depending on what components you want to use. Mid powered diodes get my vote.

Hello Mich. peeps, just in case anyone is interested there is a 420 canna expo at the soaring eagle casino in mount pleasant on 4-20. Looks pretty interesting.
That's pretty cool. Do you have to buy tickets ahead of time or is it first come? Never been up there except to gamble.
