Michigan Growers Unite!

I've run I think 8-10 strains now in the same tents and I have not needed to adjust nutrients dependent upon strain. I just feed them all the same thing

Thats good to know! Do you run all photo or do you have some Autos there too? Not sure where I read it but that's what the claim was that some autos don't get as many nutes as regular. Not sure if it's true or not. I am definitely digging a RDWC set up!

I've run one wave off all autos. They ate about the same as the photos. I don't mix autos and photos in the same tent and I try to match similar strains when I mix a tent. No landrace sativa's with a quick flowering Indica hybrid.

When I first got on here I wanted an rdwc setup so bad. But I want my produce to cost as little per oz as possible so I've settled on soilless, gives me good growth rates with slightly less headaches and a lower operating cost. Less water/nutes no chiller, my water pump only runs for 15 mins a day and the plants are ok in the event of a power outage which is an inevitability here.

If I had deeper pockets I may feel differently, but I'm poor, so cheap is good haha. There's no argument against the growth rate of dwc though.

I gotta check out your grow journals. That is a pretty cool set up! I was under the impression you still need air pump and air stones for RDWC or is the water movement/splash enough to get oxygen in the water?

Do you ever have to change the water and flush everything or do you add water and nutrients based on schedule/need. I have had root rot issues so keeping water in a reservoir for than a week scares me now lol

A lot of people think you need air stones for aeration but it's not accurate. When you disturb the surface of the water it traps air in it. That's why you see pond fountains, it keeps the pond aerated. Water can only hold a certain amount of dissolved oxygen depending on the temperature, that's why warm water is bad for hydro setups.

My setup right now is pretty simple. Fabric pots of Coco in 3x3 trays.
I have a 12 outlet manifold connected to a pump in a 5gal bucket. I fill the bucket and plug the pump in. Each plant gets the same amount of water, the runoff drains out of the tray into my sump crock. I love it. K.I.S.S.

Welcome @BlackSheep138 ! Those plants look great! What's the main reason you are moving to RDWC? I am currently doing juts DWC and I am looking to move to a recirculating dwc set up so feeds can be made easier. Just concerned how I will handle different strains needs within the same grow.

Increased yield, easier feed, and it's something I've never tried! I'm going to run 3 sites using 27gal totes and I found a fat stack of 12" pond plant baskets on the clearance rack at Home Depot.

I work in the restaurant industry and we have these 4 gallon ginger buckets and it was a match! they literally click into place. Using 4 gallon buckets to veg at my parents house (father/son project), then moving the basket to the flowering room at my house.

The nets are really all that sparked the drive for hydro for me. I know damn well what I'm doing in dirt, but hydro will be a fun challenge!

Soil grow as of today, 2 weeks in flower.

That's awesome! I have never grown before so I am still not sure I know what's going on but so far DWC has been pretty cool to do. I would suggest painting or covering those white buckets as its supposed to let light in which can cause bacteria to grow. I dunno, I have been battling some root rot I think with one of my plants.

Good luck with the grow!

Hi all, the weather is finally coming around. I harvested my first plant last night. My back was sore this morning. Nothing half day of work didn’t loosen up. This spring is gonna be tricky for me. Lots of fishing to do. Walleye, spring salmon, perch. What’s a fella to do. I hope the fam has been paying attention in the room. Happy St Patty’s day!
