Mel's ViparSpectra XS 2000 Sponsored Grow - Blueberry & Northern Lights

I think Blueberry is one of the prettier plants and yours is no exception, Mel. Well done.

We have reached the point where I'll have to make a decision.
Do I top the Blueberry now, or do I wait for 3 more nodes and try to clone the top?
I haven't had many tops root, but it sometimes feels a little wasteful to just throw it out.
The last one that successfully rooted was the Romulan from this summer, and that one went to my neighbour.
What do you guys think, should I give it a shot? I'm not sure how easy it is to clone Blueberry.

I say go for it, never hurts to try. CL🍀

I'll be bumping Blueberry straight up to full strength nutes next feeding. She's just starting to show a little lightness in her newest leaves.
Other than that we're just watching them grow.

Clone clone clone... if it dies it dies, if it lives you have another Blueberry. She is a beautiful fat leafed plant.
Lol, that's very true!
That's 1 for cloning.
Go for it, nothing to really lose, everything to gain 👍👍.. my thought 🤔
2 for cloning!
What's agin it? If you have time to wait for it to put out more top growth go for it! That's what I did with my two.

Not that I've had much luck cloning tops. :)
That makes 3.
I haven't had much luck with them either, but a couple have rooted, and that Romulan top was one of the fastest rooting clones I've ever had.
think maybe top it Mel and wait to clone the lower side branching?
Tops are hard to clone for me.
She looks great btw.
Thanks GG!
Tops are difficult to clone, and lowers do root more easily, but I'm just trying to feel like I'm not wasting it if you know what I mean.
I will be trimming off the first node or two to do a traditional quadline, so maybe they'll also be long enough to clone by the time I top her.
Happy new year Mel :green_heart:
Happy New Year to you too Carmen!

Thanks, and welcome to the journal GF!
Happy New Year to you too!

So, I think it's safe to say everyone would like to see me try to clone the tops, and you're right. No reason not to try!
I'll let her put out a few more nodes to get a long enough stem to go into the medium.

Happy New year everyone!

Happy New Year Melville!

Mind if I pull up a chair and watch your girls grow?;) I just got a new @ViparSpectra P2000 for my 2' x 4' tent and have one Blueberry Feminized and two Northern Lights Feminized starting the flowering phase tonight and wanted to tag along and see how things go for you since we're basically using the same light.

Blueberry is still getting bushier, and Zkittlez is putting out those long leaves. They're both being fed full strength nutrients now.

Nice choice of strains! I wish I had managed to get that Northern Lights started, but the Zkittlez is doing well as a replacement!
I think all the leaves are looking good, and happy new year Mel!

Thanks Shed!
I'm loving these long leaves she's putting out!

I say clone the top.

I’m actually okay at striking clones and have struck many tops. I think my success is 100%. At the moment I have a monstercropped clone which is growing like a boss, as well as an ordinary Mimosa EVO clone. Before I had seeds it was my only way to grow top strains.

I love the process of taking nothing and making it something. My hands down favourite way to clone is monstercrop. Prolly coz it’s the most challenging lol.

Here are today's pics. Still doing well.

Yup, I will be trying to clone the top. I'm currently debating using rooting powder, or aloe vera gel. I have an aloe plant that needs to have a lower leaf or two removed.

I've decided that I'll be trying to clone the Zkittlez as well. I only had the one seed for it, so if it turns out to be really good I'd like the chance to grow more.
I also have another one coming with my most recent Herbies order, but that isn't here yet. In fact it still hasn't left Spain, lol.

The lower growth on the Blueberry has started to poke through past the fan leaves, so I made sure to tuck them where appropriate. I had to remove the two lowest true leaves as they were both touching the soil. In past plants doing that has stimulated the branches from the node with the fans removed to grow a bit faster to get to the light, so I'm hoping that happens here.
Zkittlez is just starting to really devote some resources to her side branches, and given her structure they should get plenty of direct light, so maybe she'll start to catch up to the Blueberry.
I gave them a feeding of full veg strength nutes today.

Looking lovely.. 👍👍💚

The branches coming up from the bottom nodes of the Blueberry are getting big enough to make clones, but the top few nodes aren't ready yet, so we're still waiting.
Both are reacting well to their feeding. I'll be paying attention to how long it takes them to get dry again as there are roots coming out the bottom of both pots.

So, thinking about this light, I have to say that it has just the right amount of red spectrum to it. These girls are putting out some big leaves, but are showing none of the stretching associated with too much red/far red/ IR.
